"Mr. Jones... I want to talk to you about Malachi."
"Of course, Benjamin. What is it?"
"I'm worried about him. You've seen how he is... he's quiet, and he always has his head in some book. I don't want a son like that. I want him to be a real man, like Isaiah."
"I understand that. The Watcher calls every man to be a provider, and to be the leader of his family, and of course you want to see Malachi grow into a man who can fulfill that purpose."
"Of course I do. But how can he be a leader if he's soft?"
"You've got to remember, Benjamin, that the Watcher has blessed every man differently, so we can all serve Him in our own ways. And Malachi may be quiet, but he's a very smart kid - his knowledge of the Holy Book is incredible for his age. He can definitely use that to serve the Watcher."
"...I know, Mr. Jones. I still don't like it."
"Well... as Malachi's father, you of course have the authority to discipline him. You can correct his behavior however you see fit. Just don't be too hard on him - he's a good kid."
"...yes, Mr. Jones."
