barbie! while i love it and appreciate it for what it is, it was a little heavy to see during a depressive episode lol. as a "baby's first feminism" movie i think it's maybe a bit too on the nose? and you need to be familiar with several concepts to understand some points, which for a foreign audience is even harder when global feminism is filled with english loan words that have varying definitions.
the girl sasha bothered me. like okay i can understand the narrative arc of being a twitter feminist teenager and being depressed and angry about everything because you feel so powerless otherwise that it circles back to internalized misogyny and then experiencing joy in the feminine and it heals you a little. but the healing happened so far in the background that you could easily miss it and for a character whose entrance is like a slap in the face i'd love a little balance. also it was unclear to me - did the mom just straight up have like suicidal thoughts or
