Masterlist
“Knock knock,” you looked up at Dean walking into your room, leaning on the doorframe.
“Hey, what’s up?” you asked, leaning back in your chair.
“It’s past midnight, don’t you want to sleep?” he asked.
You looked back at your clock, seeing it was nearly 1 in the morning. You were too nervous to fall asleep, not that you’d tell Sam and Dean or even Castiel. There was already so much going on and you didn't want to add to their stress.
“I’m almost done with my homework,” you lied.
Dean frowned softly, looking at the clock once more.
“Don’t stay up too late,” he gave you a small kiss on your forehead before walking out of your room.
Sleep never came easy to any Winchester, no matter who it was. But for you, it was even harder. You always seemed tired, and all you wanted was to be able to sleep peacefully, but you couldn't. Since forever, you’d have nightmares when you slept, even before you started hunting.
Only recently, it became worse. You had sleep paralysis. You would always wake up in the middle of the night, usually around two or three, and your heart would be racing, your body paralyzed and you were unable to talk or yell out. You decided to try and stay up more, possibly to keep whatever it was away.
You looked down on your arm, seeing a scar, starting from your elbow down to your wrist. Sam and Dean assumed it was from hunting, and you intended to keep it that way.
You were already exhausted, staying up as much as you could. It had been nearly four days since you last slept, and you wanted to go on longer. You waited 15 minutes after seeing Dean’s lights go off before turning off your own, grabbing a book, your headphones, and a knife. Not that you’d be able to use the knife if something came at you, but it was good to have even a small sense of security.
You plugged your headphones in, putting on the loudest songs you could before turning on your nightlight.
You pulled your blanket off your bed, before turning your fan on. If it was cold you wouldn't be able to fall asleep.
You let out a shaky breath, before sitting in your bed, opening your book. As the night went on, it became harder and harder to stay awake. It was nearly 1:40 by the time you let out a small cry, taking the headphones out of your ears before resting your head in your hands.
You wiped away your tears, letting out a small breath before sniffling.
Why does this have to happen to me?
Ten minutes
All you needed, ten minutes. Nothing could happen in ten minutes. You’d set an alarm, put it right next to your head to wake you up. It was risky but you needed to rest. You’d never felt this level of exhaustion before.
You set your alarm, turning off all your lights before looking at the clock once more, closing your eyes.
---
You woke up in the middle of the night, hearing a loud noise of something breaking as you opened your eyes. You could feel the sweat dripping from your face, your breathing labored.
You tried to move but found it nearly impossible to do so. It felt like someone or something was pinning you down.
You tried to open your mouth to speak out, but couldn't. No sound came out of your mouth as tears rushed to your eyes.
Not again
You could feel something in the room with you, some sort of supernatural presence. You could hear small noises, seeing a shadow as you felt something grab at you.
You gasped loudly, jumping out of bed before looking around, quickly turning on your lights. There was nothing there.
You looked at the clock, seeing it was 3:30 in the morning. Your alarm didn't go off. You took deep breaths, wrapping your arms around your body before holding back your cries, not wanting anyone to hear you.
You looked at your leg, seeing something on it. It was a faded mark of a handprint. You turned on all your lights, before trying to calm your breathing, gripping your knife tightly.
---
“What time did you wake up?” Dean sat next to you in the war room.
You shrugged, wrapping your arms around yourself as you looked at your laptop screen.
“Well, what are you looking at?” he looked at your laptop, seeing the tab open.
Sleep paralysis.
He frowned, pulling your laptop to him as you sighed.
“Dean,” you started.
“What makes you think you have sleep paralysis?” Dean asked.
You could have told him about last night, about something grabbing you and leaving a mark. You could’ve told him about any of the instances where you woke up with bruises, but you shook your head, deciding to lie.
“I’m just working on a school project,” you lied.
“It’s Saturday. Not school-project-day,” Dean said.
“Just want to stay ahead,” you replied.
He frowned, before Sam walked into the bunker, asking what's going on.
“It’s Saturday. Tell this kid to get off their laptop, and hang out with us. They don't need to work on school today, they’ve been staying up all week to work,” Dean turned to Sam, who also took a seat next to you.
