TW: Blood, Emergency Room Visit

News Anchor (V.O.): Breaking News out of Northern Brindlen Lakes, where we have just received word that Prime Minister Lars Anderssen has been shot. An unknown gunman allegedly broke into his home, shot Mr. Anderssen and abducted his daughter, Astrid.  

News Anchor (V.O.): Right now, we have no word on the Prime Minister’s condition, the whereabouts of his daughter, Astrid Anderssen, or the identity of the gunman. We’ll keep you updated on this developing story.

Dr. Lyncoln: Mrs. Anderssen, we’re gonna have to have you wait out here, while we get him in for Emergency Surgery. Ingeborg: Fine.

*A nurse is typing in PM Anderssen’s vitals as the doctors discuss his condition*

Katrina: Why did this happen, Min Kärlek? I can’t fathom what Ingeborg is going through. Eric: I don’t know, Min Älsking. But what I do know is that I’m gonna find who’s responsible for this. *Eric and Katrina enter the room* Ingeborg: Your Majesties? I didn’t expect you here.

Katrina: We heard everything from Stack. He’s in bad shape, isn’t he, Ingeborg?

Ingeborg: The doctor said he’s in stable condition, but they’re still gonna keep him in a medically-induced coma until any swelling he has in his head is gone. How could this have happened, Your Majesty? What sick demented monster would do such a thing?

Eric: That’s what we want to know, too. Have the police spoken to you, yet? Ingeborg: Yes, they have. They collected evidence of the crime scene, actually. They found tire tracks belonging to a pickup truck in our backyard, but that’s all they could find. I just hope Lars can wake up soon, and coherent enough to tell us who did this. Who shot him and took my daughter. Astrid should be at home, spending time with us and her siblings.

Katrina: I feel your pain, Ingeborg. We should be celebrating Susanna’s 26th birthday, tonight. And yet, no word on her whereabouts still. Wherever they are, I hope they’re safe.

Eric: You have my word, Anderssen. I’m gonna find the sonofabitch who did this to you and Astrid.

Warning: Discussions of bullying

Katrina: Min Kärlek, when the prime minister arrives, how should we go about discussing the current strife within the national congress?

Eric: Not to worry, Min Älskling. Mr. Anderssen and I have been working together to find a solution to their differences on what to do about the protests in Cirrus City. Let’s just hope it will be enough.

Footman: Your Majesties, The Prime Minister of Newcrest.

Eric: Thank you.

Eric: Mr. Anderssen, welcome back.

Lars Anderssen: Thank you, Your Majesties.

Katrina: Mr. Anderssen, pleased to see you again.

Eric: Please have a seat.

Eric: Now, the deputy prime minister has made me aware of some protests happening in Cirrus City. Might you have some idea of how it started?

PM Anderssen: Students from Foxbury University have been holding walkouts and protests over the administration’s inaction dealing with the students who caused the hazing death of a student with cerebral palsy. 

Katrina: What? That’s horrible. For how long had this student been bullied before the tragedy?

PM Anderssen: According to several representatives from the University, it had lasted since the beginning of the academic year.

Eric: And the administration wouldn’t do anything about it?

PM Anderssen: They classified the incidents as isolated. Upon further investigation, the Imperial Prosecution Service found that this was a reoccurring incident, and the night of December 11th, the students responsible assaulted the victim and shoved a bottle full of Xanax down her throat. Poor dear died in the hospital three days later.

Eric: There needs to be stricter laws against bullying. Susanna always came home from school crying, because classmates would treat her horribly and would always tell her to kill herself. The administration would let her bullies continue to attend their classes. That student must have gone through similar incidents. 

PM Andersen: Indeed, Your Majesty. Her parents have decided to sue the university for their daughter’s wrongful death.

Katrina: Something has to be done about it, Mr. Prime Minister. Why are the Congress divided on this issue?

PM Anderssen: The White Party believe that the incidents should remain classified as isolated, while the Blue Party believe that action should be taken to hold these students responsible for their classmates’ death.

Katrina: They’re divided on how to deal with an incident that is essentially a crime?

PM Anderssen: Yes. They’ve called upon His Majesty to decide what course of action to take.

Eric: Well, I think my wife and I agree that these students and the administration need to be held responsible for this student’s death. Why don’t I announce our decision when the Congressional Sessions open back up?

PM Anderssen: I think it’s a good idea, Your Majesty. Plus, you and Her Majesty should make an appearance at the university and address the students to try and calm the protests a bit. 

Katrina: I think it’s a safe bet we do it, Eric.

