peppermint, darjeeling 🌹
darjeeling: a hobby?
To the mild annoyance of my english teacher, I read a lot of novels but rarely the ones that are “appropriate” for my diploma exam
peppermint:what’s your favourite holiday and why?
I have a childish glee when it comes to Chinese New Year, because it is always passed in a riot of rich colours and a series of traditions which makes it much more spectacular than any other holiday my family celebrates.
My father and I will wreck havoc in flower markets as we “compete” with others to load our arms with as many orchid blooms and plum blossoms we could possibly carry to decorate the apartment foyer with. Then out comes the round tray of sweets, with candied lotus and white rabbit candy, ferrero rochers and melon seeds. In the kitchen, my mother fries carrot cake after taro cake after new year’s cake after coconut cake.
The part I love the most is taking the train to Guangzhou, China, where my grandmother presides over the annual banquet dinner in whichever elegant hotel she decides to choose. It’s not the wonderful food that makes me the happiest, or finally seeing my cousins again - but the thrumming in my fingertips as I ride in one of the cars after dinner, as we all head on an hour’s drive to the village that my relatives live in. It’s the knowledge that it will be well after midnight when we arrive, and that nobody cares, as we run out into the grass, drinking strong tea and lighting fireworks in the dark and being consumed by a heady happiness as I lay down on the grass.
Kelly I just /had/ to express my gratitude for the words you post! They're so beautiful, I look forward to seeing them on my dash every day! You have amazing taste 🌹

so I was wondering if this can be all be part of a group project where we send one package to another person, so we can receive something unique + extraordinary each month?
we could have a chat where we can be friends first! I know this isn’t like the traditional penpal concept but I’m hoping this will be able to work out 💖 please send me all your suggestions !! 💖

in another time was most likely a poetess princess
I’m really glad to have met her <3
if you’re in the mood to take a break from this particular reality, allow me to direct you over to an interactive game made of nothing but distilled dreams, spiderwork hallucinations and gorgeous prose.
@silhouetteofsilk replied to your post:I am not enjoying Robert Louis Stevenson’s writing...
it sucks. and i live in edinburgh.
Ahhh I expected something much more captivating. Damn Mary Shelley raising the bar too high.~
