You’re welcome to ignore this request idea or take what inspires you but I truly think you have Todoroki’s characterization down perfectly that I feel you’d do it more than justice… but it’s basically Shoto ends up in the hospital while doing work study with his dad and he asks Fuyumi to call his girlfriend who shows up from her own work study and it’s just fluff of them fretting over each other and being in love while his siblings watch and Endeavor showing up to learn that he’s last to know that Shoto has a girlfriend who also is the reader who Endeavors met randomly through his UA crashing/teamed up with her work study mentor?
first of all, thank you so much for sending in a request and the compliments on writing Shoto! It means a lot. so sorry that this took a minute, but I am still drifting in and out of writing and I wanted to do it justice. I hope you enjoy it :)
also, for this we're going to pretend Best Jeanist is back in commission from that AFO fight lol
The moment your phone rang and you saw Fuyumi’s number, you knew something was wrong. She never called. If she had something to tell you or if there was something that she needed, a text was always enough. Seeing her name flash across your screen now only meant one thing.
Shoto was in trouble.
You hit the accept button as fast as your shaking hands would let you, answering with an immediate question instead of your usual pleasant greeting.
“What happened?”
“Shoto asked me to call you,” Fuyumi’s familiar voice responded. You found yourself able to relax just a bit at the words ‘Shoto asked’. That must have meant that he was at least conscious. “Something happened during his work study today and we’re at the hospital…”
As soon as the word ‘hospital’ left her lips, you were already out the door. You ignored the looks the other heroes gave you as you rushed out of the agency and down the sidewalk towards the train station.
“He’s fine, but his phone was lost and he wanted me to let you know what was going on.”
You exhaled when you could hear Shoto’s soft voice in the background, but it didn’t slow your steps. You’d have to explain yourself to Best Jeanist later for your abrupt departure in the middle of your own work study day, but for now, you didn’t care. Even though you could hear him, you still needed to see him. You needed proof that things weren’t too bad.
“I’ll be there within the hour,” you replied and then hung up before you could hear Fuyumi tell you that it was okay to wait until after your day was over. There was no way that you would be of any use to anyone while you were in this mindset anyways so it didn’t matter.
It took you around forty minutes to reach the hospital after hanging up with Shoto’s sister, and by the time you made it to the front desk, you were shaking so bad you thought you were going to collapse.
“S-Shoto T-T-Todoroki’s room, please,” you stuttered out, and the nurse looked up at you in concern.
“My dear, are you okay?”
You must have looked even worse than you thought, but you were just about to assure her that you were fine, you just really needed that room number, when a familiar voice filled the air.
“She’s with us.”
Your head turned to meet the eyes of Natsuo, Shoto’s older brother. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw the nurse nod in understanding, though even if she hadn’t, there wasn’t a force on Earth that was going to stop you from getting to your boyfriend now.
“I think you look worse off than Shoto,” Natsuo teased as he tucked you under his arm and led you towards his brother’s room. “You got here fast, too. You’re doing your work study with Best Jeanist, right?”
The casual air to Natsuo’s voice immediately brought you comfort as you nodded, doing your best to participate in the casual conversation. He didn’t seem frantic or concerned and was making easy jokes so surely Shoto really was okay.
“Yeah, I am. He’s going to be really upset with me when he finds out I just left, though.”
Natsuo’s eyes turned towards you and you knew that he was also about to tell you that you could have waited until the end of the day to visit, but you had just turned into Shoto’s room and you could finally see your boyfriend with your own eyes.
“Sho!” You cried as you rushed from Natsuo’s side over to Shoto’s bedside. His grey and blue eyes widened at the sight of you, and an involuntary tear slid down your cheek as you were able to fully take in the sight in front of you.
For the most part, he did look okay. There was a large, white bandage above his right eye and his bottom lip was busted. His left arm was in a sling and he had a few other bruises and scratches, but you had definitely seen worse.
“You came,” he stated matter-of-factly as you scooped up his hand that wasn’t bandaged up in your own.
“Of course I did,” you whispered, your voice catching as another tear trailed down your face. “When Fuyumi called, I had… I had to make sure that you were okay.”
Shoto briefly released your hand so that he could brush away the new tears from your cheek, his eyes focused intently on your face.
“I told her to tell you that I was okay. I didn’t want you to worry.”
His voice was soft and you couldn’t help but smile when he laced his fingers with yours once again as you took a seat on the edge of his bed.
“I mostly just heard ‘hospital’ and came running, to be honest,” you chuckled. “Don’t say you wouldn't have done the same.”
Shoto nodded, his eyes bright as his gaze never left yours.
“I would. And I am glad that you’re here. I just hope I won’t be getting you in too much trouble.” His brow furrowed slightly at the idea, and you shrugged in response.
