just need to make some points clear because I see awful articles about FW
basgiath is a bad school
they promote the wrong ideals and that is proven by violet (the MAIN CHARACTER) consistently across all three books. also it's especially obvious in IF with the fliers who point out IN CANON that basgiath isn't a good school
and whilst we're at it
navarre are baddies in the story
yes the venin are the big bad but navarre is a bad country and the whole revolution was about leaving navarre because they are in the wrong. navarre leadership (both military and royalty) are bad and dangerous and the series would be incomplete if it ends with them all pretending like 600 years of oppression, lies, and cruelty hasn't happened. come on people, navarre is at major fault for the state of the continent in the series timeline
so @bees-with-swords and @spacelimeblood got me to read IDW’s Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye. I want to make it utterly clear that i did not give a singular shit about transformers before reading this comic. Now, it is all I can think about and I will be sick in the head. You have been warned.
if bodhi is venin and turned for any reason that isn't noble or self sacrificing (aka he turned for power or is evil), then i don't know what i will do
i picked bodhi as my favourite in May 2024. he became a comfort character, and when i wrote him i poured my heart into him. he's in every single one of my fics, and he's the main character of my long fic, like daylight, which I'm really proud of.
in many other people's writing, he's much more of a side or background character, often pushed aside in favour of Xaden’s relationships with garrick or liam. and that’s not an issue for me, i will write bodhi as the main character. he's never been a fan favourite, and most of his love comes from fanfiction.
but now with the general fandom consenus being that bodhi is venin, people aren't gonna be reading my bodhi fics as much, and i probably wont get many (if any) new readers. it is already so disheartening sometimes to not get that many hits or kudos or comments on things you've poured so much into and i fear it's only gonna feel worse in the future.
i know I'm not the most popular, or the best writer in the fandom. I know i don't write the most popular ships. Ive accepted that I'll never be one of the big authors whose fics get recced everywhere, who get hundreds and hundreds of kudos and tens of thousands of hits. I'm not that good. I'm one of the youngest people in this fandom and i am inexperienced at writing compared to a lot of people and i know that.
but knowing that my comfort character, who appears in so many of my fics, is pretty much public enemy no. 1 for the post OS fic writers is really knocking my confidence rn. and it makes me ask myself if i picked the wrong character to look for myself in
so if I'm not reading fics or engaging with content much, this whole rant is probably the reason
Who needs armor when you have a smokin hot gf? The KPDH art book had me thinking about neon backgrounds, so I drew Lucien and (kinda) Fel, who turns into smoke.
as a writer, the normalisation of ai terrifies me. my uni coursemates regularly use chatgpt to help write their essays and answer the maths questions. my laptop suggest for me to rewrite using ai when i copy something into my notepad. google shoves its ai in my face when i try to search anything. the amount of ai FW art out there is larger than to amount of art that people have genuinely put time and effort into. tiktok is full of ai audios from books and ai art.
if you can't produce art without using ai, that is fine! i'm not an artist either. but there are so many other ways you can appreciate things with using ai, like reading, writing, coming up with theories and headcanons, making moodboards, talking to people in the fandom.
there are ways to use ai in your work, but only as a tool like how you would use a dictionary or a thesaurus. it shouldn't be the bulk of the work
