i have definitely made some experimental shoe choices over the past few months of which i have not kept you abreast! still no great everydays, but here is a quick breakdown:

around my birthday, i officially purchased some forever summer daily sandals for around FORTY dollars. they’re vaneli’s platform faux teva in their op checkerboard pattern (the pattern seen here). these haunted me for months and i waited patiently for some kind of discount. i’m happy with this price as i think these will really commit themselves to me, but i’d still like an additional saddle tan kinda leather pair for summer! one thing i’ve never really communicated online is exactly how much i wear black and white as a color/mixed black and white patterns esp. knockoff op art shit! it’s a core thing!

paid a whole ten dollars at a thrift store for a pair of straight up clarks waitress shoes because they were BLACK PATENT and, obviously, comfortable. imagine waitress shoes but black patent! hello. very pleased with these. they velcro. so comfortable and very genre with black jeggings 

had the rare luck of thrifting a men’s shoe in my size--this is always my dream, as i like men’s shoes! they are strange and white. everything after this was $5 or less

blue lace up booties (cute, but they are plastic and they squeak when i walk)

rich chocolate alligator rockports that seem like they ought to be more comfortable than they are. thought these would fill a void for a daily brown shoe but i simply need a comfy daily brown pointed wingtip, can’t function otherwise 

80s reebok classics in the BLUEST blue (plz follow for the saga of this/if you want more re: my hunt for a reebok) 

some gold heels that liberated me to get rid of almost every other heel i own (follow if you want to know all of the heels i have left) (also if you remember my old lucite shoes, wear a 6.5-7 and want to buy them)

maybe something else i forget!!

a quick browse of some over the knee boots i would do: 

donald j pliner (these are excellent in many ways, both deconstructed and sensible even given how many sexy tropes they brush against, a delicious leather) 

see how many elements of a rick boot those much cheaper boots have! i would do this particular rick owens boot, even though i’m not a wedge girl. i loooove how skeletal the seaming is (you know how i feel about this!) which i think is an underrated element of his boots in general. i would prefer something slouchier, for many reasons including that less slouchy things won’t normally fit around my legs

these stuart weitzmans have many of the above elements in another downmarket shape, but i hate the heel and the athletic edge

these carven boots are of course way outside of what i could handle but as a concept are closer to the ones i already have and really what i’m looking for: straight-up a leather boot i could pull on over any pants! why not this concept, a heel under 3″, with some kind of tonal patching or stitching or laces? looking 100 years older in wear? why not that

i still have a lot of my old boots that i’m too sentimental to get rid of, but functionally, notwithstanding my snow boots, all i have are my brown miu mius (which i am wobbly in and don’t wear often, but still of course adore) and a pair of mega cheap black over the knee boots that aren’t that comfortable but have really served me well--when they bite it i’m gonna invest in some serious thigh high boots, which will be a fun experiment considering how hard it is to find even regular boots that accommodate my leg circumference! (expensive leather: more stretchable???)

there was a particular pair of downmarket [designer unknown] patchwork boots that imprinted on me in probably 2001--specifically the leather and shearling 70s fetish of the earlier 00s vs. the denim patchwork that appears like 2006-2007. i haven’t ever been able to channel the impulse successfully into a bag but that one is pretty good! watch my shoeblog @levictim for patchwork boots and maybe i will get to the bottom of this
