standing amidst the roses of the front garden, she cast the mark lazily into the night sky, watching as its glow rose to join the flickering orange of the fire that blazed before her. the house had caught like kindling. it crackled at its roots, flames lapping at the stars with an eagerness bella found enchanting. she could see them, in her mind’s eye. bodies lying snug amongst the firewood as flames danced merrily in the glossed remains of their gaze. but she longed to hear them, beneath the roar of the fire-- crying, pleading for MERCY, please, MERCY. but alas, she had left them too broken and babbling, their minds dull to a pain that hadn’t proved itself to be fun anymore once the screams had subsided. she had a terrible habit of working herself into a frenzy, but next time, no, next time: she wouldn’t allow herself the luxury of an assault quite so quick and dirty.
so, bathed in light, she waited with wand drawn, standing--as always--apart from the trio that had accompanied her. her eyes trained on the burning results of her handiwork, she heard the POP before she saw her. and then, mere feet away from her, lily stood, in all her glory, copper-headed and stony faced with anger? determination? and an infuriating lack of fear.
almost instinctually, she sent a curse barreling her direction. ❝ well, well, well. ❞ deflecting the resulting attack, she fired again, grinning with excitement. ❝ if it isn’t little lily mudblood. and much too late, as always. ❞