“How much sleep did you get this week?” Sam frowned.
“I got enough sleep,” you said.
They both sighed, rolling their eyes.
“Either you take Melatonin tonight, or tell us what’s going on.”
You felt your eyes water slightly as you looked up at the two of them.
“I’m not researching sleep paralysis for school,” you said softly.
You saw them both tense before Sam put their hand on your shoulder.
“Talk to us,” they both bent down to look at you as you wiped your tears away.
“I don’t… You know I’ve always had problems sleeping but it’s getting worse,” your voice was barely above a whisper as they both looked at you with concern.
“Well, sleep paralysis is caused by lack of sleep, stress, sometimes drugs cause it. You’re not… you’re not taking anything, right?” Sam asked.
You shook your head no.
“Well, what’s stressing you out?” Dean asked.
“The fact that I keep waking up with bruises and scars,” you sighed.
“So then this is probably from the lack of sleep. How much sleep are you getting?” Sam asked.
“Even when I get a normal amount of sleep, I still get the paralysis,” you shook your head.
“Well, try again. See if actually taking Melatonin helps. I’m gonna call Cas too,” Dean said.
“What? No, Dean,” you started.
“You called?” Castiel appeared in front of the three of you as you shook your head.
“This is extra. I’m fine, really,” you knew you were lying to yourself but you didn't need them to get stressed out too.
“We’ll be the judge of that,” Dean said.
Your eyes watered slightly before you nodded your head softly.
“Come here,” the three of them wrapped their arms around you as you took a deep breath, giving them a small smile before walking away.
---
It was officially night, nearly 11 PM. You took the melatonin provided by Sam, as you sat up in your bed, taking shaky breaths.
“Are you okay?” you jumped, as Sam walked into your room.
“Yeah,” you nodded your head softly.
“You know, we’re right here if something happens,” Sam said softly.
“I know, thanks Sammy,” you gave him a small smile before laying down in the bed, stiff, while Sam turned off the lights.
“Goodnight, kiddo,” he gave you a small kiss on your forehead before walking out of your room.
---
You woke up in the middle of the night, feeling your heart racing.
It didn't work
You kept your eyes closed, letting out a shaky breath. You felt that strange presence again as you felt yourself panicking even more. You wanted to yell out for Sam, Dean, and Castiel, but you couldn't speak either.
You opened your eyes slowly, seeing a shadow floating over your body. Your anxiety was taking over you as you tried to control your breathing, seeing a cloaked figure float on top of you.
You saw its eyes, a dark shade of yellow. It was on top of you as your breathing labored, feeling it grip onto your arms tightly.
It's not real, it’s not real
You tried to convince yourself, feeling it digging its nails into your arms. You felt more and more tears rush down your eyes as you looked up at it, feeling helpless.
“(Y/N),” you heard it moan your name as you felt it let go of you, pushing yourself out of bed before screaming.
The three of them ran into your room, while Sam flipped on your lights.
You cried shakily, wrapping your arms around yourself tightly.
“Hey, hey! What happened?!” Dean yelled, putting his hand on your shoulder.
“I…I-It was a monster, i-it touched me, it grabbed me. I-I…” you cried, burying yourself in Dean’s arms.
He wrapped his arms around you tightly, kissing your forehead.
“It’s okay, I got you,” Dean tried to calm you as you closed your eyes tightly, crying into his chest.
“You’re safe now. It’s okay,” he wiped the tears off your cheeks before stroking your back softly, trying to comfort you.
“Nothing works. It won't s-stop,” you cried softly.
“We’ll figure this out,” Castiel made his way around your room, looking for any signs of anything supernatural.
“There’s no use. It’d be easier if I was dead,” you saw Sam jump at your words before they put their hands on your shoulders.
“Don’t say that,” they shook their head.
“Sammy, I’ve been fighting this thing for a long time. I’m scared and I’m tired.”
The two of them wrapped their arms around you, before turning to face Castiel, seeing a concerned look on his face.
“Just stay here for a minute,” you nodded softly before Castiel pulled Dean and Sam out of the room.