“Who cares if I do? You’re worth it.” Shoto’s smile grew as you lifted his hand to your lips to press a soft kiss to the back of it to accentuate your statement.
You were so wrapped up in your own little bubble that you both forgot Natsuo and Fuyumi were still in the room. It wasn’t until the deep voice of his father entered the room that either one of you managed to turn away from the other.
“Who’s this?”
In the amount of time that you and Shoto had been dating, you had never actually met Endeavor as Shoto’s girlfriend. You had worked together briefly when him and Best Jeanist had collaborated on a case together a few weeks prior, but that was it. You had been intimidated by him then and you were even more so now.
“Don’t tell me you don’t even know your own son’s girlfriend,” Natsuo huffed, and you watched as Endeavor’s head swiveled between you and his oldest son.
“Girlfriend?” He asked in disbelief, and Shoto’s grip on you tightened. You could feel an awkward Todoroki family moment brewing in the air.
“Endeavor and I don’t generally speak about private matters,” Shoto replied evenly. A pained look quickly flashed across his father’s face, but when you looked at your boyfriend, his expression was void of any emotion. You knew that the two of them were just getting comfortable working together, but Shoto had also made it clear that he was not ready to pursue any type of personal relationship with the number one hero.
“I see,” Endeavor conceded as his fierce blue eyes fell to where yours and Shoto’s hands were clasped before trailing up to your face. “It’s good to see Shoto has managed to surround himself with such caring people.” You didn’t really know what to say to that, so you simply nodded. “How is Best Jeanist, by the way. You’re working closely with him these days, aren’t you?”
The statement surprised you as your jaw dropped slightly. You hadn’t been expecting him to recognize you. Your interactions had been so brief, you were sure you hadn’t made an impression on him at all.
“He’s good. Yeah,” you murmured simply, to which he only gave a curt nod. The conversation didn’t call for much else, and seemingly sensing that his presence was no longer welcome, Endeavor turned to head towards the door.
“Get some rest, Shoto. We’ll continue with your studies once you’re healed.”
Those were the final words he offered before disappearing into the hallway, Fuyumi following close behind him. Natsuo was standing near the entrance, glaring daggers at the space where his father once stood, and you were left with many questions over everything that had just happened.
“Sorry about him,” Shoto murmured, his voice bringing your attention back to him. “And sorry for putting you in that awkward position. I… I didn’t bring you up to him because I didn’t think that he deserved to know you. I try to keep him separate from the really good things in my life so that he has no chance of tainting them.”
An embarrassed flush colored his skin and you knew that he was worried you were upset with him. Your hand that wasn’t hold his quickly lifted to cup his cheek, and you gave him a reassuring smile.
“You don’t have to explain it to me, Sho. I get it.”
Shoto leaned into your touch and you could feel him relax against your hand. You could tell that he was exhausted, and his eyelids dropped more and more as your thumb softly caressed the top of his cheek.
“He was right about getting rest though. You had a tough day. You don’t have to stay awake just because I’m here.”
Shoto nodded but then tugged on the hand that he was still holding to pull you closer.
“Will you stay?” He asked, and you realized that he was inviting you to crawl into the space beside him. You eyed the spot warily.
“I don’t want to hurt you…” you started, but Shoto smiled and tugged on your hand again.
“You won’t hurt me, you’ll help me. Promise.”
You weren’t ever one to turn him down as you eventually gave in. Slowly, and carefully, you scooted from your spot on the edge of the bed into the empty space on Shoto’s right side and snuggled in closer. When he didn’t flinch or hiss at the movement, you relaxed a bit before resting your head on his shoulder so that he could rest his head on top of yours.
“Perfect,” you heard him whisper before his breathing started to slow, and it only took a couple of minutes before soft little snores slipped past his lips. Now that you had calmed down quite a bit, you could feel the aftermath of the coursing adrenaline that had previously run through your veins, and your eyes started to slide shut as well.
As the two of you fell asleep side-by-side, you forgot all about his older brother in the corner and the fact that his sister was on her way back to the room after having a quick conversation with their father. Not that it mattered. As soon as they saw the two of you curled up with one another, sleeping peacefully, they left you alone so that you could both get some much needed rest.

You had always admired him. You admired everything about him. But lately he hasn't been himself. If there was one thing you wanted to do… it was help Shoto Todoroki. He had once been so warm and caring with you, but now he was turning distant. There had been no warning. The last time you had asked him to meet you for lunch he had agreed and then bailed on you the morning of. That wasn’t like Shoto at all.
Shoto had known that he was hurting you, but he hadn’t known what to do. The Todoroki was conflicted. He knew that he didn’t want to push you away, but these feelings had jumped on him from out of nowhere. He didn’t want to take you down with him. He knew that he wasn’t suited for this and didn’t want you to have to suffer with him.
