6. most hated song in your native language? ohhhhh my god karaoke machines you can rent out for special occasions are a serious party thing here, and my neighbors really love to sing. for the sole reason that they have the thing on blast from 7 in the morning until midnight and this one kid belts out to this song in particular repeatedly- i hate it
11. favourite native writer/poet? there’s a special place in my heart for Nick Joaquin’s essays. and one of my favorite Tagalog novels is Andres Cristobal Cruz’s Ang Tundo Man May Langit Din (Even Tundo Has A Heaven)
15. a saying, joke, or hermetic meme that only people from your country will get? with Tagalog memes, i find it’s completely normal to just pepper tangina (roughly, “fuck”) everywhere. AND YELLING THE WHOLE MESSAGE. very acceptable. i think it’s because we’re generally a very emotional people lol
