March 4
Friday’s tend to be more quiet than Wednesdays since the producer is off packaging the show. During this time, I look for more ideas for next week’s show and start working on scripts which is what I did today.
Finding pitches has always been one of the more difficult parts of journalism for me and today was no exception. I had a hard time finding ideas online but knowing that we always manage to find something in the end helps lower my anxiety. Also, one of the advantages of working at the country’s national broadcaster is that pitches get sent to them all the time so we can use those in a pinch.
Near the end of my shift, I spoke with the producer and the host to run my pitches by them and to update them on where I am for next week’s show. They gave me the go ahead to start pre-interviewing for one of my ideas and to continue working on my script.
