   “Alright boss…almost there.” John kept his hands over the man’s eye’s, carefully walking him through the home until he made it to the dining room. He’d worked his tail off for this and like hell would he let his boss sneak a peek at what he’d put together.

   It wasn’t much, he knew that, but it was meant to be a sort of ‘thank you’ mixed with ‘Merry Christmas’. And yes, it was a week before Christmas but he was calling it a Christmas dinner anyways. A rump roast that he’d had cooking in the crock pot since that morning, various vegetables, a loaf of bread that he’d finished baking just before he got here, and a Black Forest cake with cherries that had soaked in cherry liquor between the cake layers. Over the surface, he had a dark chocolate frosting and then whipped cream along the bottom edge and then delicately adorning the top. The rest of the soused cherries were set on top with the sauce they had been in drizzled over the top.

   John didn’t play; everything on that table had been made from scratch and if his boss had one complaint, he was going to strangle him.

   Helping him into a chair, John finally pulled his hands away and grinned, “Kinda early but…Merry Christmas.”
