Today was supposed to herald in changes for me. The universe had other plans. So I bought new slippers, because plan B is to amp up my writing game. My whole first half century on this planet, I fought back when the universe said no. I resolved in 2017 to not fight back. For this year, if the universe says no, I will salute and move out. I know it sounds defeatist, but I know deep in my soul that this is the lesson I haven't learned yet. No diet mean stop. It means reevaluate. It means check yourself. Unfuck yourself. Shield maiden up and find a new portage. It means buy new slippers, crack your knuckles, and write until you bleed. Losing a battle doesn't mean losing the war. Sometimes a loss is a victory, but it may take us years to see that. It doesn't always have to be put up or shut up. Sometimes you just drip a little blood on the keyboard instead.
