Summary: As Emily pregnancy progresses, she and Simon have a talk about their future.
Warnings: Fluff
Notes: This chapter is a bit on the shorter side. I moved recently and am still sorta settling in so things have been a little crazy. Hopefully I’ll get back to writing these a little more frequently.
Emily put a hand on her back and sighed as she stretched a bit. She was at the kitchen window waiting for the order for her last table of the evening. Being 6 months pregnant and on her feet for 10-12 hours 4 or 5 days a week was starting to take a toll on her body. But she wasn’t going to quit and just sit around the house all day. Shortly after discovering she as pregnant she and Simon decided to start living together. Even though she loved her house and it broke her heart to let it go, it just wasn’t big enough for the two of them plus a baby and Amara so Emily moved into Simon’s house. As the cook set the plates down at the window, Emily grabbed a tray and placed the plates on it before bending slightly and lifting the tray onto her shoulder and walked over to the table of guests. She set part of the tray down on the table and placed each plate in front of each guest and smiled. “Can I get you guys anything else?” A woman who Emily assumed was the mother of the two children at the table smiled and shook her head. “No thank you, dear.”
Emily walked over to one of the POS stations and set the tray down before printing the check for her last table and slipping it into the pocket of her apron. She walked over to the bar and asked the bartender for a glass of ice water. Just then Simon came out from his office and smiled as he walked over to Emily and leaned down to kiss her cheek. “How are you feeling?” Emily smiled. “I’m ok. Tired. Just waiting for this last table to finish up before I’m done.” Simon nodded. “Why don’t you sit down?” I could have someone else finish up for you if you can’t manage.” Emily shook her head. “No, no I’m good. I’m fine, I promise.” Emily smiled up at Simon. “I know you are, baby doll.” Simon replied before pressing a kiss to Emily’s forehead. “I have a little bit of paperwork to finish up but I should done by the time you’re ready to go, ok?” Emily nodded. “Sounds good.”
After sipping on her water for a bit Emily slid off her stool and walked over to the table. “Is everything ok here?” The family nodded and smiled. Emily took the check from her pocket and placed it face down on the table. “You can pay this up at the front when you’re ready. Let me know if you need anything else.” She said before heading back over to the bar. About 10 minutes later the family slid out of the table and headed to the front to pay their bill. Once they left Emily walked over to the table and collected the tip that had been left and stuffed it into her pocket. Once she was done settling her checks she walked back to Simon’s office and stepped inside. Simon looked up from the paperwork he was doing and smiled. “All done?” Emily nodded and yawned. “Yes, sir.” Simon stood and walked over to Emily, placing a hand on the small of her back. “You know it drives me crazy when you call me sir.” Emily grinned and wrapped her arms around Simon’s neck. “Why do you think I do it?” He laughed softly as he leaned down and kissed her softly. Emily sighed against Simon’s lips. “Mm, ready to go?” Simon nodded and grabbed his and Emily’s hoodies from the coat rack.
The pair held hands as they exited the bar and walked to Simon’s car. Emily climbed into the passenger side while Simon got in the driver’s side. He pulled out of the parking spot and held Emily’s hand as he drove back to their house. It was still a little strange calling it ‘their house.’ Simon had been surprised when Emily said she would move in. He knew how much she loved her house and thought for sure it would cause a bit of a fight when he suggested that she move into his place. But she continued to surprise him almost daily. Simon pulled into the driveway next to Emily’s car. He climbed out of the car before hurrying around to Emily’s side to help her out. Most times she was fine but every now and then, especially after a long shift, she need a little helping hand. Simon watched as Emily made her way up the front steps. He felt bad. She was fairly petite so even though she was only 6 months along, her belly was huge. He knew that it was getting harder for her by the day to do normal things. Not just physically but emotionally too. Her hormones were raging so she sometimes would start crying for no reason and then fly into a rage almost as if someone flipped a switch. Simon knew that Emily wasn’t crazy about the idea of not working. She’d balked at the idea when he’d suggested it a few weeks ago. But he was growing more and more concerned for her.
Once they were inside Emily kicked her shoes off and sat on the couch, sighing as she wiggled her toes. Her feet and ankles were so swollen that it was almost painful. Simon sat next to her and she draped her legs across his lap. She put a couple of throw pillows behind her and leaned back against the arm of the couch. “Could you rub my feet for me, baby? They’re so swollen and gross.” Simon laughed softly as he took her left foot in his hands and started gently massaging it. “They’re not gross at all.” Emily smiled a bit and closed her eyes, sighing contently as Simon massaged her foot. “Mm, that feels amazing.” Simon smiled softly as Emily closed her eyes and tilted her head back. After a few moments of silence, Simon began to speak. “Hey, babe. I think we should talk.” Emily opened one eye and quirked an eyebrow. “That doesn’t sound good.” She replied before reluctantly sitting up a bit.
“Listen,” Simon continued. “I know that you’re not too keen on the idea of not contributing, but I think it’s time that you seriously consider cutting back at work. We could probably move you to the hostess station. At least that way you’d be able to sit down.” Emily sighed. “Simon I know that you’re concerned about me but I assure you I’m fine.” “No, Em, you’re not. I can see this toll this is starting to take on you. Every morning it’s taking you longer and longer to get out of bed because of how sore you are. There’s no shame in admitting that and starting to take it easy.” Emily sat up and folded her legs underneath her, resting a hand on her belly and running another through her hair. “I know, Si. I just…” Simon reached over and put a hand on her knee. “I know, babe. I do.” He leaned over and kissed her cheek. “Listen, I know you have the next few days off. Take that time to think, ok? You don’t have to decide right now.” Emily nodded. “Ok, I’ll think about it.” “Good.”
Emily looked over at Simon. “Why do I have the feeling that’s not all you wanted to talk about?” Simon laughed softly. “You see right through me, don’t you?” He adjusted himself so he was facing Emily. “I’ve just been thinking about stuff. Ya know, us…our future.” “What about it?” Emily asked. Simon took a deep breath. “Well, I mean, obviously we’re in this for the long haul.” He said motioning to Emily’s belly. “I just wonder how long of a haul…” Emily tilted her head a bit. “Are you talking about like…us getting married?” She asked softly. Simon shrugged. “I didn’t say that exactly.” “But you implied it.” “I guess so.” Emily licked her lips. “Simon, you know I love you more than words could ever describe. And to be honest if I weren’t pregnant I’d probably be all over this conversation. But right now I’m just trying to focus on staying healthy so I can have this baby. Plus, I’m not walking down any aisles looking like this.” Simon nodded. “So…you’re not saying no. You’re just saying not now?”
Emily smirked and moved so she was closer to Simon. “Simon, my darling, I am in a pretty good mood right now but I’m very hormonal so I wouldn’t press your luck.” Simon laughed before leaning in and kissing Emily softly. “I love you.” “Love you too.” After relaxing on the couch for a while Emily yawned and decided to go upstairs. Simon was going to the kitchen to grab some water for her and would be up in a moment. As Emily changed into her PJs and climbed into bed she began to think about what Simon had said about taking it easy at work. He was right that she was pretty sore all time but especially after working. Simon entered the room and put a cold bottle of water on Emily’s nightstand before placing another bottle down on his. He stripped down to his boxer briefs and slid under the covers with Emily. She cuddled closer to him as he placed a hand on her belly. She placed her hand over his before smiling up at him. Simon leaned in a kissed Emily softly. “Goodnight, my love.” “Goodnight, dear.” She replied with a soft laugh.
Emily was asleep in no time. She usually was nowadays. She got tired much more easily now. Simon rolled onto his back and just stared up at the ceiling. This is what had been happening over the last few weeks. Emily would crash and he would lay awake for hours just thinking. He gently sat up and looked over his should to make sure Emily was still asleep. He slowly opened the drawer on his nightstand and reached in towards the back until he felt the small velvet box he’d stashed there. He pulled the box out and slowly opened the top, staring down at the rings inside. He and Emily had stopped outside a jewelry store once and looked at the rings in the window. That’s when Emily declared that if Simon ever proposed she wanted something simple and unique. She didn’t want some huge diamond or something that was mass produced. Simon searched for months and went to a dozen different jewelers until he found something he knew Emily would love. The engagement ring was a rose gold band with a pear shaped moonstone which was surrounded by small diamonds but it still wasn’t too flashy. The wedding band was also rose gold and it was pointed to accommodate the pear shape of the engagement ring. It had a small diamond at the top of the point and on each side of the band were 3 rose gold leaves with even smaller diamonds in the middle of each leaf. He figured she’d probably want to wear just the wedding band so he wanted it to have a little bit of a design to it instead of just being plain. He didn’t buy himself a wedding band. He knew Emily would want to pick that out herself.
He ran his thumb over the rings and sighed softly. He wanted to give them to her so bad. But she deserved to be swept off her feet. And she was right. This wasn’t the right time to worry about a wedding. Once the baby was born and Emily had time to recover he would propose. “I’ll know when the time is right.” He thought to himself. He heard Emily groan softly so he quickly closed the box and shoved back into his nightstand drawer. He looked over at Emily as she stretched a bit. “You ok?” She asked sleepily. Simon smiled and nodded. “Yeah, of course. Just thirsty is all.” He said as he reached for his water and took a sip. Simon laid back down and wrapped his arms around Emily’s waist. She rested her head on his shoulder, pushing her face into the crook of his neck as she quickly fell back to sleep. Simon smiled to himself as he ran a hand gently up and down Emily’s back causing her to sigh contently. Simon looked down at her and felt his heart swell. He couldn’t wait to hold his baby and he certainly couldn’t wait to call Emily his wife.
We ate Jude’s very excellent spaghetti. Mostly, Simon and I sat close together and watched the others interacting. Jude and Clare spent the meal encouraging and muting conversation by turns, depending on the topic and the mood of the table. Carl was more likely to blunder into something than to bridge a gap and it was fun to watch the younger generation teasing each other and relaxing in spite of their elders.
More than once, I caught Negan watching us. His dark eyes were sad when he did but brightened when he smiled. And he did smile at us. A lot.
As the evening quieted and Clare escorted her sisters out with a quick kiss for Jude, we settled around Negan’s cozy living room. I sat with my arms wrapped around Simon’s waist and my head in his lap while he ran his fingers through my hair. Carl sat in one armchair while Negan sank into another. Jude sat on the floor with her back against her brother’s leg. “The world’s changed,” Simon said into the quiet.
“The only certain things are death and change,” Jude answered.
“Wasn’t the original death and taxes?” Carl asked.
“We went a long fucking time without taxes,” Negan smiled.
Carl chuckled and nodded. “True.”
“What do you see that’s changed the most?” Jude asked softly.
Simon sighed and traced his fingers along my jaw. “People watch each other differently now. Especially the older ones, folks our age. But even you kids do, too. For us, it’s that we spent so long watching each other for signs of weakness, illness, infection. We were constantly on guard for something to fall apart, no matter if it was someone with the flu who carried it to a room full of kids or someone who just snapped and started shooting or one of those religious fanatics who said that the dead were our natural state and we should embrace turning.” He ran his fingers through my hair again, his thumb brushing my cheek. “We watched each other because betrayal could come from anywhere, anyone. Intentionally or unintentionally, we could be dead at the hands of someone else in the blink of an eye.
“You kids… you watch each other because watching is what you do. You grew up watching us watch each other and that became your normal. Now, even in a city this size, everyone watches each other but I’m not sure if they even know why anymore.” Simon paused and turned to smile slightly at Carl. “What do you think?”
Carl shrugged slowly. “Some people still know why. Some people still watch each other for signs of infection, sickness, mental illness. I know I do and when I see it, it scares the shit out of me way faster than it does anyone else around me.”
“Do you think we’re getting complacent?” Jude asked him with her head tipped back on his knee.
“Maybe a little.” He shifted and slouched in the armchair until Jude moved over and let his knees rest against either side of her shoulders. “I think that maybe it’s a good thing we never found a cure.”
I sat up in surprise. “Seriously?” I asked him. “You think it’s a good thing?”
Carl shrugged a little. “If we’re going to be honest, yeah. I do. I mean, think about it. Generations before us wiped out some forms of disease, got comfortable with the idea that there were some things they could cure, could destroy entirely. And then they got complacent. People started believing that those diseases couldn’t have been nearly as bad as history showed them and you ended up with anti-vaxxers, resurgences of stupid shit like polio and mumps and measles. Stuff we’d beaten as a species.” He fell silent for a moment and folded his hands together, studying his fingertips. “The closest they got to finding a cure was discovering that it was a modified form of flu. Seriously. Millions upon millions of people wiped out because we didn’t get a fucking flu shot in time. The reanimation aspects seem to have been hybridized in from rabies. It was engineered. But it spread when we came down with the flu, then spread it to others and recovered. Something we had vaccines for but half the population didn’t bother with for any number of reasons. Something so fucking simple.”
