The warmth guaranteed by the food stalls was high enough to keep the cold at bay, a fact that Nanami appreciated. Christmas had finally arrived in the city, with the entire island in an uproar over it. Most stores and restaurants had closed down to the day, leading to the outdoor festivities to be more packed than usual. That is what led to her retreating back to the sidelines as far as possible, a hot drink purchased before the lines could grow.
Aside from her lack of a hacking cough, she continued to act as she did back home, eyes roaming over the sea of people ahead. A lot of bodies to go through, but she lacked the strength to deeply pick away at their traits like she could. No one’s aura was all that sharp either. Nanami was aware of a presence approaching her from the side, but was prepared to ignore them unless they wanted something from her.
It was the low hissing she caught under the din that finally made her turn.
“...Was there something you needed?“ she asked, shifting her attention from the pitch-black snakes (were they hiding in all that hair?) to the woman sitting beside her now.
