INTRODUCING: TEMPLES - After hearing the opening chords to infectious The Golden Throne (which is not, as I originally thought, a song about a very posh toilet) you will find yourself hooked on this neo-psychedelic duo.

Made up of hair, jeans and cheekbones, London based Temples are a relatively new band whose début gig was at this year’s Green Man festival. Thomas Edison Warmsley and James Edward Bagshaw (whose curly mop of hair lends to him more than a passing resemblance to a young Bob Dylan) were, until recently, of band The Moons, who have been playing support for Liam Gallagher’s band Beady Eye over the past few months.

There’s something relaxing but exhilarating about Warmsley and Bagshaw’s music – which is synthy, swoony and more than a little bit sixties. Temples are retro, but fresh, and utterly wonderful.

2013 seems to be the perfect time for a psych revival in rock music (and I’m not complaining!) Rising from a smokey and kaleidoscopic haze in Kettering, England, Temples have picked themselves up a set of vintage instruments and earned a noteworthy comparison to some mentionable names - The Beatles, The Byrds, and the recent Tame Impala. If you dig it, their 7” can be purchased here. Light some incense, close your eyes and enjoy the travel back in time with 'Shelter Song'

Earlier this month Temples played to a full house of excitable music-buzz lovers at The Social. Last night the duo’s “neo-psychedelia” took over The Barfly, bringing retro chic in abundance to a part of the world where such a style will always be at home.

There’s quite a fuss surrounding this Camden-clad band, and for good reason; their timbre surfs along the crest of a Django Django wave, while their look and assured performance would sit them comfortably alongside the Mercury nominees.

Temples’ set is a trip that revolved around buzzing guitar, reverberating vocals and hypnotic choruses; the highlight of which came in the form of a nod to The Beatles in the impossibly funky opening riff to ‘Shelter Song’. They produce a vintage live performance that makes you want to stay out passed your bedtime and grow your hair long. Expect a great deal more from ThisBand.