“So what didn’t kill us immediately killed us later on,” Simon murmured with a morbid chuckle. “That’s how everyone got infected in the first place.” Carl just nodded.
“Some have even speculated that it was in the flu shots to begin with.” He shrugged. “That’s usually dismissed as a conspiracy theory, but when something this massive was engineered to kill massive numbers of people, it’s hard to dismiss conspiracies.”
“Doesn’t really fucking matter anymore anyway,” Negan put in. “It ended our fucking world and started yours.”
“It’s your world, too,” insisted Jude, but Negan, Simon and I exchanged tired smiles.
“It’s really not, babydoll,” Negan murmured. “We’re here if you need us, but it’s your fucking world. We’ve already shown the world what we could fucking do with it. Now it’s your turn.”
“And you’re doing a damn fine better job than we ever did,” Simon added with a grin.
Jude shook her head angrily and Carl put a hand on her shoulder to calm her. “It’s not true, though,” she protested. “People like our dad shaped what the world looks like. You did, too, Negan. The world you guys built is the foundation we’re working with now. It’s still your world.”
Negan, Simon, and I sat considering her words, watching her face and the look on her brother’s face. “This world,” Simon started in a low voice, “doesn’t have room in it anymore for the kind of violence that brought us together. And that’s good. That kind of violence had a purpose: it kept us alive. Now, the world keeps itself alive. You work toward a common goal, build up and out rather than pulling down and in. We’re still… pulling down and in. We don’t belong anymore.”
“You don’t have to,” Jude whispered and I realized there were tears in her eyes. I closed my eyes and turned away from her, letting my lips rest on Simon’s shoulder. “We can still learn so much from you. You could belong.”
“I don’t want to belong.” Simon’s arms wrapped around me sharply and I leaned against him. “I like the quiet. I like never seeing another human except for my wife. The second I left the Sanctuary, I knew I never wanted to belong anywhere again. Only out there, with her.” His lips brushed my forehead and I smiled up at him. “I like going for days on end without speaking because we don’t have to. I like hunting for our food, working in the garden, picking apples and peaches from our trees.” He rocked slowly and buried his face in my shoulder. “I don’t want to belong to this world. I…” his voice cracked a little and he barely whispered in my ear, “I belong in yours.”
“I know,” I whispered back and he hugged me harder.
“I want to go home.”
“I know.”
We were all quiet for a long time while Simon struggled for control again. I could feel how tired he was, how stretched to his breaking point this whole day had left him. He kept his face pressed into my shoulder and took shaking breaths that eventually evened out until he was breathing more normally. I ran my hand down the back of his neck and felt him sigh. “Sorry,” he whispered.
“It’s okay,” I murmured back.
“Do you want to go back to the hotel?” Carl asked in a gentle voice.
“I want to go home,” Simon repeated. I nosed his face and he sighed, then kissed me slowly. “I’m sorry,” he said and sat up. “It’s been a long-ass day.”
“If we start now,” Carl said softly, “I can have you home around eleven, eleven-thirty.”
“That’s not necessary, Carl,” I smiled. “But thank you. We’ll be okay waiting until tomorrow.”
“Stay.” Negan’s voice was rough and low and Simon and I both looked up to see him staring at his palms. “Please.”
“I can stay overnight,” Jude said as she stood up and crossed to kiss his forehead.
Negan looked up at her and smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes when he looked back at us. I could see how he much he wanted us to stay the night. I could feel how badly Simon didn’t want to. I reached and laced my fingers through Simon’s and pulled his hand to my lips to kiss his fingers. “Just one night,” I whispered to him, “and then we go home. It’ll be quieter here than the hotel.”
“Ella, I can’t,” Simon rasped. “I just can’t.”
I sighed and cupped my hands to his face, drew him closer and kissed him. “Simon, look at me.” Reluctantly, his dark eyes came up to meet mine. “One night,” I whispered. “This could be the last night.” His eyes widened and flicked to the side before returning to watch me. I smiled gently. “There’s no telling.”
Slowly, he leaned against my forehead and let out a long breath. “Okay. One night.”
***
We curled together in the spare bedroom, spooned up the way we had every night for fifteen years. Simon’s arms wrapped around me, his face pressed down into my hair, his breath stirred against the nape of my neck. Even now, his arms were strong, his body fit and ready to fight a threat. He was still unbent, alert, aware. Well, not necessarily aware now, since I could feel his deep, even breathing.
I wanted to believe that we could keep going forever. I wanted to believe there would never be a day when we needed the kind of care Negan had found in the children of his oldest…
...enemy? That didn’t feel right. I wondered if Negan had ever told Rick how he felt before Rick turned. I sighed and closed my eyes. Probably not. Negan had never been good at admitting his feelings when they ran deeper than ‘I’d fuck ‘em.’ He had certainly never admitted them to me.
I traced my fingers over the back of Simon’s hand and smiled to myself before my worries crept back in. Someday, it would be Simon leaning on the doorframe to recover his balance. Someday, I would be the one complaining about the lack of sugar in the cookies. Or even worse, it would be one of us looking into the other’s face and not knowing them. I closed my eyes tightly and clenched my jaw, willing the thought away.
“Babe?” Simon’s hand ran up over my side and down to my waist again. “You okay?”
“I can’t see,” I whispered.
Silence filled the room and I wondered briefly if he was even awake. Without another word, Simon rolled over and turned on the bedside light. “Better?”
I sighed and rolled onto my back to study his face. “I’m serious, Simon,” I said.
He shifted to slide back down beside me and cradled my face with his palm. “So’m I. What’s wrong?”
“I missed a deer,” I whispered with my eyes closed. “Before we left. At the bait pile.”
“Like you’ve always hit every deer you shot at.”
“I didn’t miss like that.” I opened my eyes and leaned my cheek against his hand. “I didn’t even see it, Simon. Never knew it was there until something startled it and it ran off. Scared the shit out of me.”
Simon stared at me, his eyes carefully taking in every inch of my face before he examined my eyes. I could tell that’s what he was doing because it was like having him look past me without seeing me. Very slowly, he tilted my head so the bedside light shone on my eyes differently. “They’re cloudy,” he whispered and the fear and grief in his voice broke my heart. “Not a lot, but I can see it.”
“Cataracts were a foregone conclusion, considering my family history,” I murmured.
“They can be fixed.”
“With what money, baby?” I leaned and kissed him gently. “I really don’t think the hospital system is likely to take payment in carved knives and knitted socks.”
Simon closed his eyes and clung to me. “I can’t lose you,” he whispered.
“I’m not dying,” I chuckled. “I’m just going blind.”
I heard his teeth grinding together briefly and he growled, “Don’t laugh at me, Ella. I’m serious. I can’t lose you. I won’t. We’ve come through too much and I…” He exhaled sharply like someone had kicked him in the ribs. “We’ll talk to Carl on the way home,” he whispered. “We’ll find out what it’ll take to have them fixed. If we have to move back to the city, start working, I swear I’ll find some way to fix this.”
I stroked my thumb over his cheek and sighed. “Simon, don’t be silly. We aren’t moving back to the city. At the very least, I’m not.”
“There’s gonna be a point when we can’t stay out there anymore,” Simon whispered. “We can’t… really get old out there, Ella.”
“I know.”
“What are we going to do?”
I smiled. “Not get old.”
Simon closed his eyes and sighed. “I love you.”
“I love you, too,” I whispered and kissed him until I could taste our tears.
When the man emerges into the clearing I could almost laugh...he’s a boy, not a beast. Angular face to match the body that thins out away from the shadows. He hands a gun over to Bear to be examined. Bear hands it to me and I promptly aim it at him.
“Weasel,” Bear points to the other man, then himself. “Bear.” He looks past the barrel to me with a questioning expression.
I pull the trigger and there’s a hollow click. Of course there’s just a click, how stupid to think it was still loaded. Weasel gives an awkward smile, Bear merely sighs and takes the gun back.
“Name.” He orders.
“Negan,” I reply stubbornly.
Both men snicker, the leader questions. “Negan?”
“Bear?” I sneer back. A terrible, deep, growl rumbles out of him and I take half-a-step back, but refuse to give in. “I am Negan.”
“Leaf,” he points at me, shows faint amusement when my face screws up in utter confusion. “No roots, moves with wind.”
I just sigh. “Fuck you.”
“Mind fuck,” he states in clear reference to earlier in our conversation, then points to a carving in the handle of the gun. It’s of Negan’s bat…it’s the gun he’d taken back from Alexandria, the one he still had when he abandoned me.
“…Did you kill him?”
He look to Weasel, who shakes his head, then shakes his as well before again pointing to the carving.
“What? You wanna know about Lucille?”
“Lucille?”
“Yes, Lucille! He picked a fucking piece of shit bat wrapped in fucking bared wire named fucking Lucille over me! Happy?!”
Bear slipped the gun in his own pants. “Mistake.”
“What is?” I’m ignored as he signals to Weasel so crudely even I can follow without trouble. “I don’t need babysitting.”
Bear simply nods before leaving me with Weasel, who sweeps a hand towards the innards of the cave. My eyes flick to watch Bear practically become his namesake as he slips back into the woods before pulling Fox’s gifted hide tighter to my chest and cautiously stepping deeper into the cave with breath held. I make glances back at Weasel, around at others settling in the cave, fearing the unknown above any possible attack.
Yes, it’s been forever since I’ve updated this (or anything else), but better late than never, right?? So this takes place directly after the last piece and introduces another member of Bear’s tribe, Weasel. You’ll learn more about him as we go, but his faceclaim is Bill Skarsgård. And, yes, Bear totally just named “Lorien” leaf and for many reasons beyond the one he states to her...just like there are many reasons he asked her about the Lucille carving on the gun, haha! 😉
…If anyone else wants on the tag list just lemme know. I’ll also tag this for Negan’s Thirst Squad (because Negan’s a big part of this overall). 😄

Song for this Chapter: “Better Together” by Jack Johnson (Playlist Here)
Several months had passed since Violet and Simon had starting unofficially seeing each other again. It was hard keeping it from her family but she knew that even after all this time they were none too pleased with Simon and would be upset with Violet for going back to him. But she knew Simon better than they ever would. She knew that he truly cared for her and Dodger and that he was sorry for the hurt that he’d caused. But Violet was pretty sure that her family knew that something was up. She was having her family watch Dodger a couple of nights a week when she hardly ever did that before. Most times someone would come to her house to watch Dodger while she and Simon would get dinner and go back to his hotel. But tonight they were shaking things up a bit. She dropped Dodger off at her parents house and Simon was coming over. Violet was cooking for him, something she hadn’t done in a while, and then they were just going to hang out. Violet’s parents weren’t keeping Dodger for the night. They were going to take him to dinner and a movie so she and Simon would have a few hours at least. As soon as she got back from dropping Dodger off she began making dinner.
Just as she was finishing up Simon let himself in the front door. “Vi?” He called out. “In the kitchen!” Simon walked into the kitchen and smiled, walking up behind Violet and kissing her cheek. “Mm, it smells amazing in here.” Violet smiled and turned her head to kiss Simon softly. “Thank you. Can you get some dishes and utensils? Everything is just about done.” Simon grabbed plates and placed them on the counter. Violet grabbed one and placed a steak, some homemade mashed potatoes, and a bit of steamed veggies on the plate before handing it to Simon. She did the same on the other plate while Simon grabbed drinks for them. They sat at the dining table and began eating while telling each other about their day. Simon had spent most of the day on the phone in meetings. Running a business from across the country had been a challenge but he was managing. There had been quite a few times that he had to fly back to New York for a few days but as soon as he was done he flew right back to San Diego. Violet told Simon about a story she was researching for the paper. She couldn’t go into too much detail because it was confidential
“Do you ever get scared working on stories like that? Like, has anyone ever threatened you or anything like that?” Simon asked. Violet shrugged. “Well, I’ve never personally been threatened but the paper in general has after a story I worked on was published. I wouldn’t say that I get scared but I do try to be more cautious just to be on the safe side.” Simon smiled softly as he continued eating. “Ya know, thinking about you going undercover and being all secretive is kinda hot.” Violet laughed softly. “You are too much.” As they finished eating Simon gathered the dishes and rinsed everything off before placing them in the dishwasher. “Would you like a glass of wine?” Violet asked. Simon nodded and smiled. “That sounds lovely.” Violet grabbed two wine glasses and poured each of them a glass before taking the glasses to the living room and turning on the TV. Once Simon was done with the dishes he followed Violet to the living room and sat on the couch next to her. He grabbed a glass and took a sip of wine before stretching his arms out, placing his right arm around Violet’s shoulders. She smiled and leaned her head on his shoulder.