---
“A Shtriga? They go after children. (Y/N) would have had to interact with it before, and they're smart. Also, the victim of a Shtriga falls unconscious after being fed on once,” Dean shook his head in disbelief.
“In some cases, yes. If there is more than one type of jinn, would it be that impossible to be more than one type of Shtriga?” the three of them looked into your room, seeing you wrapped your arms around your legs, wrapped in a ball.
“And what if it’s not, Sam? (Y/N) could be in more trouble than before,” the two of them began to argue, before seeing Castiel roll his eyes, walking past them and into your room.
“(Y/N),” your head shot up, looking anxiously at Castiel.
“What other symptoms have you experienced? Besides fatigue?” he asked.
You bit your nail, before sniffling softly.
“I don't… I just feel tired and empty,” you shook your head softly.
Castiel put his arm on your shoulder as you winced, pulling away from him.
He frowned softly, while Sam and Dean made their way into your room, watching carefully.
“Show me,” Castiel said.
You nodded softly, pulling your arm out of your sleeves, seeing a large bruise on your arm, in the shape of a handprint. You tensed, more tears rushing to your eyes as you closed your eyes, taking shaky breaths.
“Is it just on your arms?” Sam asked.
You shook your head, rolling up your pant sleeve to reveal another handprint from a few days ago.
You saw all three of them tense before Sam nodded his head.
“Same like those kids. Cas is right. It is a Shtriga,” Sam sighed.
“What the hell is that?” your voice cracked slightly, looking at all three of them.
“It's a supernatural creature. But, we know how to kill it, or at least get rid of it for a long time,” Dean explained.
Sam walked to you, holding your hand.
“Here’s what needs to happen…”
---
“I’m scared,” you looked up at Dean fearfully, while he loaded the bullets into his gun.
“We know what we have to do. We’ll be right here. I’m in your closet and Sam’s under the bed. Cas is right outside the door,” Dean stroked your cheek softly, while you took a deep breath.
“What if you’re too late?” you asked.
“We won’t be. You can do this, (Y/N),” he replied.
You wrapped your arms around him tightly, letting out a few more breaths.
“Goodnight, (Y/N/N),” Dean kissed your forehead, before turning off your room lights.
---
You felt like your heart was about to be ripped from your chest, struggling to breathe as you felt an immense amount of pressure on your body. You couldn't move, as you opened your eyes slowly, feeling the creature make its way to you, floating on top of you.
They’re going to save me
You could feel it pressing onto your body tightly, knowing there would be bruises after all this.
All you could hear in your ears was a loud ringing, everything sounded distant. You could feel yourself getting more and more drowsy, feeling your life leaving your body.
Everything felt surreal, hearing the gunshots echo, seeing the Shtriga turn into smoke, disappearing. You could feel Sam and Dean yelling at you, shaking your body to get a reaction. But you couldn't move, you couldn't react. You were yelling as hard as you could, but nothing was coming out of your mouth.
“Cas!” Dean yelled.
“Cas, get your ass down here!” he yelled.
“They’re freezing,” Sam commented, putting his hand on your forehead.
“Then we need some blankets. Shit!” Dean yelled. Sam ran out of the room, finding all things they could to warn you up, and try to take you out of this paralyzed state.
“Hey, kid. Look, it’s over. Hey, say something, please,” Dean put his hands on your cheek, pushing the hair out of your face.
“(Y/N), come on, kiddo. Say something,” Dean yelled, wrapping his arms around you tightly.
“Here!” Sam brought in a few more blankets, while the two of them wrapped them around you.
“We fucked up,” Sam ran their fingers through their hair, taking shaky breaths, while their eyes watered.
“No, (Y/N)'s going to be fine. They’re gonna… look, we’ll just…” you tried your hardest to call out to Sam and Dean, but found it hard to do so.
“We can’t take them to a hospital, Dean! How are we supposed to explain what happened?” Sam yelled.
“We're not taking them to the hospital! Just give me a minute to think!” Dean yelled.
Sam sighed, before checking your pulse.
“They’re alive,” he said softly.
“Just…” Dean’s voice faded as he sighed, holding your hand.
“Come on, (Y/N). Say something, please.”
