“If they had a claim, and they weren’t supposed to be covered by us at that time, we go back to the provider and say, we want to recoup those, and work out the accounting,” Gustafson said. “We pay providers on a monthly basis, so we want to true up. They need to bill another entity.”

BCBSVT is currently seeking an 8.3 percent premium increase. Gustafson denied that costly VHC errors are to blame.

I signed legislation today to help clean and redevelop #brownfields, or former industrial and commercial sites that are unusable due to contamination. These redevelopment projects will help create jobs, improve our communities and protect our environment from harmful pollutants.

This bill will ensure we do not inject chemicals into groundwater in a desperate pursuit for energy. It is a big moment. I hope other states will follow us. . . The science on fracking is uncertain at best. Let the other states be the guinea pigs. Let the Green Mountain State preserve its clean water, its lakes, its rivers and its quality of life.
