His mother, Tallulah, & her mother before her, spent their lives cultivating the correct mates for each and every one of their kind on the island. No creature dared defy the siren leader by mating without permission.

As he grew, Zale spent more & more time away from home. As soon as he could build a raft, he was gone. He found a small island away from his parents & made it his own. Morrow helped build a small shelter that, as time went on, evolved into an actual home. It was his sanctuary.

Morrow knew from the start that she was it for him.

He felt his siren blood pulling him uncontrollably to her, as if she were the missing chorus to his unfinished song. He would have waited a thousand lifetimes for her, & during those early days, it felt as if he would have to.

They spent months together, traveling & learning about the other, creating a bond that neither had expected to form. The spellcaster helped Morrow learn to control the siren song, & in turn he helped the blonde one make his first true friend.

Zale Van Amstel was born into Sulani royalty, but he was not the chosen son.

Morrow's solution to the siren problem was to leave, to escape from a mother who wanted to control him.

But Kira changed all of that, she would never be safe as long as siren's reigned.

So he contacted Morgyn, & underwent the transmutation ceremony.

It nearly killed him.

Kira & Hedy, so alike, retreated into themselves with their grief.

Kira lost her cheerfulness & warmth, became gloomy & cold as she shut the world out to protect her shattered heart.

& to the outside world, it appeared Hedy felt nothing for the loss of her father.
