2 questions, as long as you feel comfortable answering them: 1) How long have you been wearing corsets? 2) How did you bring it up with your parents?
Oh, hi there! Yeah, you can ask be pretty much anything. ^^
1) How long have I been wearing corsets?
Well, I started liking the aesthetics of corsets in middle school, and I had one of those cheap hot topic ones that I could only wear for halloween. I noticed that actual corsets were an option through a fashion blog (Sophistique Noir) and I talked to my mom (who was also a fan of the blog) and she said she'd get me one but it couldn't be more than 300 dollars. Then I made a TOTAL ROOKIE MISTAKE and got three corset story's instead of a decent one for my 16th birthday. I wore one a week for most of the school year, but they weren't that comfortable and when I got a tumblr I found thisisnotacorset and was like "ohhh" and promptly got a CS-411 for my 17th birthday. I'm sorry this got wordy but I've been wearing corsets for 2 years, and wearing a decent one for about one (I always think it's longer!).
2) How did I bring it up to my parents?
I'm going to rephrase this to "how did I bring this up to my mom" because I love my dad but he doesn't notice anything I wear. A short explanation is I am a barbie doll. My mom (and grandma) really like buying clothes and I like looking nice. So when I pointed out Sophistique Noir my mom was like "those are pretty" and I asked if I could have one and she was pretty much like "why not". And then when I wanted a CS-411 I explained that it was because they were better for you than Corset Story. I kind of started waist training by accident? Like, I bought one that was smaller than my waist because it was just what made sense for a pretty silhouette, and I mostly planned on tight lacing once I had it seasoned, but then ended up wearing it all summer and liked the look a lot, and when I wanted a josephine the only one with my torso length was an 18 inch, I figured "Why not?". If you have to talk to your parents I suggest being ready to link a lot of sources, I particularly suggest lucy-corsetry because she covers health benefits and things, but my personal "can I do this" experience is really boring and not at all problematic (Though my dad thinks my ribbon cincher makes me look like an alien).
I'm sorry this got really wordy and I hope it helped.