This felt so domestic. It almost felt more intimate than before. Before their relationship was forbidden in so many ways and they constantly had to hide. Now, while they were sort of keeping things a secret for right now, it was ok for them to be together. If someone saw them in public holding hands or kissing they didn’t have to worry about it winding up in some tabloid. It was nice. After they sat there for a few moments, Violet looked up at Simon. “Can I ask you something?” “Anything.” He responded. “How is this gonna work?” Simon furrowed his eyebrows. “What do you mean?” Violet sat up a bit. “I mean…with your company being in New York and my work and Dodger’s life being here…how do we make this work?” Simon sighed softly. “Well I wasn’t gonna tell you this until I knew for sure but I’ve been doing some research. A lot of my clients are based in LA, which is only a couple of hours from here. I was thinking that I could move here full time. Even if things don’t work out between us, which of course I hope they do, this way I can be here for Dodger.” Violet’s eyes widened a bit. “Simon, that’s a really big decision.” He nodded. “I know. And I haven’t made a final decision yet. But it is something I’m looking into.” Violet nodded. “Ok. Well, thank you for being honest with me.” Simon smiled. “Of course. Besides, you and Dodger are more important to me than any client. I’d give up my company tomorrow if it meant making you two happy.”
Violet smiled and leaned in to kiss Simon when she heard the front door open followed by footsteps and the sound of her mother’s voice. “Violet! We’re back!” Violet stood and walked to the entrance of the living room. Dodger ran to her and gave her a hug. She smiled and hugged him back. “Hey, munchkin. Did you have fun?” He grinned and nodded. “Yeah! Mom mom let me eat lots of popcorn at the movies!” Violet laughed softly. Dodger walked further into the living room and gasped when he saw Simon on the couch. “Daddy!” He shouted before running to Simon to give him a hug. Simon grinned and pulled Dodger into his lap. “Hey, sport.” Violet’s mom stopped walking and quirked an eyebrow. “Simon is here?” She asked softly. Violet nodded. “Simon? My mom is here.” Simon stood, holding Dodger on his hip as he walked to the living room entrance. “Mom, this is Simon. Simon, this is my mom, Stella.” Simon smiled and held out his hand. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” Violet’s mom smiled and shook his hand. “Likewise. Violet, can I talk to you in private?” Violet rolled her eyes as she followed her mom into the kitchen. “What is he doing here?” Violet’s mom asked. “He wanted to see Dodger. He is his father after all.” “Yes, I’m aware of that, Violet. I just don’t want you making the same mistakes you made last time.” Violet sighed softly. “I know. I can promise you that I won’t. Dodger’s happiness and his feelings are the most important things here. I would never do anything to jeopardize that.” Violet’s mom nodded. “I just hope you know what you’re doing.” “Don’t worry about me, mom. I’ll be fine.”
Violet gave her mom a hug before she left. She went back to the living room where Dodger was sitting in Simon’s lap with his head on his shoulder. He yawned and looked up at his mom. “I’m sleepy.” He said softly. Violet laughed softly. “I can see that. Why don’t you head upstairs and get ready for bed and I’ll be up in a couple of minutes to tuck you in, ok?” Dodger nodded. “Could you and daddy both tuck me in?” Violet smiled. “Of course, munchkin. Anything you want.” Dodger made his way upstairs and Simon stood. He walked over to Violet and placed his hands on her waist. “Everything alright with your mom?” Violet smiled and nodded as she placed her hands on Simon’s shoulders. “Everything is fine.” She responded before leaning up to kiss Simon softly. “C’mon. Let’s head upstairs and put our son to bed.” She said before taking Simon’s hand and leading him upstairs. Simon couldn’t help but grin hearing Violet refer to Dodger as their son. It was true, but hearing her say it made it even better. As they walked into Dodger’s room he was pulling on his pajama pants before climbing onto his bed. Violet pulled back his covers and once he was laying down she tucked him in. Simon picked a book and he and Violet read it to Dodger, doing voices for the different characters as they read. Dodger giggled at them but he was dead asleep by the time they finished. Violet leaned over and kissed his forehead. Simon did the same before they creeped out of the room, leaving a night light on and the door cracked open.
Simon walked towards the stairs and was about to head down when he felt Violet wrap her hand around his wrist. He turned to face her. Without a word she leaned up and kissed him softly. Simon smiled against her lips and placed a hand on her waist. Violet pulled back and bit her lip as she took Simon’s hand and lead him to her bedroom. Once they were inside, Violet shut the door and pulled Simon to her. He smirked and wrapped his arms around her, holding her close. Violet wrapped her arms around his neck and leaned up to kiss him deeply. Simon slid his hands down, giving Violet’s ass a firm squeeze, causing her to sigh against his lips. She pulled back and climbed onto the bed. Simon smirked as he walked over to the bed. Violet noticed Simon’s smirk and quirked an eyebrow. “What’s that look for?” She asked softly. Simon shrugged. “I just find it kinda crazy that we’re here again.” Violet smiled softly. “Deep down I knew that if we ever crossed paths again that this is exactly what would happen.” “Really?” Violet nodded. “We’re meant to be together, Simon. I never believed in stuff like that before but I know now that it’s true.” Simon placed his hands on Violet’s waist. “And you say I’m the cheesy one.” Violet laughed softly and slapped Simon’s shoulder. “Shut up and kiss me.” “Yes, ma’am.” Simon leaned down and kissed Violet passionately. Violet reached down and started to undo Simon’s pants before working on unbuttoning his shirt.
Simon slipped his shirt off before pushing his pants down and kicking them off. He broke the kiss to help Violet get her clothes off. Once she was naked Simon licked his lips. It didn’t matter how many times he saw her naked, she just looked so incredible that he couldn’t help but admire her. It always made Violet blush but it also turned her on to see Simon lick his lips and his breathing get heavier when he looked her over. Violet sat and leaned back on her elbows, beckoning Simon closer with her finger. He groaned softly and leaned down, running a hand from Violet’s knee to her hip as he kissed along her neck and collarbone. Violet tilted her head back and moaned softly. Simon kissed down Violet’s chest and over her breasts and stomach before kneeling at the edge of the bed. Violet spread her legs as Simon leaned down further to kiss and nip along her inner thighs. Violet whimpered and threaded her fingers through Simon’s hair as he gently flicked his tongue over her clit. Simon groaned when he felt Violet tug on his hair. He lightly sucked Violet’s clit before slowly slipping a finger inside Violet’s waiting pussy. Violet bit her lip to try and keep herself quiet. Simon swirled his tongue around Violet’s clit as he slowly thrust his finger in and out of Violet. She was already feeling close. Simon knew exactly how to get Violet off. He could tell she was getting close. Simon slipped a second finger inside her and gently massaged her g spot. Violet’s thighs trembled as she came, moaning Simon’s name loudly as she did.
Once Violet’s orgasm passed Simon slowly slipped his fingers from her, causing her to whimper softly. Violet immediately sat up and pulled Simon into a passionate kiss. Simon moaned as he reached down and pushed his underwear off, letting his rock hard member spring free. Violet pulled back and licked her lips. “Get on your back. I wanna ride you.” Simon groaned as he climbed onto the bed and laid on his back. Violet immediately straddled his waist and started to grind her hips against his. Simon moaned softly and ran his hands down Violet’s sides. She reached back and wrapped a and around his member before lifting her hips a bit and lining him up with her entrance. She sank her hips down and bit her lip as he filled her. Simon held Violet’s hips as she took him in. Once he was completely inside her, he grabbed Violet’s breasts and used his thumbs to circle her nipples. Violet’s mouth hung open as she started to slowly rock her hips. This was her favorite way for Simon to fuck her. When she was on top, his cock just seemed to hit all the right spots inside her. Sex with him was good in any position, but this one was the best. Simon started gently pinching Violet’s nipples before rolling the hardened nubs between his fingers. The dual pleasure was overwhelming for Violet and she knew it was gonna push her over the edge. But she wanted this to last a little longer. So she wrapped her hands around Simon’s wrists and pinned his arms above his head. She leaned forward and started to lift her hips up and down. After a moment, Simon started to move his hips in time, thrusting up when Violet thrusted down.
Violet was trying her best to not moan too loud as she didn’t want to wake Dodger, but this was just too good. Simon slid his hands from Violet’s grasp and grabbed her hips, holding her still as he thrust up into her hard and fast. He could tell she was close. Violet put her hands on Simon’s chest, her nails dug into his skin and she bit her bottom lip as he fucked her. Simon could feel himself getting close. He groaned softly as his fingers dug into Violet’s hips. “Fuck, I’m gonna cum, baby.” He moaned. Violet tried to respond but as she opened her mouth all that came out was a whimper as another orgasm washed over her. Simon came at the same time, spilling his load inside of Violet, but continued to gently thrust his hips to ride out both their orgasms. After a moment Violet leaned forward and pressed a few soft kisses to Simon’s lips. “That was amazing.” Simon smiled and nodded. “Damn right it was.” Violet laughed softly and kissed Simon once more before slowly lifting her hips, climbing off of Simon and heading to the bathroom to clean herself up. When she returned she crawled into bed and immediately snuggled up to Simon. This was her favorite part. She loved how safe she felt when Simon wrapped his arms around her, how relaxing the sound of his breathing was as he drifted off to sleep. Violet looked up and just admired him for a moment. She suddenly felt overwhelmed with adoration. Seeing how peaceful he looked and knowing that him being with her made him feel that way, was almost too much for her to bear. But she knew that because she had all the same feelings that she’d had before with him, that they were both where they belonged, in each other’s arms.
Summary: Emily and Simon go to the doctor and tell Amara some very important news.

Notes: So I know I said I was going to stop apologizing for these chapters taking so long, but I feel like I need to apologize for this one. I wrote it, then deleted it, then rewrote it, then deleted half of it, then deleted the rest. This is the third or fourth rewrite. I don’t know what it was but I just had a really hard time getting through this chapter. Hopefully ya’ll still enjoy though!
Emily was sitting on the edge of Simon’s bed with her hands on her knees as she stared off into space. Today her and Simon were going to an OB doctor. Emily had been completely in a panic after her regular doctor told her she was pregnant. Luckily, since Simon had been through this before with his ex-wife when she was pregnant with Amara, he knew exactly what to do. The day after she’d found out the news, Emily called a doctor. They told her that while it was rare there was a chance the blood test her doctor had given her was a false positive. So at her first appointment they would do an ultrasound to confirm if Emily was pregnant and then talk about what she needs to do to take care of herself and the baby if she was. She was holding off on telling her family and friends, as was Simon, until they knew for sure. Emily was nervous. She was only 22 years old. She had no doubts that Simon would be an amazing father because he already was an amazing father to Amara. But was she ready? She and Simon had a long talk about what this would mean for them and what their options were. Simon made it clear he would support Emily no matter what she decided.
Simon walked into the bedroom and Emily sitting there zoned out. He walked over to her and gently placed a hand on her shoulder. “Hey, you ok?” Emily jumped a little and smiled. “Yeah, yeah, just thinking.” Simon smiled a bit. “C’mon, we gotta get going.” Emily nodded and stood, following Simon downstairs and out to the car. She climbed into the passenger side and buckled up. As Simon drove towards the doctor’s office Emily’s mind wouldn’t stop racing. Simon could tell she was nervous. He was nervous too but he was doing his best to not let it show. He reached over and grabbed her hand. “Everything is going to be ok, sweetheart.” Emily gave Simon’s hand a squeeze. “I know.” Simon pulled into the parking lot of the doctor’s office and climbed out of the car. He walked around to the passenger side to let Emily out and held her hand as they walked into the office. Simon sat down as Emily walked up to the front desk and the nurse had her fill out some forms. Once she was done Emily sat down next to Simon and waited to be called.
About 10 minutes later a nurse appeared from the back and called Emily’s name. She took a deep breath and grabbed Simon’s hand. They stood and followed the nurse to an exam room. “Good morning, Emily. My name is Madison. I’ll be assisting the doctor today. So you’re here today because your doctor told you that you’re pregnant, is that correct?” Emily nodded as she climbed up onto the exam table. Simon sat on a chair next to the table. “Can you tell me a little bit about how you’ve been feeling lately? Any troubles or sickness?” The nurse asked. She made notes as Emily went over some of the things she’d been experiencing. After a few more questions the nurse smiled. “Alright, Emily, I’m gonna go let Dr. Thomas know that you’re here and he’ll be in in a few minutes.” “Thank you.” Emily said softly. Simon reached over and took Emily’s hand. “You ok?” He asked. Emily nodded. “I’ll be alright.” As promised, a few moments later the doctor and nurse returned. “Good morning, everyone. My name is Dr. Thomas. You must be Emily.” He said as he reached out his hand to Emily. She smiled and shook his hand. “And are you Emily’s father?” The doctor asked as he turned to Simon. Emily stifled a laugh. Simon smirked a bit. “No, I’m Emily’s boyfriend.” He said as he shook the doctor’s hand. “Oh, my apologies.” The doctor quickly looked down at Emily’s chart while the nurse set up the ultrasound machine.
