I'm gonna make this blog a place where l can dump my fantasy drawings. Gonna let my imagination go...wherever! I will always love Winterprincess, I'm just expanding a bit...ok a lot! I have an idea for Bucky and Misty Knight that's been in my mind for a while.
Anyway, I did a quick sketch of Shuri and Namor while l had some time and the idea in my head. I may fine tune it and color it at a later time.
Even in quarantine, generating motivation to write from scratch can be hard... almost as hard as finishing an existing WIP. (Trust me, I know the feeling)
With this in mind + to commemorate the Winterprincess fandom crossing 200 fics on AO3, @your-girl-is-lovely and I are putting out a new fandom writing challenge! As I’ve dubbed it, the “Finish My Fic” exchange.
Here’s the breakdown: this challenge has authors put up their unfinished WIPs for a virtual “auction” of sorts -- WIPs that another author will then finish for them, in their own style and as they see fit.
It’s a writing experiment like no other -- how will a different author’s plotting and style influence your own approach to their story? It promises to get those creative juices flowing (and those damn WIPs finished at last!)
To participate, as an author: you will give me a quick summary/sizzler reel of your WIP, along with a short snippet (<100 words) to show off the piece’s writing style/general tone/etc. Please reply to this post, send a message or inbox me to get a link to this form.
I’ll be gathering these during the week-long submission period, after which there will be another week-long “bidding” period during which you can rank the WIPs you want to work on based on the summaries and snippets you’ve read (with the original author’s name withheld, to make things extra interesting). You can also submit the # of WIPs you are willing to take one (one, two, five) -- though in the end, the number of WIPs you choose to finish is entirely up to you.
So, for example -- you can rank order five WIPs you like, but then clarify that of the five, you would like to work on, say, no more than two WIPs maximum (or one, or six, whatever).
Immediately after this, matches will be made -- pairing each author with the WIP(s) they wanted to write. While we will try to make the matches entirely unique, there may be scenarios where one WIP is “finished” by more than one author.
Finally, there will be a twenty day writing period, at the start of which you will be given full access to the original writer’s WIP draft + notes (again, with the original author’s name withheld to keep it all interesting). You can take the time to finish the WIP however you’d like -- whether that means making edits to the author’s original structure/style/choices or doing a study of it and maintaining it throughout.
At the very end, there will be the option to submit to an AO3 collection and to the Tumblr tag #finishmyfic -- and we’ll reveal who finished whose WIPs, too! :)
Sound like something you’d be interested in? Read on for the rules and deadlines.
Ground Rules:
The WIP needs to be, by your own assessment, at least 15% complete. Bare bones fic is one thing.... nonexistent is another, lol.
These WIPs need to be one-shots only. Multi-chapter fics are too complicated.
You can submit as many WIPs as you want, but whether they are picked up by someone is based entirely on how the bidding process goes and how many WIPs other authors feel like they want to take on.
There are no rules on word count -- the author finishing your WIP can increase or decrease the word count as they see fit.
WIPs need not be only Shuri x Bucky -- WIPs with just Shuri or Bucky in separate pairings are also welcome! We love them both :)
Relevant Deadlines:
The initial WIP submission period will run from May 2nd through May 9th, 11:59 pm EST.
The bidding period will run from May 10th through May 17th, 11:59 pm EST.
The writing period will run from May 18th through June 7th, 11:59 pm EST.
FINALLY:
To join this challenge: please reply to this post, send a message or inbox me to get a link to the form to submit your WIPs!
Watch this space and the tag #finishmyfic for more details. Thanks!
I've come with good news! Or at least, I hope it would be good news to you. Last time I checked the T'Cherik fandom is thriving! Although I will admit that we're still having rough patches. As you probably already know, most of the Black Panther fandom has kicked us to the curve and left us to the wolves, so some of us get real fucking nasty stuff in our inboxes. On the bright side though, Thorki shippers seem to be our friends, bless em, the absolute sweethearts. Point is, we're still here! :)
I will never understand how people can condemn dark subjects in fiction while acting out the same behavior IRL. I guess they just can’t see the hypocrisy. The most unsettling part is that I used to get hate from racist in fandom now I get hate from other Black fans for behaving inappropriately. SMDH
Stil it’s great news! The only thing that makes my dark heart happier than seeing "inappropriate" ships thrive, is "inappropriate" shippers finding friends in other ships and fandoms.
