there really wasn't anyone who hated himself more for letting matty go than HIMSELF, but when it came down to it bea parker might come in at a really close second. mikey made a habit of avoiding all members of sucker punch regardless : matty for the obvious, skyler because he didn't need to see the disappointed look in his eyes, and bea because he was afraid she might take their band name a bit too literally and he couldn't afford a broken nose — even if he could personally agree he probably did deserve it. it's still INEVITABLE that he runs into her, murphy's law hard at work and all, but did it have to happen so LITERALLY ?? ( probably, yeah ). he stares at her with horrified wide-eyed recognition, absolutely drenched in what had been her fresh cup of coffee all of two seconds ago — well, honestly better him than HER. " please don't hit me, " he blurts out. there's a suspicious guy in the corner of the cafe who's eyeing them, a fancy looking camera sitting in his lap. while mikey hasn't EXACTLY been giving a shit what kinds of headlines he's been making, he'd prefer to not have the embarrassment of a photo of himself getting punched out on the front page. " i'll buy you another — or — or like, you can have mine. "
