“Ikusaba.”

It’s a great surprise that one of the first people he’d run into was someone he recognized, and though he’d never let it show, it was comforting. After waking up on a cold, hard bench, being ushered onto a bus with no destination...and only a flimsy piece of paper giving him any information about it all. Welcome to scenic Isola Radiale. Tch, what a joke. 

As for Ikusaba...they’d always had a bit of a back-and-forth between the two of them, but honestly -- there was no other classmate he respected more. (Of course, as they say, if he told her that he’d have to kill her -- and there’s no question that she’d do him in first.) However,  something seems different about her, and it isn’t just the scars that burn brightly against pale skin, cracks in porcelain. It’s her whole aura -- she had always been withdrawn from the others if not on edge, but this was something else entirely. Had something happened to her...?

...No matter; he’s never been one for pleasantries, so he simply cuts to the chase. “Do you have any idea what this place is? The information provided in the pamphlet was greatly...lacking.”

A gift bag is extended his way from a pale pair of hands: in it, he will find a package of dark chocolate coffee, and a mug shaped like a round cat, ceramic ears and all. Also inside the bag is the one and only Goosebumps™ Gator Stapler, a must-have for any businessman or boss around! Perhaps this would inspire him. "I figured you'd make use of all this. I went through a lot to find that stapler, so... Merry Christmas, Togami."

It starts with the coffee, bitter and aromatic; though it may not be Luwak, it smells wonderful all the same (perhaps even better, but he’d never admit it). Then comes the mug, completely adorable, hitting his sweet spot exactly -- he’s needed a good mug for coffee for a while now, and, completely unashamed of his unabashed love for cats, knows that this will most certainly get some good use. Everything is going perfectly, a most wonderful gift...and then at the bottom is...well. Well. 

He doesn’t know what to say. The heir who always has a snappy retort is quite literally at a loss for words as he takes out the oversized stapler, garishly purple and teethed. If nothing else, it’s functional. It will staple papers, and that...is a relief. Soon enough it will inconspicuously find its way to his desk, where it will sit and occasionally be used, not only by Togami himself but by Mukuro and possibly even Cardia as well -- for while it is certainly obnoxious, it was picked out with care, even if that care is laced with mischief and sarcasm.

Honestly, he wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Mukuro...” he trails off, still not sure what to say. If it were anyone else he’d be berating them already, but considering who he’s talking to... “Thank you for the gift. I can tell it’s...heartfelt.”

Another day, another notch in her notebook. After an eventful day of finding lost possessions and picking up any stray garbage that caught her eye, it’s about time to settle down for the day with a brisk walk down the main street of Cotes. Maybe the game store nearby had gotten a fresh set of titles...or maybe a ramen dinner was in order? She did have some money in her pocket, and the thought was enticing...maybe she’d even get a little adventurous and go for the Ramen and Sushi combo, like a true connoisseur. 

Hmmm....that didn’t sound as good if she didn’t have somebody to go with her, though...

The light ding of a nearby door opening slowly pulls her out of her thoughts, red hair brushing her cheeks as her gaze settles on the girl who exits the building with her hands full of bags. Wow, that’s a lot of...stuff? More importantly, while she certainly seems like she has a handle on it, it’s the perfect amount for a little bit of help, too! Just in case?

“E-Excuse me!” After momentarily psyching herself up, Futaba closes some of the distance between them, still remaining a healthy few feet away. After all, she wouldn’t like somebody invading her space. Put on your game face. You got this. 

“I was just wondering, do you, um, want some help?” She does her best to keep from seeming too nervous, but her wringing hands are still very visible. “I-I mean, that’s a lot of stuff, and I just thought it might be hard to carry...not that I don’t think you’re strong, or anything!”

“Is there a reason you’ve been following me?”

She’s felt the eyes on her back since stepping into the apartment building, a piercing gaze that would have easily intimidated a normal person. But Makino Yagami is not normal by any means, and she simply continues on to the apartment number she had been given upon arrival, testing to waters to see if her pursuer would follow. She knew right away that she wasn’t in any actual danger; she’s been in too many close calls and knows when looks can kill. This was a look that could kill, yes, but it wasn’t going to -- this was the curiosity that had killed the cat, and she, of course, certainly wasn’t one. This is why she turns around once she reaches the door, calmly addressing the girl who had been following her in a flat, almost emotionless voice. 

“You don’t seem the type to give yourself away so easily. Did you want me to notice you?”

          ➳ He wasn’t exactly given much instruction; in an unknown place dropped off by an unknown driver (and a bit of a rude one, at that), given an apartment number and sent on his way. Not introduction. No helpful information. Nothing.

There’s the awful, creepy feeling on the back of his neck that this feels a bit like trespassing. He knows it’s technically not; he’s been given a door code and a room key and everything-- though that barely serves as any comfort.

The quiet click as he closes the door behind him feels like it’s as loud as a gunshot. He winces, inches out of the foyer with the hopes that he wouldn’t get jumped by those already inside (it wouldn’t have been the first time that sort of thing had happened).

“Um-- hello?”

    The assassin had the physical strength and agility to fight off these monsters. She wasn’t the type to allow defense by someone else’s arms-- She was trained in fighting. Albeit, her practices weren’t necessarily with monsters akin to the Shamblers and Spectres. It felt like a sea of them, by that point. Maki couldn’t help and grow curiosity as for both this sudden spring of despair and as to the whereabouts of the people she had come to know. Whatever. In this moment, she didn’t have time to ponder.

    She had found herself amidst an abandoned flower shop, clearly thwarted earlier by the grey flower petals and a messy counter. Maki picked up a nearby shovel, gripping it tightly into her hand as she heard the sounds of a living dead nearby. With that, she snuck up behind and did a firm whack to the head. She knew she wasn’t alone, though. She had heard someone else nearby. In a calmed voice, she merely uttered, “If someone else is here, come out.”
