sleep . i know it’s been a hot minute since i last interacted with a tanjiro in-character, but just in case it wasn`t obvious enough before, i absolutely adore the kamado siblings &. their dynamic --- i love that tanjiro would do anything to protect nezuko &. assures her that he will turn her back into a human any chance he gets ( said with an unwarranted amount of confidence matched by his usual blinding optimism ), even when her future is uncertain, even when there is suffering &. punishment to endure for the price of harboring a demon ; i love that, even though her human memories has all but faded, nezuko will lay down her life if it means her brother gets to live another day. their connection is on a tightrope, but it could never be severed.
&. there’s no power imbalance! each has their own immense strength with the ability to take down upper-level demons independently, separate &. different from each other ( with tanjiro`s calculated fortitude contrasting nezuko`s erratic power ), yet they’re stronger together, practically unstoppable. they`re an honest-to-god team. i know that is like... the bare minimum to gush over, but i’m so used to the narrative of the overbearing protective older brother doting on his younger sister to the point of that she loses her agency in lesser stories, that it`s a breath of fresh air that, yes, nezuko does, &. will, stand up for herself. without permission! because tanjiro respects her enough to make her own decisions ( that point is emphasized in-text! ). even during times when it`s reckless &. detrimental for her. like, that trust...
it`s normally popular to attribute sun &. moon symbolism for romantic relationships, but to break that mold for a bit, it`s honestly pretty fitting for the siblings --- tanjirou being as bright as the sun, &. nezuko being mysterious as the dark side of the moon, bold &. demure, light &. darkness ; foils yet a direct mirror to each other.
