“Y-YOU CU--” He began, when she let her hand off, but was silenced when a second knife buried itself in his forearm. Endessa hummed.

“And if you give me something on Moonsong? Well, then perhaps you’ll have a good death.”

When she was finished, Endessa pulled, in total, nineteen knives out of Henry James Ruger’s body. Off of his body, she took everything of value-- coin purse, rings, and identification papers. Whomever found his body would likely think that Henry had brushed, unfortunately, with some maniac thief. And Endessa, she was back through in Stormwind without a trace left behind her.

This offering from Marvel is aptly named. It’s called Side Pieces, because there isn’t an ongoing story here, instead we get five separate stories from five guest writers. Given that there is no continuity, it is a little uneven. 

It may be uneven, but it’s still well worth reading. The Spidey/Deadpool pairing is endlessly entertaining, and basically the most fun you can have reading comics. Guest writer Penn Jillette offers up the weakest of the storylines, putting himself and stage partner Teller in the middle of the story. I don’t blame him, if I was writing a Deadpool comic, I’d squeeze myself in it as well. 

The strongest by far is a Christmas story brought to us by comedian Paul Scheer with Nick Giovannetti. In this one, Deadpool and Spidey have to save Christmas after Saturn (the God, not the planet) comes to the present day angry because his bachannalian holiday of Saturnalia has been turned into soft and fuzzy Christmas. 

Besides those two, we get a romp through Hollywood (possibly the most fourth wall breaking Deadpool comic ever), a blast to the past with a sixties-themed story, and an excellent story where some coven of witches slash boarding school girls in Toronto summon Deadpool’s soulmate, which winds up being Spider-Man. (Cue all shippers!)

Even though there is no continuity with the rest of the Spider-Man/Deadpool series, this is highly recommended for avid readers, but possibly even more highly recommended for those just trying to dip their toes into graphic novels and don’t know where to start.
