she’d been in this town for little over three days, but she’d already learned as much as she wanted to about its residents. the cliche b&b owner whose establishment she was currently calling home, the overly chipper barista that always served her morning coffee. the florist she’d visited on a whim, though hadn’t ended up buying anything from. it was all typical of a town this size and frankly ? she was growing bored. escaping the city was always a relief at times, she always felt happier in a smaller town like this one with easy access to the natural world with which she felt somewhat bonded to. but she could never make these short stays permanent. town life was so dull in comparison to the city she knew and loved.
it was on the third day that the local she was chatting to in the coffee shop had lowered his tone slightly when she’d asked about anyone interesting to get to talk to here and her brows rose in curiosity. a grown man living alone in the middle of the woods, only visiting once a week that nobody knew anything about ? well wasn’t that a horror story just waiting to happen. a slight smile had tilted her scarlet lips at the challenge.
it was on the same day that she’d spotted the man that had been described to her walking into what had quickly become her favourite coffee shop, and the smile tilted her lips once more. heeled boots clicked against the flooring as she entered the cafe, sending a flirtatious smile at the barista whilst eyeing the mysterious man queuing ahead of her. she waits to collect her order before moving to the table he’d claimed, dropping gracefully into the seat opposite him. “ so -- ” she never was a fan of small talk. painted lips tilt in an interested smile, one eyebrow quirked. “ what’s your deal ? ”
