Some seal mermaid concepts starring siren Wolfwood, because seal mermaids have been in my mind ever since I saw this haunting video of a singing leopard seal, and it's mermay.
They have seal vocal apparatus, so they can't speak like humans, and communicate through a variety os seal noises. There's the beautiful singing, mostly for underwater, but also less flattering wah's, puh's, and some dinosaur noises too. Most can't talk to humans, but some can, through sign language, after the efforts in the past decades to build communication with sirens. Woowoo and Livio are examples of it. Vash is a researcher and is working with them to create translation tool that can replicate their language.

yes of course! i wish i had a snippet to share but it’s mostly vibes at this point (aka i started playing hades ii and trying to befriend odysseus at the same time i was really getting into jendo, and then scrawled some ideas in a doc about it)
The super high-level idea is: Lando gets cursed by the gods and turned into a sea nymph/siren type creature. Jenson is an odysseus-like character who gets stranded on a small, seemingly uninhabited island. They fall in love despite some petty nonsense from the gods (and Jenson’s crew finding him and dragging him off the island because they think he’s bewitched), and in the end Aphrodite removes the curse on Lando and they live happily ever after.
(Really I’d like to play around with the absurdity of the Greek gods and how, in so many stories, mortals end up suffering because of the tiniest slights. And like, living life in spite of these giant, inexplicable cosmic forces. Or that’s the idea at least. The specifics are still…..quite murky.)
