Showlog Addendum: Dirty Business @ CATSBY!

I totally forgot to write about this crazy ass scene we did, which was the "informative" part of the show in review. Sean and Misty were out initiating a scene, and I have no idea what the original intent was because before I could get a handle on what was happening Emerson had started making jazzy ride cymbal noises from the backline. Sean and Misty responded by adjusting their posture and playing it cool. I stepped off the backline and just stood behind Misty snapping with the rhythm. The scene involved an exchange of money so I was attempting to be a bodyguard of hired goon for Misty's character, but all I was doing was telling everyone to "be cool" and "slow down". Once Sean had given Misty the ten dollars she had asked for initially, we politely asked Sean's character if he had any more money, to which he replied "I don't see any reason why I would continue this."

The scene sort of devolved after that, but it was a lot of fun. What made it stand out as a scene is this was the first time we had experimented as a group, and we did it at a live show rather than a rehearsal. That says to me we have been working together long enough that we trust each other to the point where we are starting to take some risks here and there.

Showlog: Dirty Business @ CATSBY!

Tonight's show was enjoyable and informative. I felt like everyone got to mix it up out there. Group ownership was definitely at one of our higher points. It feels like with more time together we'll get to a place where we can listen more attentively and have a more natural feel to our scenes. We had a lot of yelling. Yelling rules.

We were short a man due to some heinous illness, and in working without Paul today it became clear to me not just how integral his presence in the group is (Iselle and I decided he was "the glue" of the group) but also how integral all members of the team are. We're like the Avengers or something. Hah who would be Iron Man? The Hulk? Oh man I hope I'd be the Hulk, or Thor. Thor is pretty boss. Am I getting sidetracked? That's weird, don't write too conversationally. Anyway...

Most importantly tonight was loose. I could feel everyone relax a little and just have some fun with it. Nothing beats the feeling of a performance gone smoothly.

I'm really proud of my team.
