↬ @sicae says, “ i had to see you. ”
the interruption is a blessing. their frustration was building; so far from a clear and calm mind and no matter how hard they try, the peace shatters. skiá’s arrival saved the table from an attack.
“ why ? ” they’ve twisted on the chaise, thrown an arm over its back. when his words actually settle, their expression twists from mild annoyance to confusion ( and perhaps a touch of relief. . . or delight ). “ you’re brave. i think the others give this room a wide berth when i try to speak to solas. ”
small talk before the actual question. rambling to make themself feel at ease, but it doesn’t work. it never works.
“ you. . . had to see me ? ”
i fear i have fallen in love with your character and have no desire to nor possess any intention at all of getting up. your writing is beautiful and i love how you tell a story in each of your replies. i look forward to our chats alongside our threads.
beep! beep! how’s my portrayal?
i fear, i too have fallen for every single muse that you’ve graced this dash with. your attention to detail, the care you put in, writing with you has been a dream come true. i adore you to the moon and back, my darling. remember, until the world ends.
@sicae: " i know i'm the last person you probably want to see, but… " / accepting.
what a consistently odd turn of phrase -- she does not often think of how much she wants to see people; perhaps others do. the world is, ultimately, never big enough to avoid encountering people one knows. her expression reflects that train of thought, brow pinched & head tilted. "i had not expected to see anyone, nor was i particularly keen anyhow. but you are here now."
@sicae: (NEAR) for receiver to lay near the sender's back but not quite touch them. / accepting.
one might suspect that her prior experiences would spur the elf to develop better habits. but that would involve some sense of personal reflection that was constructive -- her only time spent doing so was to tear herself down & commit further to working herself into the dirt. hence her presence here, pouring over letters by the light of one candle, when she should be sleeping. it isn't until her eyelids begin falling in spite of her efforts that she tactically retreats, blowing out her candle & curling onto her side. ezra feels the warmth radiating from the other, a respectable distance away & facing out. "you get first watch," she mumbles, already half-asleep.
Masada Museum: The Sicarii
Sicarii hid small daggers called sicae in their cloaks. Like silent, stealthy assassins, they would blend in with the crowd then in a split-second strike of a snake, they would whip out their sicae and attack Romans, and disappear. #Sicarii #Masada
David and I are once again in Israel, the “Beautiful Land,” as the prophet Daniel described it. The Museum connected with the Masada National Park provides narrative for both what it meant to be a Roman soldier in the first and second centuries CE, and what the rebels’ lives were like during their time on Masada. Friday was the exhibit on Roman soldiers. Today is about the Sicarii, the last of…

sicae found you.
[ Java may or may not be chatting Alexis about things that may or may not be slightly illegal, but he is definitely sitting in the corner of Crossroads nearest to the entrance and almost done with his mocha. ]
[ He is also completely failing to notice Jude because he's too busy grinning at something Alexis said. ]
sicae started following you
[ He doesn't find anything interesting about you. It's clear in the upward tilt of his head, the loose set of his shoulders, the bored look in his too-blue eyes. There's nothing about you to keep his attention. (But isn't that just how you want it?) ]
Evening, [ he says; polite, remote. ] Something I can help you with?
