In Reaching for the Stars (the name of my Warriors fanstory), not anyone can connect with Starclan. It requires a certain trait that the clan cats refer to as being Starcrossed. 

In RftS it’s strongly encouraged for all members of the clan to talk about strange dreams they have, as while it does show up in the eyes, the only true proof of being Starcrossed is actually succeeding in contacting Starclan. 

However, not all Starcrossed are equal. Usually healers and leaders have a strong version of Starcrossed, and most cats are not Starcrossed. 

I used the leadership + 1 warrior of Nightclan to show how it varies! Echostar is the most Starcrossed, and Shadowtongue is not Starcrossed at all.

i just wanted to share that in one of my fanclans i have a queen who is just. so bad at naming kits. she named her first two boys yawnkit and sneezekit, after the first things she saw them do the morning after they were born. her second litter she decides to give a theme--rhyming. they're rumblekit, tumblekit, and mumblekit. she's always suggesting names for new kits born into the nursery and all of the other monarchs have to figure out how to politely say hell no.
