Silence Doesn’t Help

Lucy was walking around campus, trying to clear her head. Today was a long day filled with frustrating homework and professors that don’t know how to teach. She noticed that she would just glare at the same page of biology notes for a solid half-hour, so, on a little walk she went.
Going through the university’s little garden usually helped her calm down. Lucy isn’t a nature girl by any means, but listening to the rustling leaves and the small animals currying around really helped ground herself and come back down from whatever the hell was going on in her life. She learned to do this thanks to her mother.
Lucy sat down at a table that was in the center of the garden. She took out a book that she was reading, something about Zodiac myths, and just focused on the stories that she was indulged in.
Lucy sighed happily, “Man, I already feel so much calmer, I don’t want to punch my desk in half anymore! I’ll probably stay a little longer-”
Lucy her a twig snap behind her. She froze. She straightened up and felt her heartbeat speed up.
“Oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god.”
