Sillowett - Black Goddess (Prod. by SpaceGhostPurrp)
Sillowett - "Only in Miami"
Sillowett Interview
Female Rapper, Miami
ZPR: Where did your name, Sillowett, come from?
The reason why we choose Sillowett, simply, is because a silhouette is a shadow of an image, and I’d rather people listen to my lyrics than judge me by my looks without ever knowing my talent. My motto is: Listen to me first, because my appearance will still follow once you hear my flow.
ZPR: So tell the ZippedShut audience how you got your start? Who, or what, inspired you to become a female rapper?
S: As far as I can remember, I have always loved music. I can remember listening to my first rap songs by MC Lyte, and Queen Latifah and saying to myself, “One day that will be me.” One female rapper that has inspired me would be EVE. Her sound, delivery, and style are what I respect about her. In my eyes, her flow is amazing. I got my start working with my mentor, Sunshine. She’s based here in Miami, and she has really inspired me to pursue my career in music. Music is what I love!
ZPR: How would you describe Sillowett’s sound? What makes you different/unique from other female rappers in the game?
S: Sillowett’s sound can be defined as edgy swag, uplifting, with southern flavor. What makes me different from other female rappers would be my style and deliverance. Each female in the game has her own style. That’s what allows female rappers to remain in the rap industry.
ZPR: What are some of the projects you’re currently working on, and what can we expect to hear from Sillowett in the future?
S: I’m currently in the studio working on my mix tape “Now or Never” which will hit the air waves really soon. I will also be performing on the online talk show, OJ in the Morning, with Lulu Orange. Stay tuned.
ZPR: What about collaboration? Can we expect to hear Sillowett on someone’s track, or hear someone on yours?
S: On my current single, “Only in Miami,” I have collaboration with my producer, SGP, but there will be future collaboration.
ZPR: Well, I must admit, “Only in Miami,” certainly has me wanting to represent the M.I.A. Would you say it is Miami’s new theme song?
S: With all the great music that comes from Miami, it can definitely be a M.I.A anthem. 305…stand up!
ZPR: Where can we purchase your music, or where can we hear it?
S: You can hear my music on www.hoodradio.info and you can also check it out at www.youtube.com/sillowettfcpi
ZPR: I’ve seen you where you appeared in a few fashion shows. Is Sillowett also a model?
S: Yes, Sillowett started out as a model, and from time to time I will hit the runway. I still have it!
ZPR: What about love? For all those love struck fans out there, is Sillowett on the search for love, or has she already been taken off the market?
S: I’m currently single, but I do have a crush on Ace Hood J
ZPR: What advice would you offer young women - or young people in general - who want to become entertainers? And tell us a little about your journey.
S: The advice that I would offer to the young people is to set goals, and stay focused on the goals that you set. Never let anyone say you can’t do it, and remember it’s all in your heart. Believe in yourself.
My journey has been a steady process, and I know the wheels will begin turning in high speed. I’m excited about this journey, and where it will take me.
