Frayed Wires and Empty Emotions // John & Sherlock
Program J0H4hS began to boot up and in that moment he gained consciousness, his eye lids fluttering awake to the regular sight of the ceiling. The programs began to boot up and coding process as each of his senses activated. Slowly his chest rose as his ‘lungs’ inflated, experimentally taking in a deep breath, checking respiratory off his routine list. Next would be his motions as usual, moving to sit up slowly and stretch his legs slowly out in front of himself. Program J0H4hS held his hand out in front of his face, fingers clenching into a fist before releasing and spreading before his eyes, checking motions off his list. Standing up he reached down to adjust his grey pants, adjusting them correctly, and for a brief moment let his lips curl into a smile. Sherlock, his creator, had given them to him as a gift to cover up his anatomically correct parts, a gift of modesty. The next gift that he had been graciously given was his name, John, which was something he was beyond grateful for, simply happy to be more than lines upon lines of coding.
John’s eyes found the window across the room and started towards it, his motions flawless, looking incredibly human as he walked. The only thing which gave away the fact he was an android was the three large, heavy cables plugged into sensitive slots in his back, his power source. The rain had lightened up compared to the last few days but it still diagonally trickled against the glass. John lifted his hand to press against the glass, the cold causing a shiver to run through his sensors. Was that really a shiver? It was still dim outside but that was always how it was when he awoke. Right on time he began to hear the sound of footsteps walking up the stairwell, reaching the top and in no time John was listening to the sound of three dead bolts, one at a time, being released. It was for his own protection. That was what he was told at least and his creator knew everything. Well, not everything, John had plenty of knowledge, having spent much of his time buried in sources of information. His favorite topic lately had been astronomy and the solar system.
John’s eyes remained looking below at the black circles swarming below on the rainy street.
“Good morning Sherlock, did you manage to sleep last night?”