“Alright, Emily, I’m gonna need you to lay back and lift up your shirt.” Emily laid back, adjusting herself a bit so she was more comfortable. “Alright this is gonna be cold.” The doctor said before squirting some gel on Emily’s stomach. She jumped a bit and squeezed Simon’s hand. He lifted her hand and gave it a kiss to comfort her. Emily smiled over at Simon as the doctor started to run the prove over Emily’s stomach. After a few moments the doctor nodded and pointed to the screen. “Yep, there we are.” He reached over to the screen and circled something. “See that?” Emily nodded. “That is the fetal sac. And see this flickering here? That is your baby’s heartbeat. And here…” The doctor turned a knob on the screen. Suddenly there was a loud thumping. “That is the sound of your baby’s heartbeat.” Emily stared at the screen almost in disbelief. Part of her had convinced herself that the blood test her doctor had given her was wrong. “So I really am pregnant?” She asked. The doctor nodded. “Yes indeed. From the looks of everything I’d say you’re about 7 weeks along. Now I see from your chart here that this is your first pregnancy. So Madison here will get you a printout of the sonogram and get you cleaned up and then you can come to my office and we’ll all go over some important information that you’re gonna need. Sound good?” Emily nodded and smiled. “Thank you, doctor.”
The nurse cleaned the remaining gel off of Emily’s stomach before handing her a printout of the sonogram as promised. “Dr. Thomas’ office is just down the hall to your left. Come on down whenever you’re ready.” She said before exiting the exam room. Emily sat up and stared at the picture she held in her hands for a moment. Simon stood and gently rubbed Emily’s back before kissing the top of her head. “Are you gonna be ok?” He asked softly. Emily looked up at him and nodded. “I will be. I just need some time to process all of this.” “I told you last night and I’ll tell you again. No matter what you decide, I’m with you all the way.” Emily smiled as she hopped down off the table. “I know.” Emily and Simon headed to the doctor’s office to discuss what happens next. The doctor started going over some information with Emily and Simon including vitamins Emily should take, exercises she should do, and how often she needed to come in for check ups. Emily and Simon thanked the doctor before heading back out to the car. Once they were in the car, Emily let out a heavy sigh. Simon reached over and took her hand. “What are you thinking?” Emily took the sonogram picture and gently placed it in her purse. “I don’t know yet. I’m just feeling a little overwhelmed right now. Can you take me to my place? I think I need some time alone time to think.” Simon nodded. “Ok, if that’s what you want.”
When Simon pulled up in front of Emily’s house she leaned over and kissed him softly. “I’ll talk to you later, ok?” Simon smiled softly. “Ok, my love. Call me if you need anything.” “I will.” Emily climbed out of the car and went into her house. She laid on the couch and her mind raced. She kept replaying everything the doctor had told her. She knew that Simon meant it when he said he would support her no matter what. Emily knew what she needed was just to relax. Everything would be ok. That night she took a relaxing bubble bath and caught up on her favorite TV shows before dozing off. The next day she asked Simon to pick her up and take her to work. She’d left her car at his house. When Simon arrived Emily walked out and climbed into the car, immediately leaning over to kiss him sweetly. “You feeling any better?” He asked. Emily smiled and nodded. “I am. I had some time to think about everything. I know that this is scary and overwhelming but I know that I can do this. I know I can be a good mom.” Simon reached over and took Emily’s hand. “You’re gonna be an amazing mom.” She smiled over at him. “Are you surprised by my decision?” Simon shook his head. “Not at all. I knew you were nervous but I could tell that you wanted to do this when you told me about it. You had a look in your eyes.” Emily laughed softly.
When they got to the club Emily walked in a greeted Chris. “Hey, Em, nice to have you back. I’m glad to see you’re feeling better.” Emily smiled as she tied her apron on. “I am, thank you.” Emily immediately went to serve her first table. Simon walked behind the bar to start helping out. After a few hours Simon looked up when he heard someone call his name. It was Negan paying an unexpected visit. “Hey, man. What’s going on?” Simon asked as Negan sat at the bar. Negan shook his head. “Not much, friend. Just had a long week at work. I needed to unwind a bit. Can I get a beer?” Simon nodded and grabbed Negan a bottle of his favorite beer. The two talked for a few minutes before Emily walked behind the bar. She walked over to Simon and leaned up to kiss his cheek. “I’m going to take my break. Can you join me?” Simon smiled a bit. “Maybe in a bit. I’m entertaining.” He said as he nodded towards Negan. Emily smiled and waved. “Hey, Negan. How are you?” “I”m good, darlin’. How are you?” Emily gave Negan a thumbs up before putting in a order for her lunch and grabbing a booth. Negan watched as Emily walked off. “Everything ok with you two?” He asked. Simon nodded and smiled a bit. “Yeah, we talked. I told her my concerns. She was upset but she went to the doctor about it.” Negan nodded a bit. “Is she ok?” Simon looked around before leaning in. “Well, we haven’t told anyone yet but…Emily’s pregnant.” Negan’s eyes widened a bit as he looked over his shoulder at Emily before looking back to Simon. “No shit?” Simon laughed softly. “Don’t say anything though. Like I said we haven’t told anyone yet.”
Negan put his hand on his chest and made a fake surprised gasping sound. “I’m the first person you told? Well Simon, I have got to tell you I am so honored.” Simon laughed and slapped Negan’s shoulder. “Shut up, you asshole.” Negan laughed and turned as Simon walked out from behind the bar. “Seriously though, man, I’m happy for you. I know you love her. And I already you’re a great dad. You deserve this.” Simon smiled and nodded. “Thanks, Negan. That means a lot to me.” “Stop jabbering on to me and go eat lunch with your baby mama.” Simon laughed and walked off to join Emily. They ate fairly quick since Emily had to get back to work but they quietly made plans to have dinner with Amara that night so they could tell her the news. Simon pulled out his phone to text Sherry to make the plans. Sherry had Amara for the next couple of weeks but he figured she would be ok with them having her over for dinner.
Simon: Hey. Can I come by and pick up Amara around 7 and bring her to my place for dinner? I’ll bring her back when we’re done.
Sherry: I guess that would be fine. Is everything ok?
Simon: Yeah, I just wanted to talk to her about something.
Sherry: Anything I should know about?
Simon: I”ll tell you after I talk to Amara. But it’s nothing bad. Don’t worry.
Sherry: Ok, I’ll let her know.
Simon made sure he got all of his work done a little early so he could ensure he was ready to go as soon as Emily was done her shift at 6. As soon as Emily was ready they headed out to Simon’s car. They drove over to Sherry’s house and Simon hopped out and opened the back door for Amara. She climbed in and buckled up. “Hi, Emily!” She said excitedly. “Hey, girl. How are you?” Emily and Amara chatted during the ride back to Simon’s house. Simon pulled into the driveway and Emily and Amara climbed out of the car. As soon as they got in Emily headed towards the steps. “I’m gonna change out of my gross work clothes and get a quick shower. I’ll be back down in a little bit.” Simon nodded. “Sounds good. Why don’t you come help me with dinner, baby girl.” Amara hurried into the kitchen to help Simon with dinner. They made something simple, baked chicken with mac n cheese and biscuits. Emily came back downstairs just as Simon was putting the food on the table. She inhaled and smiled. “Mm, that smells wonderful.” Simon smiled a bit. “Thank you. Amara made the mac n cheese.” “Really? I can’t wait to try it.” The three of them sat down and Simon dished out food for everyone. Amara talked about what she’d been doing in school and how soccer had been going. Emily and Simon listened intently as she spoke.
After they were done eating Simon put the dishes in the sink. “So mom said that you wanted to talk to me about something.” Amara said. Simon turned and nodded before sitting back down next to Emily. “Yes, we do.” He said, clearing his throat before continuing. “Well, I know that your mom just had her baby recently and that everything has been pretty crazy at her house. But I know that you’ve been doing everything you can to be the best big sister you can be. Which is why I know you’re gonna be a great big sister again when Emily has her baby.” Emily put her hand over Simon’s. “Our baby.” She corrected him. Simon smiled and nodded. “Yes, sorry. Our baby.” Amara looked back and forth between them. “You’re gonna have a baby?” She asked Emily. Emily nodded. “Yes, I am.” Amara slid off her chair and walked around to the other side of the table. “But you don’t have a belly.” She said to Emily, causing her to giggle. “Well that’s because I’m not that far along yet. But your dad and I went to the doctor this morning and he gave us this.” Emily grabbed her phone and pulled up the picture she’d taken of the sonogram, pointing out where the baby was to Amara. “That looks like a bean.” Amara replied. Emily laughed and nodded. “You’re right. It does look like a bean. But pretty soon it’s gonna look like baby.”
Amara looked back and forth between them for a moment. “So…I’m gonna be a big sister twice?” Simon nodded. “Yes, you are.” Amara smiled. “That’s pretty cool. Can I babysit?” Emily and Simon laughed softly. “Well, maybe when you’re a little older, baby girl.” Simon replied. He stood and rubbed his belly. “Alright. I told your mom I’d bring you back right after we were done dinner.” Amara nodded and went to get her shoes on. “I’ll stay here and clean up while you drop her off, ok?” Emily said. Simon nodded and leaned down to kiss Emily’s forehead. Emily stood and walked out to the living room to give Amara a hug before her and Simon left. Emily went back to the kitchen and put away the leftovers before starting to wash the dishes in the sink. Just as she washed the last dish Simon walked back in the house. Emily walked out to the living room and wrapped her arms around his neck, smiling up at him. “Hi.” Simon laughed softly. “Hey.” He said as he put his hands on her hips. She leaned up and pressed a soft kiss to his lips. Emily slid her hands down Simon’s shoulders and rested them on his chest. “I’m kinda sleepy.” She said as she yawned. Simon nodded. “Me too. But I have a little work to do. If I get it done tonight then we’ll have all day tomorrow together.” Emily smiled. “Ok, sounds good.” Simon leaned down and pecked Emily’s lips. “Why don’t you head upstairs. I’ll get my work done and I’ll be up soon, ok?” Emily nodded and kissed Simon softly a few times before heading upstairs.
Simon grabbed some paperwork that he needed to complete and sat at the kitchen table. He wanted to start planning now for when Emily gave birth so that he could take time off to be with her. He needed to make sure the club was left in capable hands while he was gone. He wanted to ensure that whoever he decided would cover for him would know exactly what would need to be done, how to properly make a schedule, do inventory, etc. It would be difficult but he knew there were at least a couple of people who could handle it. When Simon finally finished up the last bit of work, it had been a little over an hour since he’d started. Not too bad. He stood from the table and shut out the lights before heading up to the bedroom. Emily was laying asleep in the bed. Simon stood in the doorway for a moment to just look at her. She looked so peaceful. Simon smiled before stripping down to his boxer briefs and carefully climbing into bed next to her. Almost immediately Emily turned and snuggled close to Simon. She buried her face in his neck and placed a hand on his chest. Simon smiled softly and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close to him.
Emily opened her eyes and looked up at Simon. “Get all your work done?” She asked softly. Simon nodded. “Yes, ma’am.” She giggled softly. “Ma’am? That sounds so formal.” Emily ran her hand down Simon’s chest and over his abs, stopping just above the waistband of his underwear. She leaned in and started to kiss along Simon’s neck and jaw. “Ya know, suddenly I’m not that tired anymore.” She said. Simon smirked and titled his head a bit. “Mm, is that so? And what should we do about that do you think?” “I have a few ideas.” Emily said as she slipped her hand into Simon’s underwear and wrapped her hand around his member. Simon groaned softly and leaned down to kiss Emily passionately. Emily moved so she was on top of Simon, straddling his waist. Simon slid his hands down Emily’s side as she sat up. She pulled off her sleep shirt, revealing that she was completely naked underneath. Simon licked his lips as he sat up and wrapped an arm around Emily’s waist. He ran his hand over her back as he leaned in and pressed soft kisses along her chest and breasts. Emily whimpered softly and moved her hips so she could push Simon’s underwear down. He kicked his legs to get them off before sliding his hands down to grab Emily’s ass. She groaned and put her hands on Simon’s shoulder, gently pushing him so he was laying down. She reached behind her and wrapped her hand around Simon’s now hardened member. She leaned forward a bit and teased her entrance with his cock head for a moment before pushing her hips back, easily taking Simon’s sizable dick in her tight heat.
