🌄 Discover the Newly Updated Simon’s Seat Walk in the Yorkshire Dales
📝 I’m excited to share that I’ve just updated and completely rewritten my version of the Simon’s Seat walk, one of Wharfedale’s most scenic routes. This refreshed guide is now available on my website, offering a more detailed and enriched experience for all walkers.
🚶♂️ The Simon’s Seat walk is an 11-mile circular route that takes you through the stunning landscapes of Barden Fell and the Valley of Desolation. Along the way, you’ll encounter some of the most breathtaking views the Yorkshire Dales has to offer.
🪨 One of the highlights of this walk is Lord’s Seat, an impressive collection of gritstone boulders perched on the edge of Barden Fell. The route then leads you to Simon’s Seat, where you’ll be rewarded with sweeping vistas of Wharfedale, making it an ideal spot to pause for a rest and enjoy your lunch.
🌲 As you continue, the walk guides you through the tranquil Valley of Desolation. Despite its name, the valley is a place of natural beauty, featuring a cascading waterfall and serene woodland paths. The final stretch follows the River Wharfe along the Dales Way, where you can enjoy the peaceful riverside scenery and perhaps explore the historic Bolton Priory.
📸 This updated guide includes detailed directions, photographs, and links to OS Maps and Outdooractive, allowing you to view, download, or print the route before you set off.
🚫 Please note that parts of the walk are on permissive paths, and there is a no-dogs policy on the Bolton Abbey Estate.
