Sinking

the water keeps rising

he watches her drift away

she did everything she could

but he looked the other way

buoyancy lost

its been so long

but its been so long

and he always forgot

he would watch from a distance

and quietly cry

as the waves rolled in

she thought she would die

they struggled and gasped

as their times overlapped

and the waves grew stronger

and the storm lasted longer

they cry for their father

they cried for their father

water took the place of the air in her chest

he did all he could and said he tried his best

he lifted her up and laid her on the sand

he stared in awe and took her head in his hand

"i'm sorry" he said.

"I did all I could"

her body lay lifeless

as nature promised it would

He crawls to them

with tears in his eyes

with madness and defeat

at the scene of her demise