Emily whimpered softly as she gave herself a minute to adjust. She loved how Simon felt inside her. It felt like he was made for her. He just felt so perfect. Once she felt ready Emily placed her hands on Simon’s chest as she started to slowly rock her hips back and forth. Simon put his hands on Emily’s thighs as he stared up at her. God, she was so gorgeous. Simon moaned as Emily started to move her hips a bit faster. Emily ran her hands over Simon’s before lacing their fingers together as she continued moving her hips. She whimpered as the head of Simon’s cock brushed against her g-spot. Her head lulled back as she let out a long, loud moan. “Simon, baby…fuck you feel so good.” Simon licked his lips and groaned. “You do too, baby. So tight.” Emily released Simon’s hands and leaned forward, placing one hand on either side of Simon’s head on the bed. “Fuck me.” She whimpered softly. Simon put his hands on Emily’s hips and planted his feet on the bed as he started to thrust up into Emily’s tight pussy. Her body trembled and her eyes rolled back as Simon fucked her hard and fast. She reached down and started to quickly circle her clit as she felt her orgasm starting to build.
Simon felt his stomach start to tighten as his orgasm approached. He knew he wasn’t going to be able to last much longer. Emily moaned and bit her bottom lip. “Fuck, I’m gonna cum, baby…I’m so close, don’t stop.” Simon started to thrust his hips harder and faster. Emily’s mouth hung open as she went over the edge, her thighs quivering as she came. Simon thrust a few more times before releasing inside of Emily. She leaned down and kissed Simon deeply as her breathing started to return to normal. “Mm, that was so good.” Simon grinned and pecked Emily’s lips softly a few times. “It always is.” Emily laughed softly before slowly lifting her hips, hissing slightly as Simon’s flaccid dick slipped out of her. She crawled out of bed and went to the bathroom to clean up. She brought Simon a wet rag so he could quickly clean up as well. After tossing the rag back towards the bathroom, Emily climbed back into bed and snuggled close to Simon. He cupped her cheek, gently caressing her skin with his thumb before leaning down to kiss her sweetly. “I love you.” He said softly. Emily smiled and licked her lips. “I love you too.” Emily kissed Simon before turning over so her back was against his chest. As Emily started to quickly drift back to sleep, Simon placed a hand gently on her belly. There was no bump yet but Simon could feel a difference. He smiled, knowing that having a baby with Emily, even though unplanned, was going to be one of the best things he ever did.
Summary: After spending a lot of time getting to know Dodger, Simon decides it’s time he and Violet get to know each other again.
Warnings: Cursing, Angst, Fluff, Smut
Notes: I just realized that there was a six year time jump in this story from when Violet left New York to when Simon tracks her down in San Diego. And there was a six year time jump on The Walking Dead. Did I predict the six year time jump? I think I did. /sarcasm. Also, I’m headed to Walker Stalker Con next week so I may not have another chapter of either story up until after that.
Song for this Chapter: “Reunited” by Peaches & Herb (Playlist Here!)
It had been a little over a month and a half since Violet had introduced Dodger to Simon. So far things were going great. Dodger was calling Simon ‘dad’ and he always gets very excited when he hears that his dad is coming over. Simon had been spending nearly every night at Violet’s house. One Saturday the three of them did go to a nearby park and Violet sat on a bench while Simon and Dodger played on the jungle gym and swing set. Violet had brought a book with her but she barely read it since she was so busy watching Simon and Dodger. Simon really was a good father. Not that Violet had any doubts the he wouldn’t be. She knew how badly he’d wanted this. Violet had even let Simon and Dodger go out alone. It was good that they did as Violet needed time to explain to her family what was going on. They knew that Dodger’s father was Simon, that was old news. But she had to explain that Simon had found her and showed up randomly and that he was getting to know his son. Her father wanted to confront Simon about how he’d treated Violet all those years ago but Violet was able to talk some sense into him.
Violet was currently sitting at her kitchen table across from Dodger while he was eating a snack. She was so happy that he was getting on with Simon. He really seemed to be opening up a lot more. Not that he was closed off before. But he just seemed so much happier than he already had been having Simon around. Violet smiled softly to herself and bit her bottom lip. “Hey, listen, munchkin. Uncle Chris is gonna come over and hang out with you tonight, ok?” Dodger nodded enthusiastically. “Ok! Is my dad coming over too?” “Not tonight, sweetheart. Your dad and I are going out because we have some things that we need to talk about.” “Grown up things?” Violet nodded. “Yes, sweetie, grown up things. So once your Uncle Chris gets here mommy is gonna get ready and then go meet your dad at his hotel. But if you’re good for Uncle Chris tonight then maybe your dad will come over for breakfast tomorrow. How does that sound?” Dodger grinned. “Awesome!” Violet laughed as Dodger slid off his chair and ran to his playroom.
A few minutes later Violet heard her front door open. “Vi?” It was her brother Chris. “I’m in the kitchen.” She replied. Chris walked into the kitchen and sat where Dodger had been sitting a few minutes earlier. “Hey, how are you?” Violet shrugged a bit. “I’m ok. Kinda nervous about tonight.” “Why?” He asked. “It’s been a long time since I’ve spent any time alone with Simon. Things have been going great with him and Dodger and I’m worried that we’ll get in a fight and it’ll mess things up.” “Well you said he’s a good guy and good father. Even if you guys get in a fight I doubt he’d let it come between him and his son. And I know that you’re not a vindictive person. You’d never keep him from seeing Dodger.” Violet nodded. “I know. I just…it’s gonna be weird seeing him one on one again.” “You’ll be alright, kiddo. You’re a lot stronger than you give yourself credit for.” Chris said reassuringly. Violet smiled and nodded. “I know. I should go get ready. Dodger’s in his playroom.” Violet stood and headed upstairs, smiling to herself when she heard Dodger yell “Uncle Chris!”
Violet opened her closet door and stared at everything for a moment. Her and Simon were getting dinner and drinks, nothing fancy. She didn’t want to overdress or dress provocatively and send the wrong message. She decided on a long sleeved burgundy colored blouse that didn’t show too much cleavage, black jeans, and nude colored flats. She put on a pair of simple gold stud earrings and quickly put on mauve eyeshadow, mascara, and lipgloss. She looked herself over in the mirror as she pulled her wavy hair into a ponytail, biting her bottom lip. She decided that her look was toned down enough and grabbed a black clutch purse from her closet. She put her ID, credit card, cash, phone, and lip gloss inside before heading downstairs. She walked to the playroom and leaned against the doorway. “Hey, munchkin, I’m heading out now.” Dodger stood and ran over to Violet, wrapped his arms around her. “Bye, mommy. I love you.” Violet held him close and leaned down to kiss his forehead. “I love you too. I’ll see you in the morning, ok?” Dodger nodded as he hurried back to his pile of legos and matchbox cars. Chris waved at her. “Have fun. Do you know what time you’ll be home?” Violet shook her head. “I’ll text you and let you know.” She said before heading out.
Violet texted Simon that she was on her way to the hotel and drove towards the highway. She wasn’t too far from where Simon was staying but was far enough that she had time to think on the drive. What if this was a bad idea? In the days leading up to this, Violet could feel herself letting her guard down more and more around Simon. As much as she wanted them to have a normal relationship, it was hard for her. They’d meant so much to each other at one point. She still cared about Simon and she was pretty sure that Simon still cared about her. But their relationship had taken such an emotional toll on her that she hadn’t been able to have a real relationship since. She’d only been with one other person in the six years since she left New York. Sure she had hookups here and there. But it just wasn’t the same. As much as she didn’t want to admit it, Violet could see herself being with Simon again. She tried to shake that thought from her mind as she pulled up in front of Simon’s hotel. She texted him that she was there and moment later he came outside and lightly jogged to her car before climbing in and buckling up. He smiled that bright, warm smile of his. “Hey, how are you?” He asked. Violet smiled and nodded. “I’m good, how are you?” Simon nodded as well. “Not too bad.”
The exchanged small talk as Violet drove to the restaurant. They had decided on a simple Italian place not too far from the hotel. Violet pulled into the parking lot and found a fairly close spot. They climbed out of the car and made their way inside. The hostess seated them at a cozy booth near the back of the restaurant and handed them each a menu. While Violet was looking over the menu, she could feel Simon looking at her. She flicked her eyes upward and saw Simon staring at her over his menu. “What?” She asked softly. Simon smiled and shook his head. “Nothing, just…you look nice. It’s nice seeing you again.” “You’ve seen me pretty much everyday for the last six weeks.” “I know but not like this. All dressed up and what not.” Violet looked over herself. “I’m not that dressed up.” Simon shrugged. “You just look really nice.” Violet blushed a bit and smiled. “Thanks. You look nice too.” A few moments later their waitress came over and took their orders. She returned quickly with a glass of wine for Violet and a beer for Simon.
The conversation started off a little strained at first but they quickly fell into a comfortable rhythm. Simon told Violet about what was going on with his business. He’d added some pretty famous clients to his roster over the years. Violet felt proud hearing him talk about it. She knew how important the business was to him and how hard he worked to build it into what it had become. Simon also told Violet about his brother and sister-in-law having twins and his mother having surgery after taking a bad fall. Violet never got a chance to meet any of Simon’s family but he’d told her a lot about them so she felt like she knew them. He got visibly upset when he talked about his mom. Violet reached over and placed her hand comfortingly over Simon’s. He looked down at her hand before looking up at her. He turned his hand and wrapped his fingers around hers, giving her hand a slight squeeze. Violet blushed a bit and pulled her hand back. Simon smirked a bit and took a sip of his beer. “So, besides having a secret baby, what else have you been up to?” Simon asked Violet.
Violet laughed softly. “Well I’ve been working at a local newspaper for the last couple of years.” “Oh are you a reporter now?” Violet shook her head. “Oh god no. I’m an associate editor.” Simon quirked an eyebrow. “What does an associate editor do?” “I’m a jack of all trades really. I do research and fact checking for stories, I do first draft edits, sometimes come up with headlines. An editor position is opening up soon so I’m hoping to get a promotion.” Simon nodded. “That sounds cool. Do you like it?” Violet smiled a bit. “I do. I really enjoy doing all the research especially when it’s like a really deep investigative piece about a legal issue. I like going to court hearings and reading all the legal briefs.” “Really? That’s awesome. You sound really passionate about it. I’m glad you’re happy.” A moment later the waitress brought their food. They continued talking as they ate and soon enough it felt as if no time had passed at all. Once they were done eating Simon paid the bill against Violet’s wishes. She wanted to split the bill but he insisted on paying.
They left the restaurant and stepped outside. Violet looked up at Simon. “There’s an ice cream shop right down the block. Wanna get dessert?” Simon smiled and nodded. “Yeah that sounds good.” They walked down the block to the crowded ice cream parlor and got in line. Violet got a cone with double chocolate ice cream and Simon got a dish with vanilla topped with rainbow jimmies. They walked outside and sat on a bench so they could eat. The pair were talking about less serious things now like TV and movies. At one point Simon stared at Violet licking her ice cream and let his thoughts drift to a not so clean place. He quickly shook himself out of that thought and blushed a bit once he realized what he was doing. It did not go unnoticed by Violet but she decided it was best not to say anything. After they finished their treats they walked back to the car. Violet drove back to the hotel and pulled up out front a few moments later. Simon looked at the time. “It’s still kinda early. Did you wanna come in a get a drink at the bar?” Violet thought for a moment. She wondered if this would be a good idea. She wanted to keep talking to Simon, she was having a really nice time. But there was part of her that knew that if she went into that hotel with Simon then there was a chance that she’d wind up back in his room. “Fuck it.” Violet thought to herself. She smiled and nodded. “Yeah, ok, sure.”
Simon pointed to where Violet could go to get her car valet parked. She pulled up and the valet opened her door for her. She thanked him as he handed her a ticket for her car. She slipped the ticket into her jean pocket and followed Simon into the hotel and to the bar. They sat on stools at the counter and the bartender walked over to them. “Good evening, folks. What can I get for you?” Simon motioned for Violet to order first. “Umm, I’ll take an apple martini.” The bartender nodded and looked to Simon. “I’ll have Crown Royal, neat, please.” The bartender walked away to prepare their drinks. He set their glasses down in front of them a moment later. “Would you like to open up a tab?” He asked. Simon nodded. “Yes, under room 705, please.” “You got it, sir. Enjoy.” Simon and Violet picked up their glasses and held them up. “Let’s make a toast.” Simon said. Violet smiled. “Ok, to what?” She asked. “To us. To new beginnings, to being friends, to being parents.” Violet laughed softly and clinked her glass against Simon’s before taking a drink.