So when you decided to show up at his house out of nowhere the man was even more conflicted. As you stepped onto the porch and slowly knocked on the door you had no idea that he was going to be so upset. You had hoped that this would help things, but as he opened the door and his eyes went wide you weren’t so sure.
Shoto cleared his throat and kept the door open just wide enough for you to see his figure. “Y/n?” He looked nervous. “What are you doing here?”
You had now wondered if there was someone else in the house. Had he found himself a girlfriend that didn’t want him to hang out around you? Was that why he was pushing you away? You placed your hand on the back of your head and scratched nervously. “I just wanted to stop by and make sure you were okay, Shoto. You’ve barely been talking to me and that’s just not like you. You’re never distant from me, but now-”
He cut you off, his tone was serious as he stopped you. “Don’t. You don’t know what’s going on in my life. Everything is fine.”
You were taken aback by his answer and noticed him trying to shut the door. He was trying to shut all the feeling that he was having back into the house with him. You threw your hand out and hit the door, keeping him from shutting it. “Don’t play those stupid games with me Todo.”
At the sound of the nickname you used for him his eyes softened and he turned around. It had always sounded so perfect coming from your lips. He opened the door wider and you tried to peek in behind him. While you had him off guard you spoke again. “Can I come in? We really need to talk.”
He was hesitant, but he removed his arm and let you past him. You walked into the house and made your way into the kitchen, leaning against the counter as he followed you. He leaned against the counter on the other side of the room and waited for you to speak. But when you said nothing he knew that he needed to start things. “I promise that everything is fine. I’ve just been busy.”
You looked up from the floor and felt your anger rising. Why was he acting like this? Why was he hiding something from you? He had been your best friend for ten years. You had been inseparable since you had been 16. “Stop lying to me Todo!” His eyes widened as he heard you shouting. “Stop pretending that you’re okay, because I know that you’re not!”
His eyes grew wider as he thought about how well you knew him. He should have known that he would never be able to hide anything like this from you. He took a deep breath and started, fear striking him as he realized what he was about to do. “There’s this girl… and I really like her a lot… and it’s terrifying me. So I’ve been bottling myself up in this house so that I can avoid that. She deserves better than me. She deserves someone who’s going to always support her and who’s never going to cause her any trouble.” He took a deep breath before continuing. “I’m no good. She deserves to be happy with someone else.”
You almost laughed at him. You knew that there was more to this, but you didn’t want to push too much. He was finally opening up. “I hate to say it Todo, but it sounds more to me like you’re just afraid to be happy.”
He let his head drop. “That’s not true.”
“How do you know that you’re going to cause this girl all the trouble in the world? You don’t know if she thinks that you’re the most important person in the world. Maybe she’s been afraid to tell you all these things because she’s afraid you’ll reject her.” You paused and swallowed hard, hoping that you conveying these things would help him realize something. “Maybe she thinks the same thing about herself toward you? Maybe she thinks that you deserve better Todo.”
“She’s the most beautiful and amazing person I’ve ever met. She means the world to me. I wouldn’t ever want her to think down on herself.” He looked back up at your and a small, weak smile painted his face. “Y/n… I think I’m in love with you and that scares the crap out of me.”
You could barely speak as the words came out of his mouth. “Shoto… why does that scare you?”
“What if my marriage ends up like my parents? What if I drive you crazy? What if I become my dad?” You could feel the worry radiating off of him.
You stepped forward and cupped his face in your hands. “Shoto Todoroki, you might be a Todoroki, but you’re nothing like your father.” You smiled at him. “You’re smart and you’re kind and you’re everything that he isn’t.” You tried to keep his attention on you as he tried to look at the floor again. “You’re not your father and you never will be.”
At your words he grabbed your face and placed his lips to yours roughly. As your lips danced together all the worries of the world seemed to fade from the two of you. Shoto broke the kiss and watched you intently. “I love you, Y/n.”
You softly spoke as you reassured him. “I love you too, Shoto Todoroki.”
Hallo! Can I request Todoroki Shoto initially hating on the girl that his dad had chosen for him, but gradually taken a liking to her after going through some dangerous mission or something... Thank you!
This was a fun one to write. 😊 I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it. 🥰

Warnings: arranged quirk marriage ahead!

Word Count: 1,219
Abbreviations:
Q/n - quirk name
f/c - favorite color
h/c - hair color
Shoto had always hated the idea of an arranged quirk marriages, but it was what his father wanted. He had always been one to disobey his father and this time wasn’t any different. The last thing that he wanted to do was marry Y/n L/n when he didn’t even know who she was. She had grown up in the spotlight just like he had with parents that were big in the hero scene. Their parents had thought that their quirks combined would be one of the strongest quirks possible. With his half hot - half cold quirk and her Q/n, it would make the ultimate children.
