Keith had read that there were picnic tables at the Preserve, but we couldn’t see any around the Interpretive Center or anywhere else.
Keith went scouting for it, discovering the creek he had read about before finally finding the lone picnic table under in a large covered structure.
We figured they would bring in tables and chairs for gatherings and functions, but they didn’t tend to get manry regular picnickers.
As you can see, the tops of the Joshua trees and others were popular perching spots for birds. The second pic show a California thrasher we could see from our lone picnic table. The bunnies were both near the spot, too.
According to an informational sign, rabbits like these give birth underground, while jackrabbits give birth above ground. Therefore, the numerous large burrows we saw throughout the reserve could’ve been the birthplace of these desert rabbits (though these pics may be of the same bunny).