As the night progressed, Simon and Violet laughed and talked and drank and just enjoyed being around each other. Violet had worried that things would be awkward between them but was relieved that things seemed almost like normal. At one point an older woman, probably in her late 60s, walked up to them while they were mid conversation. “Excuse me, I’m sorry to interrupt your conversation, but I’ve been watching you two and I just had to say that you two remind me of myself and my husband.” Violet furrowed her eyebrows as the woman spoke. “What do you mean?” “My husband and I were very much in love. Even though we were married for almost fifty years it was as if we were still in the honeymoon phase. You two are obviously very in love. It’s very sweet and I wish you both all the happiness in the world.” Violet’s jaw was hanging open a bit as she watched the woman walk away. Once she was out of the bar she and Simon looked at each other for a moment before they started giggling. “That was very strange.” Violet said. Simon finished his whiskey and put his glass on the counter. “Was it?” He asked.
“Um, yeah, it was.” Violet responded. Simon licked his lips. “You think someone seeing the way we’ve been acting and thinking we’re together is weird?” “What do you mean ‘the way we’ve been acting?’” “I mean we’ve been talking and laughing and maybe flirting a little for the last couple of hours.” Violet set her glass down. “Umm, I have not been flirting.” Simon laughed a bit. “Ok, if you say so.” “I haven’t.” She insisted. “Maybe you don’t even realize you’ve been doing it. I mean I don’t blame you because I have been to and I certainly haven’t been rebuffing you. I’ve been enjoying it, if I’m being honest.” Violet finished her drink and reached into her purse to get cash so she could tip the bartender. “This was a bad idea.” She said as she started to get off the stool. Simon stopped her by placing a hand on her side before quickly leaning in to press a soft kiss to her lips. Violet was caught off guard and initially responded by returning the kiss. A flood of emotion overwhelmed Violet at first and the kiss was so familiar. After a few seconds she realized what was going on and quickly pulled away. She stared up at Simon for a moment before quickly sliding off her stool and heading out of the hotel.
Violet walked outside and handed her ticket to the valet. He picked up a walkie talkie and gave someone on the other end the number on her ticket. Violet just stood there and kept replaying what had just happened. She was feeling confused. She told herself over and over again that she didn’t want to get back into it with Simon. But she definitely felt something when he kissed her. Something she hadn’t felt in years. She started questioning herself. Why didn’t she want to get back into it with Simon? Yes, she’d been hurt before. But so many years had passed and Violet knew that Simon was sorry for what had happened between them. Was she punishing herself? Violet had felt so bad about not telling Simon about Dodger that part of her felt like she didn’t deserve love or happiness. A voice in Violet’s head kept yelling at her, “What are you doing? Go get him!” Violet turned to the valet and smiled. “I’m so sorry but can you cancel? I’ve had a little too much to drink and I’m realizing that I probably shouldn’t drive right now.” The valet nodded and handed her back her ticket. “Of course, ma’am. Would you like me to call you a cab?” Violet shook her head. “No thank you. I’m just gonna go back inside.” But Violet wasn’t drunk. She’d never felt more sober in her life. She walked back inside the hotel and headed to the bar. Simon was gone. “Shit.” She was going to text him but then remembered he gave the bartender his room number to set up the tab. “705.” She mumbled to herself before heading to the elevators. She quickly texted her brother to let him know she was getting a room at the hotel because she drank too much and to see if he could spend the night with Dodger at her place. He quickly responded that he could and told her to be safe and feel better.
Violet got on an elevator and hit the button to head to the seventh floor. She started to feel nervous as the elevator approached the correct floor. Once the doors opened she stepped off and followed the sign on the wall to the end of the hall where room 705 was. Violet stood there and just stared at the door for a moment. What was she doing? She immediately turned and started back towards the elevator before stopping. No. She’d come up here for a reason. Even though it felt scary to open herself up again, she knew this was the right thing for her right now. She turned back and walked up Simon’s room, knocking on the door and stepping back a bit. A moment later Simon opened the door and furrowed his eyebrows. “Hey, is everythi-“ Violet cut him off by grabbing his shirt collar and pulling him down into a passionate kiss. Simon immediately wrapped his arms around Violet’s waist and pulled her close. She walked Simon back into his room and kicked the door closed behind her. After a minute Simon pulled back. “Wait, what’s happening?” He asked breathlessly. “I’ve decided to stop punishing myself and let myself be happy again.” “What about before? Downstairs?” Violet shrugged. “You made the first move. It caught me off guard, that’s all.” Simon brought a hand up to cup Violet’s cheek. She could feel herself tear up a little. It’d been so long since he touched her like that. She leaned into the touch. “Are you sure about this?” He asked. Violet smiled and nodded. “I’m positive.” She said before leaning up to kiss Simon sweetly.
As they continued kissing, Violet started to unbutton Simon’s shirt. She ran her hands down his chest and sighed softly when her fingers ran over his still chiseled abs. Simon quickly slipped his shirt off before wrapping his arms around Violet and holding her tightly. She wrapped her arms around his neck as she stood on the tips of her toes to kiss him. After a moment Simon pulled back and pulled Violet’s blouse over her head. She suddenly felt very self conscious and covered her belly with her arms. Simon looked down at her. “Hey, what’s wrong?” He asked. She shook her head. “You’re still in such good shape and I’m so not. This was a horrible idea.” Violet reached for her shirt. Simon sat on the edge of the bed and pulled Violet into his lap. “Hey, listen to me.” He turned her face towards him and pecked her lips a few times. “I told you before that you are the most beautiful woman in the world. I meant it then and I still mean it now. And your body…” He said with a smile as he ran his fingers over her belly. “You carried a child. Our child. Your body is amazing.” Violet’s lips slowly curled into a smile. “You’re still so cheesy.” Simon laughed softly and shrugged. “Some things never change.” Violet adjusted herself so she was straddling Simon’s waist and wrapped her arms around his neck as she kissed him deeply.
As Simon ran his hands over Violet’s exposed skin, she reached down and unbuttoned Simon’s jeans. It was something she’d done dozens of times. It felt so familiar and brought a little smile to her face. Once she had his jeans unbuttoned and unzipped Simon stood and gently placed Violet down on the bed. He kicked off his shoes and socks before pushing his jeans down. Seeing Simon like this again was unreal. He still looked so good. Violet bit her bottom lip as she felt a rush of excitement pulse through her. She squeezed her legs together and moaned softly. That moan was music to Simon’s ears. Violet kicked off her shoes and stood. Simon reached out and unbuttoned her jeans before pushing them down her hips. As soon as Violet’s jeans were off Simon lifted her and wrapped her legs around his waist, kissing her and holding her close as he walked towards the top of the bed. He turned and sat on the edge with Violet once again straddling his waist. He started to kiss along her jaw and down her neck to her chest. Violet reached behind her and unclasped her bra. Simon pulled her bra off and threw it across the room before placing soft kisses over Violet’s breasts. He leaned down and flicked his tongue over her left nipple, causing her to arch her back and grind her hips down against Simon’s. He made a mental that she still enjoyed that. Simon only got a few more flicks in before Violet started to reach into his underwear. “Please, Simon, I need you.” She panted softly.
Simon placed his hands on either side of Violet’s face before leaning in and kissing her deeply. She wrapped her hands around his wrists before moving off of his lap and laying on her back on the bed. Simon kneeled over her and hooked two fingers through the waistband of her panties and pulled them down. Seeing Violet naked again after all this time was surreal. “How could she ever doubt how beautiful she is?” Simon thought to himself. Violet blushed a bit when she notice Simon staring at her. She sat up and pressed a few soft kisses along his toned stomach as she pushed his underwear down, his hardened cock finally springing free. Violet immediately wrapped her hand around Simon’s thick member and pumped her fist slowly a few times. Simon moaned softly and pushed Violet down onto her back once more. Just as he was about to get into position between her legs, he realized something. “Fuck.” “What is it?” Violet asked. Simon sighed heavily. “I don’t have any condoms.” Violet bit her bottom lip. “It’s ok. I have an IUD.” “What about…ya know, other stuff?” He asked. Violet sat up again and placed her hands on Simon’s shoulders. “I trust you. Do you trust me?” Simon nodded. “Of course I do.” “Then I’m good.” “Me too.” Violet kissed Simon and wrapped her arms around his neck, bringing him down on top of her as she laid back.
Simon pressed his tip to her entrance, groaning when he felt how wet she was. “Are you ready for me?” Violet whimpered softly and nodded. “God, yes.” Simon reached down and wrapped a hand around his dick as he guided himself into Violet’s tight heat. The feeling was more intense than he could’ve imagined. It was familiar but overwhelming because he never thought he’d be with her like this again. As Simon entered Violet, her eyes rolled back and she gasped softly. She’d forgotten how good Simon felt inside her. Simon stilled his hips once he was completely inside Violet and pressed his forehead against hers. She placed hand in the back of Simon’s neck and gently threaded her fingers in his hair. After a moment Simon started to slowly thrust his hips. Violet licked her lips and moaned as Simon thrusted into her. “Oh god…” Violet breathed out as she hooked her feet around Simon’s thighs. Simon moaned as he started to thrust faster. He leaned down and kissed Violet passionately, slipping his tongue past her lips. Violet whimpered and dug her nails into Simon’s back. “Faster.” She begged softly. Simon started to thrust his hips faster, pushing himself up on his forearms so he could angle his hips better.
Violet let out a high pitched moan as Simon’s cock began hitting her g spot. “Right there, baby. Fuck, don’t stop.” Simon groaned and hooked his left arm under Violet’s right leg and lifted it up so he could thrust even deeper. Violet’s entire body was trembling with pleasure. She hadn’t felt this good in years. Simon began thrusting faster and harder still keeping his hips angled to hit Violet’s spot. Simon could feel his release getting closer. He reached down and used two fingers to start quickly circling Violet’s swollen clit, causing her to whimper loudly. He grunted as he thrusted into Violet. “Fuck, I’m so close, baby.” He moaned. Violet leaned up and started to kiss along Simon’s jaw. She took his earlobe between her teeth and tugged gently. She remembered that he used to like it and based on the sound he made when she did it, he still liked it. “I’m so close…don’t stop…” She moaned into his ear. Simon’s thrusting became erratic. He held on as long as he could. Two more hard, deep thrusts pushed Violet over the edge. Her walls clenched around Simon’s member as a powerful orgasm caused her whole body to spasm. Seconds later Simon came inside Violet, groaning loudly as he filled her with his release.
The pair laid there for a few moments, their limbs tangled and beads of sweat covering their bodies as they both panted heavily. Once Simon finally regained his composure he slowly slipped out of Violet and laid next to her. She rolled out of the bed and headed to the bathroom to clean herself up. She returned a few minutes later, smiling when she saw Simon laying on his back, one arm behind his head as the bedsheets barely covered his lower half. She was overwhelmed with deja vu seeing him like that. She walked over and climbed into the bed, covering herself with the sheet. Simon turned on his side and wrapped his arms around Violet, pulling her close. He tucked some hair behind her ear before leaning in to kiss her sweetly. Violet melted into it. As she laid there she had a realization. In the last six years, Violet had one serious relationship and plenty of opportunities for others, but they never worked out. She couldn’t quite figure out why before but now she knew. It’s because none of them were him. No matter how much she may not have wanted to admit it, Simon was her one true soulmate. Now that he was here she couldn’t let him go again. Almost as if he read her mind, Simon kissed Violet’s forehead and smiled. “You know that I’m yours, right? You have me forever.” Violet smiled and nodded. “I know.” As they cuddled and slowly drifted off to sleep, Violet had one last thought. She wasn’t entirely sure how all of this was going to work out, but she did know that this time she wasn’t going to give up without a fight.

Emily had been spending almost everyday at Simon’s house. Simon definitely wasn’t complaining. It was nice having someone to come home to. He was a little worried about her. She was having trouble trying to get her job at the clinic back. She’d spent hours on the phone with a woman name Monica who was handling her case but it was going nowhere fast and it was really wearing down Emily’s spirit. Hopefully things would get better. Simon texted Emily when he was on his way home from the club. He decided to stop on his way and get Chinese food for dinner. When he got home, Emily was sitting on the couch with her head in her hands. “Shit.” Simon thought to himself. He set the food down on the coffee table and sat down next Emily, rubbing her back soothingly. “What’s going on, babe?” He asked softly. Emily let out a deep sigh and ran her fingers through her hair. “It’s over.”
