my guess is that he's trying to conserve resources - theoretically CA and CT are more than capable, and that way they don't risk damage to Striker. they don't exactly have money to spare, so limiting risk to Striker is paramount if they're going to have it available for the Breach assault, which is on a tight schedule.
ok see it makes SENSE, but like - if cherno & typhoon are theoretically able to win just fine, then if you add striker to the mix they should theoretically be able to win even MORE fine and everyone will come out even more okay?
i guess even a solid win doesn’t mean no one gets hurt at all, but honestly, it still doesn’t seem like as much of a risk as the alternative. you can even order striker to prioritize its own safety but still let it, like, be out there shooting, yknow? going from 2v2 to 3v2 is just such a big advantage.. have the more expendable jaegers do the grappling, and striker can dart in for a punch and then fall back safely.
and yes, maybe, for example, cherno’s kaiju will break away and go after striker and cherno isn’t able to stop it and striker gets injured - but that means cherno isn’t doing as good a job as expected, and if striker weren’t there, the kaiju would’ve gone after typhoon, and it’ll definitely be able to do serious damage in that second of 1v2, and everything’ll go to shit and striker will get called in anyway and will probably get injured anyway bc now it’s not 3v2 it’s 2v2, etc etc.
so like i get the reasoning of not wanting to risk striker, it just, doesn’t actually seem like less risk, imo.

Ooh what r u learning with duolingo
french! i had fun learning it in high school even though the classes themselves were shitty, and was always kinda sad that i didn’t have the time/energy/opportunity to continue.
every now and then i consider picking it up again - this time it’s because spotify recommended me a really catchy french song, Sur La Planche by La Femme. so here i am again!
if you’re down to read really long books and are amenable to fantasy then i highly recommend you read the stormlight archive.. it’s so good....
brandon sanderson has been my favorite author for like ten years and he’s only getting better and better?? his worldbuilding and magic systems and plots are incredible and original, and his characters are so fucking good and real,
and like, bad things happen, but it’s never overly grimdark for the sake of it, his stories are always hopeful at the core,
and stormlight is just the best of the best... great neurodivergent rep from depression to autism to ptsd, cool ladies and men breaking the silly gender roles of their society, almost all the characters in this world are poc, so far there’s only a few minor gay characters but i have hope for more,
and all the characters are just, they make mistakes and go through such rough times but in the end they’re still good worthy important people, they fuck up but they’re trying so hard to do better and that’s what it takes to be a hero... (well ok there’s also bad guys, and morally grey characters, but like, the def-good guy characters are also complicated but also still good...)
and it’s just such a good entertaining enthralling emotional read! those thousand pages fly by, none of it’s boring filler (trust me he tries so hard to get these books as short as he can lmao), whenever i get to a section where it’s like “oh this character or plotline isn’t my fave” i'm still always really fucking into it by like the second paragraph because it’s all just so well done..
god i love those books
discourse self-care of the day:
it can be #valid to be upset by acceptable content
(and it can be #valid to make content that legitimately upsets people)
Sometimes there’s a kind of content, be it a discourse or fan art or joking hot take, that’s really personally upsetting to you for pretty legit reasons. But sometimes the content itself isn’t actually bad; those legit reasons of yours are actually a little farther removed.
So maybe you assume they must be jerks, to make content that, while benign on its own, is obviously super hurtful in the context of society? Or maybe you’re filled with confusion and guilt, about who is actually in the wrong here? But really, sometimes it’s ok, sometimes no one is wrong. It’s ok that the content is out there, and it’s ok that you hate it and want to avoid the people who make it.
(Disclaimer that this doesn’t apply to everything. Some upsetting things are uh definitely unacceptable, and societal context and people’s reactions both do affect where the line is.)
Here’s a few examples of the thought process, that I have been on either side of, to show the type of situation I am talking about:
