  Nothing excited this mermaid more than a person reacting to her!  She cooed curiously as she poked her head over the dock, to look at this strange creature; a two leg... but with a box for a head?  Wow....

  “Rrr?”

  She furrowed her brows and pointed to him, tilting her head as if she was asking who he was.  What a strange mermaid... can’t she tell she spooked him?

“I’m Mistah King Dice!  My style is oh-so trend! I never play nice! Which is why I don’t have friends!” Cuphead mocked, not realizing the dice man was right behind him.

I’ve been to plenty of casinos in the past, and it seems like they’re a hotspot for special little gems that are super important for me and my friend’s endeavors to save the world whenever it’s in trouble! I hope it’s no bother, but have you seen anything that looks like a shiny diamond? Pretty big, much bigger and more evenly-cut than your regular gemstone.” 

     In-between words, a small radar was pulled out, and equally-sized blips sounded out every second or so. “Perhaps any machines in the place that’ve gone a little haywire for no explainable reason? The Chaos Emeralds’ large pool of power tends to do that to any sort of device not specifically devised for using its energy.”

She felt bad for him. She really did. She may not be on shift tonight, but she had been waiting for Cupsy to get off work so that they could hang out. But it appears that Cuphead would be taking a day or two off work, so she had plenty of time with him. Right now, it looked like Dice--the sweet marshmallow he’s come to be--needed her.

So, when he accepted her invitation, she walked with him to a more quiet place, away from the customers and away from the staff. They ended up in one of the empty lounge areas before she sat him down.

“I’m here for ya, Mistah Dice. Talk t’ me.”

No point in talking proper when she wasn’t on the clock.
