I have this fear that when certain SaneGiyuu shippers who don't actually engage with the canon material much see that Sanemi is, in fact, mean to Giyuu (which is a huge part of the ship lore obviously but probably still controversial to people bc they can't understand the importance behind character ter conflicts) they'll be like "oh nevermind :( he's mean to him, I don't like it anymore". Like most people are very well aware of what SaneGiyuu is, but for every ship there's a bunch of younger, less manga-reading fans that do like what they know about the ship but don't actually get what people are talking about until they see it animated. Even more, people who have read the manga will still probably have a different connection to things when they're animated with movement and voice and color, so... yeah :/ if SaneGiyuu love takes a dip I'm gonna shoot my dresser but I also feel that it's going to be inevitable. I don't know how to explain it beyond that, but generally all I'm saying is I feel there will be weaker links that will fall when faced with any minor argument between ships. And that's not even mentioning the shinogiyuu shippers that will be the exact same and have new motivation to harass SaneGiyuu shippers because Sanemi's too mean to their poor Giyuu. A lot people don't fully accept things that are already canon (even if they know what those things are) until it's animated.