When his father had come to him with her father and told him that they were to work a mission together he was appalled. Not only did he have to fight the arranged marriage, but now he would have to fight this arranged mission? His protests did nothing. Their parents' agencies would be working together and as far as his father said, he didn’t have a choice.
He dreaded the morning of the mission, hoping that it would never come. He didn’t want to get to know her more. Shoto wanted to be able to be with someone that he chose for himself. But when the morning did come he met her at the meeting spot, appeasing their parents, the look on her face saying that she was doing the same.
The parameters of the mission were told to them and their parents left, leaving the two of them awkwardly stand together. Shoto didn’t plan on breaking the silence. He was going to be as silent as he could this whole mission, but the young woman didn’t seem like she was happy with that. She finally held a hand out to him, giving him a weak smile, the tension rising. “I’m Y/n, it’s nice to meet you Shoto.”
Shoto calmed a little, at least she knew manners. He took her hand in his. “It’s nice to meet you too.” He let her hand go and turned away. “Try to keep up.”
Her smile turned from weak to motivated as she followed the young boy, tailing him quickly. Shoto was impressed, there weren’t many people out there that could keep up with his speed when he was really trying, but Y/n was right next to him.
They reached their destination quicker than they had anticipated. Their mission; take out the villains the resided in it. They were to have them ready and tied up before the police arrived, making it easy for them to scoop them up.
They were quiet as the approached the door, Shoto let her take the lead, he wanted to see what the girl had in her. Her hand reached out for the door handle, slowly turning it and cracking the door. She peeked her head forward, ensuring that no one had seen them. As the two entered the house they split ways, taking out enemies on their own.
After taking out two that had been watching T.V. in another room she made her way back toward the sound of Shoto’s quirk, expecting to see him about to apprehend the villain. As she entered the room he was in she noticed that he was on his back on the ground, a villain looming over him. She had to act quickly. With one swift movement, she threw her foot toward him, spinning and nailing him in the jaw. As the villain hit the ground she was back on her feet, running gracefully toward him and pinning him on his chest onto the ground, hands behind him and in the cuffs that their agencies had supplied each of them with.
Shoto was speechless. A villain had gotten the upper hand on him and she had swooped in and saved the day. If she had gotten there a couple of minutes later he would have been severely injured, if not gone. He stood slowly, watching her as she finished picking the villain off the ground and setting him up against the wall. She felt Shoto approach her, but his aura was different this time. Every time before that he was near her she had felt nothing but malice, but this time she felt admiration.
She took a deep breath. “I hope I didn’t overstep anything by taking him out for you. I just couldn’t tell if you needed the help and didn’t want to take the chance.”
Shoto held a hand up to stop her. “Thank you. If you hadn’t been there, I honestly don’t know what would have happened. I still can’t believe I let him get the best of me that easily.”
Before they could continue their conversation they heard the police starting to fill the building. The leader of their task force entered the room, looking at the two of them. “They’re all cuffed and ready to go. Mission complete.” She smiled at him and then turned back to Shoto, the leader leaving the room again. “I know that you probably don’t want anything to do with me since I know you don’t hide your distaste for this relationship, but I’d like to get to know you Shoto. It’s not like we have much choice in the-”
Shoto interrupted her. “How about lunch? We can go back and change and meet up for a nice meal.”
She smiled at him. “That’d be great.”

The restaurant bustled as Shoto waited in the lobby for her when she came through the door his jaw dropped some. He had never seen her out of her hero costume. In all of the photos, he had ever seen of her with her parents or just of her, she had always been in it. Now she stood before him in a f/c dress that flowed to her knees, hugging her body in all the right places. He stood from the bench and stepped forward, holding an arm out for her. She placed her arm in his and they approached the desk to be seated.
As they were brought to their table Shoto started to grow uneasy. He had an odd feeling in his chest. Was he starting to actually like this girl? They sat and started a conversation, slowly learning every little thing about each other. Every laugh that came from her lips made Shoto smile, her laugh was intoxicating. The more he learned the more he liked the girl.
She pushed her h/c behind her ears and looked down at her drink. “I know that it’s not something that either of us really planned on.” He knew exactly what she was talking about. “I just wanted to thank you for having lunch with me.”
Shoto raised his arms, placing his hands on hers on the table. “I wanted to do it. You saved my life, the least I could do is have a meal with you and actually get to know you.” He smiled when she looked back up at him. “I’m glad I did. I mean, the arranged marriage isn’t something that I ever saw in my future, but... I like you, Y/n. Maybe we can give at least give the relationship thing a try?”
She smiled back, a pink tinge lining her cheeks. “I’d really like that Shoto.”
