i walked today from my familiar place

along the hardened path

when i am struck

by something i can't yet see

the green monoliths above me

our spheres severely overlapping

quickly, i run and hold my breath

to my iron beast, stopped in its own place

i slam the door, and make it breathe unto me

and collapse into its grasp

for what i breathed had reminded me

of a life promised but not given

a life i long for more days than not

a life i must now forget

WHEN THE DRAFT IS STILL SHIT

Last night, I dreamt I was wearing two different shoes, ones I had never seen before, but which were uncanny in that way that things in dreams usually are. 

Like the neurotic freak that I am, I looked it up; the closest resemblance to my dream was wearing  "inappropriate shoes for the occasion." I'd say two completely different types of shoe can be considered inappropriate.

My "progress and path in life will be long, hard, and laborious."

Has it not been thus far? I don't mean to sound like a child, I know my life has, in fact, been easy. But I also know that I have merely shrugged off a great deal of the things that caused me pain.

Usually, I have the same dreams -- about my own anxiety, in the form of crumbling teeth and shaking hands, the dream of someone desperate to avoid alcoholism and  dismiss delusions of happiness.

Last night I dreamt about shoes, and my dream told me that the path I am on will be difficult -- more so than anything I've experienced. If I choose to believe it, that is. But my dreams have not yet been wrong.
