SimulView May Be The End of Splitscreen Gaming
Wow, I'm amazed. The gaming industry continues to amaze me. While I'm not certain of the details surrounding the growth in the video game industry, I know that this SimulView thing from Sony Playstation is a game changer.
Using a 3D display, the TV/Playstation can filter a single screen and offer a different viewing experience to two people on one TV. It's amazingly inventive and definitely a game changer - now if only there was a way to take the glasses out of the equation, we'd have a winner!
Read more about SimulView at Sony and take a look at how it has the potential to render splitscreen gaming obsolete. No more getting confused which side to look at, no more screen peeking, no more sharing!
Holy shit! This exists?

Playstation 3D Display Review
[By AJ DeMarco]
The Playstation 3D Display is a great investment for a small space. It packs some great features into a small unit with a reasonable price tag ($499). 3D, 1080p, 240Hz, and SimulView, all make this display a must have for any Playstation 3 owner looking for a small dedicated gaming screen.
It displays full 1080p at 240Hz and does it well. There is no visible ghosting and input lag is indistinguishable, making it good choice for semi-competitive gaming. Images are bright and vivid (unless used in direct sunlight) and the menu system is simple. Negative points include the lack of inputs and remote control. With only 2 HDMI, 1 Component, and an audio out, this display will have a hard time connecting to all your devices. That being said, it can handle a PS3, digital cable box, and a computer with ease. As you can see from the unboxing, the buttons are in a rather strange spot. Also, while using all 3 inputs, your wires will hang directly above the display's controls, making it even more difficult to manipulate the buttons.
The killer feature of this display is something that Sony is calling “SimulView Technology” which basically means when 2 people are wearing the 3D glasses, certain multiplayer split screen games can be viewed independently by each person. So if, for example, I am playing Killzone 3 with a friend, I get a full screen and they get a full screen. It’s very cool and works exactly as advertised. Its kind of hard to explain so check out Sony’s product page for a proper demonstration. Overall, this display is a great investment for someone looking to game exclusively with a PS3 on it. Obviously Xbox will not be supporting the SimulView Technology any time soon and if you can wait a year or two, Sony will likely introduce this feature into larger displays and TVs. If you cant wait that long, then you will not be disappointed with this display. Pros - Great for small spaces like dorm rooms or apartments - Picture quality is fantastic - Speakers sound better than most 24” displays - It’s 3D!! Cons - Very reflective screen - To small for a larger space - No remote - Lack of inputs Overall Score 8/10
