Brew #255: Torc Brewing Sour Porter (Single Batch Brew)

ABV: 6%

Served: Cold (taken from the fridge and allowed sit for a time)

Aroma: Coffee, toffee

Pour: Coal black with frothy beige head

Taste: Fairly weak porter flavours undercut with a light tart bite but no real sourness. A bit betwixt and between really, pleasant but not strong enough in flavours which is disappointing given the quality of their single batch ales.

Brew #254: Torc Brewing Smoked German Ale (Single Batch Brew)

ABV: 6%

Served: From the fridge

Aroma: Malt, smoked ham, honey

Pour: Cola black with frothy tan head bubbling down to a skim

Taste: Another Torc single batch with high fizz whizzbanging mouthfeels. Lovely hazed smokiness at the front with sticky malt caramel washing in behind it. Hints of coffee and roast nuts with the smoke reprising on the aftertaste. Very like a porter, this is not a bad thing - lovely.

Brew #253: Torc Brewing Grodziskie (Single Batch Brew)

ABV: 4%

Served: From the fridge

Aroma: Blacky ham, Gouda

Pour: Opaque pale yellow with large frothy white head

Taste: Given the depth of aroma the flavour is really light and crisp with that smoky malt upfront. It’s all in the froth, the smokiness, with traditional wheat beer grass and light lemon coming in underneath and then a medium dry bite to finish. It’s a lovely marriage of summery, smoky food and thirst quenching fizzy beer. Strong carbonation and an aftertaste of Gouda cheese, lovely sups right here.

Notes: 500ml bottle, dry smoked wheat malt, sediment in bottle.
