I’ve watched this hug so many times, but last night I noticed something about the way Simon moves his head. There’s a slight pause before he turns his head away, like his face connects with Markus’s shoulder, and then I realized…

It does.

There’s just enough of a hesitation, a quick, almost fleeting moment, but Simon kisses Markus’s shoulder. Why his shoulder? Why not something else? A cheek, maybe? I dont think he thinks about it. He is just happy to be in Markus’s arms, happy to be home.

And from the way Markus runs his hands along his upper back ever so slowly, he’s happy, too.