Eric: Then that is next on our to-do list. What’s next on the agenda, Mr. Anderssen?

PM Anderssen: Your upcoming state visit to the United Provinces in June. President Warner and First Gentleman Clarence Warner are elated that you’ll be visiting the Blue Mansion in Norvan, D.E., and touring the Fort Lorna base in New Nagara, Camp Hauoli in the Makali province, and the International Museum of History in Del Sol Valley.

Katrina: That should be exciting. We’ve charmed foreign audiences, it seems, and I’m positive the Nyfriedicans will find Eric’s dad jokes humorous.

*The three erupt in sudden laughter*

Eric: Dad jokes for every occasion, Katrina. What’d I tell you?

PM Anderssen: I believe it, Your Majesty. Every event you and the Empress host, you have room for dad jokes in your speeches.

Eric: Well, Mr. Anderssen, rest assured, we will continue to maintain the safety and stability of our fellow Newcrestis and see to it that proper assistance be given to the family of the student...

Eric (cont’d): ...and further continue to help out when required. Thank you for coming.

PM Anderssen: Thank you for having me, Your Majesties.

*Prime Minister Anderssen is planning another monthly meeting at the palace with one of the Emperor’s spokespeople through video chat*

PM Anderssen: Yes. We’ll discuss the trip and perhaps any leads to Princess Susanna possibly residing in the provinces. I understand the visit is going well so far? Spokesperson: Yes, sir. His Majesty gave a speech at Camp Hauoli and he and the Empress will be heading to Norvan, D.E. tomorrow to finish off the visit. PM Anderssen: Very good. Ingeborg and I will greet him at the airport on Friday then, and then we’ll head back to the...

*A loud scream is heard throughout the house*

Spokesperson: Mr. Prime Minister, is everything okay? PM Anderssen: I’ll get back to you later. *Hangs up call* PM Anderssen: Astrid? Everything okay?! *No response* PM Anderssen: Triddy? Honey, what’s going on?!

*PM Anderssen walks downstairs to find that Astrid, his 18-year-old daughter, is being held hostage by an intruder*

???: Hands up, Anderssen... or your daughter gets it! PM Anderssen: Kelley! Please, put the gun down, and let my daughter go.

Agent Jacob Kelley: Ay, fuck you! You and the Imperial Family put a lot of pressure on me to reveal Giacono’s deception! You’re the cause of it, so, you’re going to die! Astrid: Please, don’t shoot my dad! He didn’t do anything to you! Agent Kelley: Shut up! Here’s what’s gonna happen, Anderssen. I’m taking your daughter... and you’ll never hear from her again.

PM Anderssen: Look, Agent Kelley. Just put the gun down, let go of my daughter, and we can discuss this. Please.

Agent Kelley: There’s nothing more to talk about. You asked too many questions, Anderssen. Now, it’s time to repay your meddling with bullets. Astrid: Daddy, run!

Agent Kelley: Hejdå, Anderssen! Astrid: DAD!! *BANG* ________________________________________________________________

Fifteen Minutes Later

*PM Anderssen’s wife, Ingeborg, and their three other children, have just come home from the amusement park, but little do they know of the nightmare they are about to walk into*

Ingeborg: Did you guys have fun, today? Desiree: Carousel fun! Ingeborg: Yes, it was fun. Hubertus: Thanks for taking us, Mom. Ingeborg: Thank your father. He’s the one who bought the tickets. *The family walks in to find a horrifying scene, Lars on the ground, having been shot*

Ingeborg: *gasps* LARS!! Hubertus: Mom, what happened to Dad?! Ingeborg: *voice trembling* Hubie, why don’t you take your sisters and go upstairs, okay? Hubertus: O-okay, Mom. Come on. Ingeborg: Oh my watcher. Lars, hang on, I’m gonna call for an ambulance.

*Ingeborg pulls her phone out and dials the emergency number* Dispatcher: Newcrest Emergency Services, may I get your address, please? Ingeborg: Hello? We need an ambulance to 1456 Garland Drive. Dispatcher: What is the nature of your emergency, Ma’am? Ingeborg: My husband’s been shot! Please for the love of the Watcher, we need an ambulance now, he’s bleeding out fast! Dispatcher: Okay...okay! What’s your husband’s name, ma’am? Ingeborg: Lars Anderssen... he’s the Prime Minister, for Watcher’s sake! Dispatcher: Okay, Mrs. Anderssen. Stay on the line with me until the ambulance arrives at your house. One is on their way now. Ingeborg: Okay... okay.
