So I'm starting to watch this series called 'Silk' .... Wait is that Irene Adler(Moriarty) from Elementary? ... I'll give this show a try because twenty minutes in and I'm intrigued.

Watching a British legal drama called Silk, and the main character is interesting.

(She's a criminal barrister--lawyer--who wants to eventually get the title of QC, Queen's Council. For non-Commonwealth people, you're probably thinking "...uh, ok?" but in Canada and the UK and elsewhere in the Commonwealth, it's a big freaking deal. You get it based on experience if you apply for it, or nominated by your peers. EDIT When Queen Elizabeth II inevitably dies some years from now though, and Charles is King, we revert [back] to "King's Council". All the federal courts will need to be renamed. Around the world. "Court of Queen's Bench" sounds cooler though. But barely anyone is around from when it was last "Court of King's Bench" I don't think.)

Also has the guy who played Jr Detective in Law & Order UK is on this show as a snorting solicitor. And I think Merlin's "Merlin" is on here...or at least someone who looks like him. And the lady who plays...Susan in Sherlock? Yeah, she's here too. And the witness is played by an older fellow who played a sick and twisted white supremacist in Second Sight --starring Clive Owen ("because Britain only has 12 actors")

But it touches on some things barristers & solicitors deal with outside the courtroom, at the office. Some financial dramas and such. I almost commented "What? They use a Benq monitor? Yikes--oh, they're 2,000 pounds in the red :S". Also jackass judges at networking parties. They exist. As do geeky, dorky ones who can turn their dials to "I ain't dealing with your BS" in a millisecond. I definitely met two in my work.

Also, while I don't think it carries meaning here, "silk" is the other name for QC. Or at least how I think they would discuss obtaining it with their peers in the UK. 

Kind of feels like an Ace Attorney-esque live action series. Different system, sure--the barrister, Martha Costello, just did a turnabout in favor of the defense. In very Phoenix Wright fashion. The series is generally serious though.

(She presented a video reel of some mug shots that were shown to the witness. Costello had the witness count out the time between shots and everyone learns that it was tampered so that the slide lingered on her defendant's photo for much longer than the other mug shots. She tested this on her chief and he said "I dunno why, but I feel he's guilty [because that slide lingered on his photo the longest]")