Simon furrowed his brows. “What do you mean?” Emily shook his head. “I just got off the phone with Monica. There’s nothing she can do. It’s my word against Dr. Bennett’s and there’s no security camera footage. The cameras conveniently weren’t working for a few hours the day I got fired so there’s no proof that I didn’t do anything wrong. Monica said even if she could get me my job back I’d have a target on my back. Dr. Bennett would look for any little fuck up to fire me again.” “Didn’t she interview your coworkers?” Emily nodded. “And they all vouched for me. Amanda even said that she knew that Dr. Bennett was reaching out to other clinics and telling them not to hire me. Which Monica did say she can get her to stop doing because it’s illegal. So at least I have a shot of getting a job at another clinic. But the closest clinic to here that’s hiring is almost an hour away.”
Simon sighed softly. “Listen. I know that this is a really shitty situation but why don’t we do this…let’s put this aside for right now. It’s Friday. Let’s take the weekend and just hang out just the two of us. Then starting on Monday apply for jobs. But take this time to relax and unwind, ok?” Emily smiled softly and nodded. “Ok.” Simon reached into the bag of food and pulled out a container, handing it to Emily. “Here. I got you your favorite.” Emily took the container and a pair of chopsticks before leaning over to kiss Simon’s cheek. “Thank you, baby.” She opened the container and leaned back against the couch as she ate. “So tell me about your day. Help me keep my mind off of things.” Simon nodded as he swallowed his first bite of food. “Alright.” He told Emily about his day as they ate. After they finished eating Simon got rid of their trash and sat back down with Emily so they could watch TV. After a few hours Emily yawned and stretched a bit. “Mm, are you sleepy?” Simon checked the time and nodded. “Yeah, actually I am.” They headed up to bed. Simon stripped down to his underwear. Emily stripped naked before pulling on a sleep shirt and climbing into bed. She cuddled up to Simon who wrapped his arms around her and kissed her forehead. “Do you have to work tomorrow?” She asked softly. “I have to go in for a couple of hours in the morning but then I’m all yours the rest of the day?” Emily grinned. “Mm, good.” She kissed Simon’s cheek. “Love you.” “Love you too. Goodnight, sweetheart.”
Around 8AM the next morning Simon awoke and slowly got out of bed, making sure not to wake Emily. He quietly got dressed before heading out to work. Luckily he finished up quicker than expected so he stopped on his way home to get himself and Emily breakfast. While he was driving home he thought about something one of his front of house managers said this morning. One of the waitresses who was out on maternity had said she decided not to come back. On top of that a couple of other waiters left for other jobs. They’d been making do with the waitresses that were left but the club was getting busier and busier and the wait staff was getting burnt out. Simon had to do something so he decided to have a job fair within the next couple of weeks. He was going to call all the managers together to organize it when he went back in on Monday. When he got home Emily was just waking up. Her hair was a mess and it made Simon laugh a little. He held up a bag from Chik-fil-a and Emily smiled sleepily. “Chicken biscuits?” Simon nodded and kicked his shoes off before climbing into bed so they could eat.
When Simon finished eating he turned to Emily. “So I had an idea I wanted to run by you.” Emily looked over at him “What’s up?” “Well we’ve been a little short staffed lately with a few of the wait staff leaving. I was planning on organizing a job fair with the managers. But is that something you’d be interested in doing?” Emily quirked an eyebrow. “What? Being a waitress?” Simon nodded. “I don’t know. I’ve never considered it before.” “It’d be a lot of hard and I can’t give you special treatment obviously. You’d be paid the same as everyone else and you’d have to work some crappy shifts. But I was thinking since you mentioned that you wanna go back to school so you can become a vet, maybe working an unconventional schedule would be better. Plus you’re attractive so I’m sure you’d clean up in tips.” Simon said with a smirk. Emily laughed softly. “Can I think about it?” “Yes, definitely. By no means am I telling you that you have to take it. I was just floating it out there as an option.” Emily smiled. “Well thank you for looking out for me.”
The weekend flew by pretty quickly which made Emily sad. She was having a really good time with Simon. They went to the park, saw a movie, had dinner at new Italian restaurant in town, and had romantic bubble bath. It was really a perfect weekend. Sunday night rolled around and they were laying naked in bed just staring up at the ceiling while they caught their breath. Emily placed her hand on Simon’s chest and pushed herself up a bit. “I wanna do it.” She said. Simon looked over at her. “Do what?” “Work at the club. I thought about it and you’re right. I wanna go back to school and finish getting my degree so I can become a vet. I was never gonna be able to do that working at the clinic. This could be really good for me.” Simon smiled and leaned over to kiss Emily softly. “That’s great. You’re not doing this to make me happy, right?” Emily shook her head. “No. I’m doing this for me.” “Wonderful. I have to leave here tomorrow around 9AM. Why don’t you come by the club around noon and I’ll help you fill out all the paperwork.” “Ok.” Emily kissed Simon before placing her head on his chest and quickly falling asleep.
The next morning Simon headed to the club. He grabbed Chris who was one of the managers and pulled him aside. “Hey so I just wanted to let you know that Emily is gonna take one of the waitressing positions. She’s coming in later to fill out the paperwork.” Chris nodded. “Ok. I thought she was working at an animal hospital?” Simon nodded. “She was. But she wants to go back to school and get her degree so she can become a vet herself. She couldn’t do that working the hours she worked there. It’ll be easier for her to go back to school while working here since it’s a little more flexible.” Chris nodded and smiled. “Alright, great. What’s her training schedule gonna be?” Simon shrugged. “You’re gonna be her manager so whatever you think is best.” Chris looked a bit confused. “Oh. I’m sorry. I just assumed that you would be, like, involved.” Simon shook his head. “She doesn’t want any special treatment and I don’t want to look like I’m giving her special treatment. So scheduling and all of that will be up to you just like it would be with anyone else.” Chris nodded. “Alright, sounds good.”
Simon headed back to his office to work on some things while he waited for Emily. A little before noon Emily entered the club. She smiled at the hostess before heading back to Simon’s office. She knocked on the door before gently pushing the door open. “Hey, handsome.” Simon smiled when he saw her standing there. He stood and walked around to Emily and leaned down to kiss her. “Hey, beautiful.” Simon went to a filing cabinet and pulled out some papers before motioning for Emily to sit at his desk. “Here. This is all the standard paperwork. Chris is gonna be your manager. He’s gonna set up your training schedule. He’ll probably have you start next Sunday since Sundays are our slowest day. It’ll be easier to train you. But it’s not rocket science. I’m sure you’ll pick up on everything pretty quickly.” Emily say down and started to fill out the paperwork in front of her. Simon opened his office door and called out for Chris. “Can you grab Emily some shirts and a couple of aprons?” “Sure thing, boss man.”
Just as Chris walked away, a young woman, probably around Emily’s age walked up to Simon. “Si, we need to talk. I can’t keep working these morning shifts. Do you know how many people sit at the bar before 2PM? Not many. I’m making like no tips. It isn’t fair!” Simon sighed softly. “Tony is your manager, Sheila, you need to talk to him.” “I did.” “What did he say?” “He said that I’m on probation still.” Simon nodded. “Well then there’s your answer.” “It’s not fair, Simon! It feels like I’m being punished.” Simon was clearly annoyed. He raised his voice a bit and spoke more forcefully. “Probation is a punishment, Sheila. You stole from the till. You’re lucky I didn’t fire your ass. Now quit complaining and get back to work or leave. Those are your options.” “This is bullshit.” The woman mumbled before walking off. Seeing Simon put his foot down was kind of a turn on for Emily. She’d never seen get worked up like that before. She bit her lip as she crossed her legs and continued filling out her paperwork.
Just as Simon was about to shut the door, Chris came back and handed him a few shirts and a couple of aprons for Emily. “Thanks, Chris.” He nodded and waved at Emily. “Hey, Emily.” She smiled and waved back. “Hey, Chris.” “Listen I’ll have your training schedule ready later this week. I’ll call you to let you know when your first day. is that ok?” Emily nodded. “That sounds great, thank you.” Chris turned and headed back out to the front. Simon shut the office door and Emily finished up her paperwork. Simon placed the stack of clothing on his desk and sighed. “I’m sorry you had to see that exchange with Sheila.” Emily shook her head and stood as she walked around the front of the desk. “Don’t be. Seeing you get all authoritative and shit was kinda sexy.” Simon smirked. “Authoritative and shit? Is that the technical term?” Emily laughed softly. “Yeah it is, asshole.” Simon laughed as he leaned down to kiss Emily. She kissed him deeply as she ran her hands down his chest and down over his crotch. Simon pulled back a bit. “What are you doing?” He said, sounding concerned. Emily walked over and locked Simon’s office door. “What? You’ve never had sex in here before?” She asked as she started to slowly unbutton Simon’s shirt.
Simon swallowed and licked his lips. “No I haven’t. And as much as I want to I don’t have any condoms in here.” Emily started to kiss along Simon’s chest. “I guess you better make sure you don’t cum inside me then.” Simon groaned and pushed Emily back against the wall and kissed her passionately as he ran his hands down her back and grabbed her ass, giving it a firm squeeze. Emily whimpered against Simon’s lips. As they deepened the kiss, Emily kicked off her shoes and quickly pushed her jeans down before starting to work on Simon’s pants. As soon as Simon’s pants and underwear were down, Emily started to stroke Simon’s member. He moaned softly as he pushed Emily’s panties down. “We have to be quiet.” He said softly. Emily nodded. “I know.” Simon leaned down and put his hands behind Emily’s knees before lifting her up and wrapping her legs around his waist. He pressed his member to entrance for a moment before slowly pushing into her. Emily’s eyes rolled back. Feeling Simon inside her without a condom on was such an incredible feeling. She bit her lip as she adjusted herself a bit and wrapped her arms around Simon’s neck.
After a moment Simon started to thrust slowly. This was the first time they were having sex without a condom and Simon had thought that sex with Emily couldn’t get any better until now. After taking things slow for a few moments Simon sped up his thrusts. This was a new position for Emily and it felt amazing. She was biting her lip hard to keep her moans to a minimum but it was hard. Both because it felt so good and because she usually very vocal in bed. Simon wasn’t helping things either. He pressed his lips to Emily’s ear. “Does that feel good, baby? You like having me cock deep inside your tight pussy?” He practically growled in her ear. Emily whimpered and nodded. “Fuck yeah. I love it, baby. I love it so much.” Simon started to thrust faster and harder. He could feel himself starting to get close. Emily had her face buried in Simon’s neck in an effort to quiet herself. Simon held Emily’s hips as he thrust even harder. “Fuck, I’m close…I’m gonna cum, baby.” He moaned before pulling out of Emily. She unhooked her legs and quickly dropped to her knees, taking the head of Simon’s cock in her mouth and stroking his member a few times before he came, thrusting his hips into her mouth a bit as he did. Simon panted as he looked down at Emily. She swallowed Simon’s load before making a show of licking her lips. Simon groaned softly.
She stood and leaned up to kiss Simon. “Your turn.” She said before sitting in his chair and spreading her legs, draping them over the arms of the chair. Simon immediately dropped to his knees and began flicking his tongue over Emily’s clit. She threaded her fingers through Simon’s hair and placed her free hand over her mouth to keep herself quiet. In no time Emily’s thighs were trembling. She’d been close already and Simon was so good at this, he knew exactly what she liked and how to get her over the edge quickly. Simon began to suck Emily’s clit and that was the last push she needed. She bit the palm of her hand as she arched her back and came. Simon looked up at her and smirked. “Damn, that was hot.” Emily panted softly and grinned. She sat up and leaned down to kiss Simon deeply. Simon stood and pulled his pants back on while Emily did the same. Once they were redressed Emily walked over to Simon and kissed him softly. “See you at home, boss.” She said with a grin. Simon smirked and shook his head. “You’re having too much fun with this already.” “I always have fun.” She winked before leaving the office. Simon sat at his desk and smirked. He was gonna think of Emily every time he sat in this chair and he was perfectly ok with that.

Notes: Ya know, I’m going to stop apologizing for taking so long to get these chapters posted. I’ve come to terms with the fact that I’m having trouble writing this story. It’s not that I don’t want to, not at all. I had an ending in mind for this story before I even began writing it. But I was unemployed when I first started writing it so my time is more limited. But I promise that I will not abandon this story. It will get finished! Thank you to all of those who have stuck with it so far.
Song for this Chapter: “Cats in the Cradle” by Harry Chapin (Playlist Here!)
