Hey there! I had just read your story Calls Me Home, and its AU Fic - Minute Details and I must say that I am rather impressed by the way your write your stories, especially the background about animal-humans. To be honest, what I am most intrigued by was the Minute Details, the one where Danni was the younger sister of Nico Robin. Would it be alright if I was to request a short story about Robin meeting the Straw-Hat Pirates with Danni there, and Robin's shock (or lack-of) with Pirate!Danni?
Honestly, Robin had been expecting it really.
Not Danni joining the Mugiwara Crew, specifically, but her younger sister becoming an actual pirate and following after her anyway. But it explained Luffy’s adamant refusal to let her die even if it meant he fell in her place (there was something else there too when he had been yelling at her to live - something akin to a desperate fear that made her think about home and not knowing if her baby sister was alive or -), and well. Danni was hard pressed to hold a grudge, but Robin knew her sister would have never forgiven her if she had just let herself die.
“Danni,” Robin couldn’t help but sigh, resisting the urge to rub at her forehead.
The Mugiwara Crew were staring at the younger dark haired girl, who was beaming happily at her sister, seemingly oblivious to the looks on her crewmate’s faces. “Nee-chan!” she chirped brightly, bouncing forward and looping her arms around the older woman in a tight hug.
“Danni-,” Nami started, sounding strained. “Miss Sunday is your sister?”
The other girl pouted, brow furrowing, and pointed out, “I did tell you all she was a member of the Baroque Works.” Nami made a strangled noise, while Usopp looked like he was about to faint (so did Chopper for that matter, though he was looking a little confused too). Robin noted that Roronoa was now looking relaxed, rather than eyeing her like a suspicious threat, and Luffy looked even more excited than before. Sanji had an odd look on his face as he watched the two woman, but Robin couldn’t quite place what she was seeing from him (jealousy? confusion? want? it was rather muddled).
“Danni,” Robin couldn’t help but admonish. Hadn’t she taught the girl caution about sharing information? Danni only pouted at her, blue eyes wide and begging.
“You should join our crew!” Luffy finally burst out excitedly - and apparently that was the end of that. The crew easily accepted her, which was shocking to Robin, who couldn’t remember a time she had ever been accepted so easily into someone’s life. Danni was practically bouncing around the ship in glee, clinging to anyone and everyone and babbling incessantly. Robin couldn’t help the fond smile forming even if she wanted too.
“She told us about you, you know,” Zoro told her idly, slumping down next to her and eyeing her with sharp eyes (but not hostile or suspicious like before, Robin noted bemusedly).
Robin returned the look solidly, “Oh?” She wasn’t too surprised by that - anyone Danni got even a little close too ended up hearing about her amazing big sister in some way (though the younger girl was always careful to never give out any actual incriminating information, somehow).
The swordsman hummed, “Wouldn’t shut up sometimes about her amazing older sister who always protected her no matter what.” Robin blinked at that, tried to think of some response to that, but one wasn’t needed as Zoro continued, “Told us her big sister did a lot of bad things even though she didn’t want to in order to protect them - we all got a rather big heap of respect of someone we hadn’t even met yet.”
Zoro looked away from her, but she got the message. They accepted her, because, honestly, they already knew her because of her sister. Danni had found the best crew to become a pirate with - and Robin found she legitimately wanted to join too.
(thank you for reading Danni’s story! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! :DD)
