Toree 2 Game Design Analysis & Review
Toree 2
Toree 2, developed by indie creator Siactro, is a short and fast paced 3D platformer that knows exactly what it wants to be. The game focuses on speed, charm, and accessibility, and it succeeds at delivering an enjoyable experience in a compact runtime.
Level Design and Gameplay
One of Toree 2’s strongest elements is its level design. The stages feel inventive in the way they offer players small choices, which is not something every platformer of this size attempts. Instead of forcing a single path forward, the levels allow for quick decisions that reward momentum without slowing the pace.
The gameplay feels energetic and responsive overall, giving the game a strong retro platformer feel. At times, it even brings to mind classic Sonic the Hedgehog energy, where speed and flow are central to the fun.
The character controller, however, can feel a bit slippery. Movement sometimes feels as though Toree is running on ice, which can make precision more difficult than intended. This is not a deal breaker, but it is an area that could be improved.
Visuals and Presentation
Visually, Toree 2 keeps things simple and charming. The main character design is cute and expressive, yet the game pairs this with darker and more unsettling enemy designs. This contrast works surprisingly well and gives the game more personality than its minimal visuals might suggest.
The user interface is clean and easy to understand. Everything is readable at a glance, which fits perfectly with the game’s fast pace.
Sound and Music
There is a good reason the soundtrack is sold separately. Toree 2 features several standout tracks that pair nicely with the game’s speed and tone. The sound effects are equally charming and help reinforce the playful nature of the experience.
Story and Replay Value
The story is simple, short, and wholesome. It fits the game’s length perfectly and never overstays its welcome.
Replay value comes mostly from the short runtime and the enjoyable boss battle at the very end. While it may not be a game players return to constantly, it is easy to imagine revisiting it for another quick run.
Final Thoughts
Toree 2 is a cute and fun platformer with a lot of charm packed into a small experience. A slightly slippery character controller keeps it from reaching its full potential, but the strong level design, memorable music, and clear presentation make it well worth playing.
Rating: Four out of five toe beans! 🐾🐾🐾🐾❌ A fast and charming indie platformer that leaves a positive impression.

My favorite aesthetic is haunted. Not horror, but just the overwhelming sense that you're beholding something you shouldn't be. Like walking through a mall, fully lit, stores stocked and open, muzak playing, but the place is devoid of people except for you.
Recently I found and played a number of games by a creator named Siactro. Super Kiwi 64, Macbat 64, Toree 3D, Toree 2, and Beeny. They're all lovingly well-crafted, and absolutely haunted.
Each one feels like an old school Rareware game, mostly N64 era, and they're absolutely the sort of thing that a creepypasta Let's Player would vanish while playing.
I won't spoil anything, save to say they're very well made, amazingly cheap (on Switch I was able to get the entire collection for around 10 dollars) and some of the most unnerving experiences I've had in a while.
I got a review code for a game inspired by N64 gems like Banjo-Kazooie, Super Mario 64, and Glover.
Will it live up to its inspirations or will it hit the mark?
Find out in this video :3
Also huge shoutout to @siactro for giving me a review code.

Kiwi 64 is a small hommage to that one 3D collect-a-thon platformer by that one UK gamedeveloper.