Violet was sitting on the front porch of her condo enjoying a cold beer while Dodger played with his friend Jeremy from across the street. While she sat there, her mind raced. Just two days ago her life was so wildly different. She’d mostly moved on from her feelings for Simon. But seeing him again brought back everything she’d felt before. She obviously couldn’t completely forget Simon. She was reminded of him every time she looked at Dodger. She had always taught her son that lying was wrong yet she had been lying to him every time he asked her about his father. Violet set her beer down on the small table next to her and pulled out her phone. She opened her messages and looked at the last few messages from Simon. It was weird seeing his name in her phone again.
Simon: Can I see him?
Violet: What?
Simon: Dodger. Can I see him? Meet him?
Violet: I don’t know, Simon. I’m afraid this will be too much for him.
Simon: I know, Vi. But he is my son. I would like to meet him and be in his life.
Violet: I need to talk to him first. Give me a couple of days.
Violet sighed. That conversation had happened Friday night. It was now Sunday and Violet still hadn’t talked to Dodger. She needed to stop putting it off. Even though she was worried that he wouldn’t understand everything completely, she also knew that he was a very smart boy and that having his father in his life would be good for him. Violet quickly finished her beer before standing from her chair. “Alright, munchkin. It’s time to come inside. Say goodnight to Jeremy.” Dodger complained but said goodnight to his friend and walked up the front steps. Violet watched to make sure Jeremy got home ok. Once the other boy was inside his house, Violet took Dodger inside and shut and locked the front door. She took a deep breath before taking him to the living room and sitting down on the couch. “Alright, dude. We need to have a talk. Come here.” She said as she patted the cushion next to her. Dodger climbed onto the sofa. “An adult talk?” He asked. Violet nodded.
“Do you remember a few months ago when some of your classmates had their daddies come in to talk about their jobs and that mean boy in your class made fun of you when you said you didn’t have a daddy?” Dodger nodded slowly. “And do you remember what you asked me when you got home from school that day?” Dodger nodded again. “I asked you if I had a daddy and you told me that everyone has a daddy but that you didn’t know who my daddy was.” Violet nodded. “That’s right. Well when I said that I didn’t know who your daddy was…well…mommy was lying.” Dodger looked up at her. “But you said that lying is bad.” “I know, baby. I know I did. And it is. You should always tell the truth and mommy is so sorry that she lied to you.” “It’s ok, mommy. I forgive you.” Dodger moved so he could hug Violet. She wrapped her arms around him and kissed the top of his head.
Violet smiled as she held her son close. She pulled him into her lap and leaned back a bit. “I lied to you because I was scared that you wouldn’t understand. But you’re so smart, munchkin. So much smarter than I could ever imagine. The truth is I do know who your daddy is. He didn’t know about you until recently.” Dodger had a confused look on his face. “How did he not know about me? I’m his son.” Dodger sounded so hurt and it broke Violet’s heart that she did this to him. “He didn’t know about you because I didn’t tell him. But he knows about you now and he wants to meet you.” Dodger looked up at her with hopeful eyes. “He does?” Violet smiled and nodded. “But it’s up to you. This is a very adult decision. And I know that it might seem scary so I want you to take some time and think about it, ok?” Dodger nodded. “Ok, I will. Can I go up to my room now?” Violet kissed Dodger’s cheek and nodded. “Of course, baby. Go get ready for bed.”
Dodger jumped down off of Violet’s lap and ran upstairs. That had gone much better than she expected. She thought for sure Dodger would have so many questions. But she knows how smart he is. After a few minutes Violet made her way upstairs and into Dodger’s room. He was wearing his PJs and was sitting on the floor playing with some of his toys. “Alright, little man. Bed time. You have school tomorrow.” Dodger put his toys away before climbing into bed. Violet tucked him in and leaned down to kiss his forehead. “Mommy?” “Yes, baby?” “I wanna meet my dad.” Violet smiled softly. “Are you sure?” Dodger nodded. “Ok. Well I have to have an adult conversation with him too before you meet him, ok?” Dodger nodded and yawned. “Ok, mommy. Goodnight. I love you.” “I love you too, munchkin.” Violet dimmed the light in Dodger’s room and shut his bedroom door a bit before heading to her room. She flopped down on the bed and stared up at the ceiling for a few minutes before grabbing her cell phone and texting Simon.
Violet: Come to my house tomorrow at 3PM.
She put her phone on her nightstand before changing into her PJs and climbing into bed. She wanted to talk to Simon before he officially met Dodger for the first time and she wanted to do it without Dodger there. Violet reached for her phone and texted her mom to see if she could pick Dodger up from school tomorrow and watch him for a couple of hours. She didn’t even hesitate. Grandmom loved spending time with her little love bug. Once Violet had that sorted out she did her best to get some sleep. The next morning after she got Dodger dressed and made him breakfast, she told him that Grandmom would be picking him up from school. “Really?!” Dodger was excited. He loved his Grandmom and Grandpa but also knew it meant he would get to play with their dog, a Bulldog named Hank who loved Dodger too. After putting their breakfast dishes in the dishwasher, Violet grabbed Dodger’s backpack and got him on the bus. She waved goodbye to him and headed to work.
She hated having to go into work so early in but it meant she got to leave early too. She was in by 7:30AM and left at 2:30PM everyday. She was home in less than 15 minutes which would give her time to get ready for Simon’s arrival at 3PM. The entire day Violet had a hard time concentrating. All she could think about was her meeting with Simon. She was nervous about seeing him again. But she somehow made it through the day and headed home. Traffic was lighter than usual so she made it home in only ten minutes. Violet entered her home and immediately changed out of her work clothes and into a pair of jeans and an oversized t-shirt. She paced back and forth in the dining room while she waited for Simon to arrive, trying to go over in her head everything she wanted to say to him. Violet was torn from her thoughts by the doorbell ringing. She looked at the time on her phone. 3PM on the dot. Simon was still punctual it turns out. Violet walked to the front door and put her hand on the knob, taking a deep breath before opening the door.
Simon stood there with a nervous look on his face. Violet smiled softly and stepped to the side. “Come in.” She said. Simon nodded and stepped inside, standing to the side while Violet shut the door. She lead him into the living room and motioned for him to sit on the couch. “Do you want anything to drink?” Simon shook his head as he sat down. “No, I’m good. Thank you.” Violet sat on the couch opposite Simon. She took a moment to look him over. She hadn’t really gotten the chance to do that before. She was so in shock seeing him that she didn’t really take the time to look at him. His hair was in the same style as she remembered. He had a full beard now instead of just a mustache. He had a few more wrinkles around his eyes and mouth, but he was still as handsome as she remembered.
Simon blushed a bit when he noticed that Violet was looking him up and down. But he’d taken his chance to admire her as well. Before her hair had been a deep red and just past her shoulders. Now it was a lightish brown, what he assumed was her natural color, and it was down past her elbows. There were a few stray gray hairs but it suited her. Her face was a bit rounder and her body was a bit softer, but she was still drop dead gorgeous. Violet noticed Simon staring at her and she grabbed a pillow, hugging it over the front of her body. “What?” She asked softly. Simon smiled a bit and shook his head. “Motherhood looks good on you.” Violet rolled her eyes. “Wow how long have you been waiting to use that one?” Simon laughed a bit. “Oh come on. It does. I bet you were one of those women who looked great through their entire pregnancy.” Violet smiled a bit and tucked some hair behind her ear as she looked down. “I wish I could’ve been there to see it.” He continued.
Violet sighed softly. “Simon, can we not, with that, right now?” Simon nodded and leaned back against the couch. “Sorry.” Violet cleared her throat. “Dodger was in pre k last year. And towards the end of the year they asked some of the kids to invite their parents to come in and talk about their jobs. When the teacher asked Dodger if he would have his mom or dad come in he said that he would ask his mom but that he didn’t have a dad. One of the kids in his class made fun of him and told him it was weird that he didn’t have a dad. Dodger came home that day crying and told me what happened and he asked me why he didn’t have a dad like all the other kids in his class. I lied and told him it was because I didn’t know who his dad was. The truth is I was scared to tell him. Not because I thought he wouldn’t understand but because I knew there was a lot of shit I still hadn’t dealt with and I had been lying to myself even that I was ok. That everything was fine. My whole life for the past six years has been about Dodger and I truly believe that I’ve been the best mom that I possibly can be. But I would be lying if I said it’s been easy being a single mom. It’s been one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. And I don’t regret leaving when I did because at the time I thought it was the best option for me. But I do regret not being honest with you. It wasn’t fair of me to keep my pregnancy a secret from you and for that I’m sorry and I hope you can forgive me. And even if you can’t, which I would completely understand, I hope you can at least look past it for Dodger’s sake because he really wants to meet you.”
Simon took a moment to absorb everything Violet said before speaking. “I’m so sorry that Dodger had to go through that. And that you had to deal with it alone. And of course I forgive you for leaving. I was hurt, definitely, but I understand now. You were scared and you wanted to be with your family. I wasn’t your family. I did a shitty thing and I pushed you away and I’m sorry for that. I know that it’s probably gonna be a little strange but I definitely want to move it past because I really want to meet Dodger and be a part of his life.” Violet smiled softly and wiped away a few tears. “Good. That’s very good.” Simon smiled as well. “I do have one question though. When you left, was it…I mean were you just scared in general or were you scared that I wasn’t gonna be a good dad?” Violet furrowed her eyebrows. “What? Oh my god, no, of course not. I knew, and I still think this, that you’d be an excellent father. And it wasn’t so much that I was scared. I felt…lonely. I knew that at least if I was here I’d have my parents and my brothers and sisters-in-law. They’ve all been such a big help. But I still have days where I still feel really, really lonely.”
Simon could relate to what Violet was saying about being lonely. Even when he and Charlotte were still together he felt so alone. He’d thought about Violet all the time, wishing that she was there, or even that he could just talk to her. He’d thought about just calling her cell a few times over the years. But he’d felt so guilty about pushing her away. He figured she wouldn’t want anything to do with him. And he completely understood that. Simon cleared his throat and leaned up a bit. “Is Dodger here?” He asked softly. Violet shook her head. “He’s with my parents. I wanted us to have time to talk and get out everything we need to get out without having to worry about him overhearing things he maybe shouldn’t hear.” Violet explained. “And to be honest, even though he seems excited to meet you, I’m still a little hesitant.” Simon nodded. “I can understand that. I mean, is there something in particular that is causing you to be hesitant?”
Violet chewed her bottom lip. “I haven’t told him that you live on the other side of the country. I’m afraid that he’ll get too attached too quickly.” She sighed softly and ran a hand through her hair. “When Dodger was around 3, I started seeing this guy. I hadn’t been with anyone since Dodger was born so when he started showing me some affection I just lapped it up like a school girl. I rushed into a relationship with a man I barely knew and we wound up moving in together just a few months after we started dating. Dodger got really attached to him. When things inevitably went south and we broke up, Dodger didn’t understand. He was so upset, crying, screaming, throwing tantrums all the time. It was the first time Dodger had someone besides me around all the time. I know he’s gonna love you and he’s gonna get attached and then when you have to go back to New York it’s gonna crush him.” Simon nodded. That was something he’d thought about. But he thought he had a solution. “Well I have someone else looking after things back in New York right now. So I can stay here for a while. And you two can always come to New York whenever you want. Yellow House owns a plane now so I can send it to come pick you guys up. Just say the word and before you know it you two will be headed to New York in style.”
Violet smiled softly. “That’s a very generous offer, Simon.” Simon scratched his beard. “Why do I feel like there’s a ‘but’ coming?” Violet chewed her bottom lip. “No ‘but.’ It is a generous offer.” Simon smiled and nodded. “So when can I meet him?” “Maybe this weekend? I just think that this is going to be a lot for him. I want him to be able to concentrate in school. Why don’t we do this. Come over for dinner on Friday, let’s say around 6PM? And then after you and Dodger can hang out here.” Simon nodded. “Ok, sounds like a plan.” Violet checked the time on her phone. “I have to go pick up Dodger from my parent’s house before it gets too late.” Simon nodded and stood. Violet slipped her shoes on and walked with him to the front door. They stepped onto the porch and Violet locked the front door before Simon walked her to her car. “So I guess I’ll see you Friday then.” He said softly. Violet nodded and smiled softly. “Yeah. I know that Dodger is gonna be really excited.” Simon slipped his hands into his pockets. “It’s been really good seeing you again, Violet.” He leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to Violet’s cheek. She was clearly taken by surprise. “Good night, Simon.” She said before getting into her car. She watched as Simon crossed the street and got into his car and drove away. Violet groaned and leaned forward, gently banging her forehead against the steering wheel a few times. She knew she had to go through with this for Dodger’s sake, but deep down she knew that this was not going to end well for her and Simon.
