I call for 1st Shepherdprincess post
Saïdou Dicko (Burkinabé) - Shepherd Princess (watercolor on paper, 2023)
accidentally read “dragon hoard” as “dragon herd” and couldn’t help but think about a bunch of sheep sized dragons following a shepherd princess...
not sure if herding dragons is royal duty or if princess clothes are the appropriated wear for herding dragons

The first thought that crossed her mind that morning was that she’d never been on a boat before. She’d seen the sea, even played on the beach that the Eastern Ylissean Palace boasted during family summer trips, but that had been childhood innocence. This was a departure from everything familiar. To enter another war.
Her hands gripped together through knitted gloves. A soft snowfall marked a grey winter morning in Western Ferox. Lissa sighed before she stepped onto the ship. Her cloak and the skirts of her traveling clothes was enough to keep her warm, but she could see her breath around her in the solemnity of morning.
“Lissa!” Chrom called, waving as he called. The other Shepherds were scattered around the ship, making preparations with the Khan’s sailing team. Sully and Frederick were assisting in rigging the sails. Stahl was probably below deck somewhere helping the ship cook. Maribelle and Libra were setting up the medical clinic for the ship, and that’s where Lissa knew she’d soon be.
“Hey, Chrom,” she greeted, smiling for her brother. He was anxious right now, leaving his daughter behind to fight another war. It was enough to drive him to nervous panic, so Lissa knew she had to smile as much as possible for him. No matter how scared she might get.
As Lissa walked across the deck, going to the railing to look down and out at the long, long sea ahead of them, she heard another call.
“Hoy, Lon’qu! Welcome aboard--”
Lissa turned, a sudden burst of excitement in her. She didn’t realize Lon’qu was re-joining the militia. After the Plegian War, he’d gone back to Ferox with Khan Basilio. He did live there, after all, it was where he really called home.
Lon’qu looked so much the same, and yet still different. Lissa hadn’t seen him for two whole years, it was a surprise to see him now, as he stepped onto the ship. His hair was just as messy, his frown just as stoicly set.
“Lon’qu?” She grinned as she approached him, clasping her gloved hands together eagerly as she did. The closer she got, the more same-but-different he looked. Same strong jawline, same steely eyes, but... something certainly wasn’t the same.
Her heart thumped in her chest as she came to stand before him. “Bet you wouldn’t recognize me if it weren’t for the pigtails,” she joked. “I haven’t seen you in two years! You’ve been gone so long!”
