She squints at it. “Why?” she asks. A hand reaches out to it. She knows she can’t touch it, but she wonders if it produces a similar warmth. “The air isn’t polluted here. You could just ... step outside.” The Capitol made very little sense to her to begin with, but the more she wandered ... the less sense it made. The light doesn’t even produce the same warmth that standing under a well-lit spot in a meadow would provide. What was the point of it?
Katniss looks down and huffs. There isn’t much point to it now. The Capitol is in shambles. It’s not safe for anyone to step foot anywhere. Not even citizens. If this fight ever ends, it will all be built anew, regardless of who wins. She looks to Caesar. “This must be weird for you,” she says, “Being in the Capitol when it looks like this like ... an arena.”
