Fuckkkk I haven't seen it because I was so scared they wouldn't become Canon so....? I guess it's not Canon? I haven't even dared finish the season yet and you're telling me that yet again.... Yet again we don't win, we can't win. We're so close yet so far. Like I can't fucking believe that after the superwholock era of media, we finally had the chance to have the holy trinity instead of Good Omens, WWDITS, and Our Flag Means Death, yet good omens was fucked up by n*il gaiman, ofmd was fucked up by greed, homophobia, racism, and a few poor writing decisions, and now THIS?! My heart hurts, wtf. I saw people act so hopeful about nandermo and I became skeptical again. Ouch. Fucking ouch. I genuinely can't get invested into any show or franchise, especially if it's queer, because of this shit.

Spoilers for venom 3 too, but apparently they don't follow through as much as they could've. The second movie had a whole ass coming out scene in a gay bar and a love concession that was half cut out, but then the third movie backtracked... Ouch ouch ouch.

Oh and Pinky and the Brain in the reboot of animaniacs, ruined by greed and canceling good shows for no reason, and ruined possibly by some sort of overlord who doesn't want the rats to kiss.

To be clear this WWDITS thing isn't queerbait, they're obviously queer and it's important as rep and as a story, but it hurts in a similar way, yet it's also like salt in the wound, like there was a CHANCE a damn good chance, but... Nah. Just nah.

On that note go watch camp cretaceous on Netflix, queer couple and autistic coded characters it's a fun ride, and it has a sequel, not queerbait though it is a gamble as to which gays become Canon and which are just heavily... Heavily accidental subtext. Oh and the Owl House. Ofc.

can't comment on the sterek comparison because I've never watched that show, so I don't know what exactly went down over there.

regarding buddie... I've shared my feelings about it, but there are plenty of people that feel the opposite, so I'd recommend you watch the episode and see for yourself.

People don’t like to say Buddie is queerbaiting - and in a sense it isn’t, not in a show where lots of characters are queer and one of the main couples is wlw.

But also there is something about this show. The fact that lots of people who don’t watch it but sort of know of its existence think they are already together, the fact that *them* and Chris being sort of a family unit is a lot more advertised than Henren and Denny (and I get it, it’s fox, there’s also an element of racism in this), how they parallel the canon couples in the show in everything except for being together.

So sure. It isn’t queerbaiting. But they’re sure baiting for something by using their relationship and never delivering.
