Musings on DS9 7.12, “The Emperor’s New Cloak”
“Oh, uh, I get it! Uh, your clothes, the knife, this aggressive attitude: it’s all role-playing. Call me Shmun!”
“Shmun?”
Far and away, the most fun ANYONE has had in the Mirror Universe (unless the tone of DIS has been grossly misrepresented on the grapevine?). When Rom says indignantly, “Not unless you interrogate us!”, I choke on my laughter every time. Every time.
More noteably, though? This was and remains the first (thankfully not the last) episode where Ezri doesn’t annoy me, not even once. Her Prime Universe self hits all the right notes for the first time ever, albeit in a very brief scene, and her Mirror counterpart is... kind of awesome. Am I wrong, or should the writers simply have made her a disaffected punk child right from “Image in the Sand”? She could even have been affiliated with Section 31: they also really love their leather suits.
