1 week ago, I got to take a stage for this last time with these bunch of Super dancers! Words has been said, feelings are expressed and energy is shared. I'm truly blessed to be go out with a bang. Growing up, the first performance I ever watched was the first TBG in 2006! I rmb we had to sit on the floor and got to learn some moves before the show started. At that time, I always held TBG to my highest regards and was one of my dreams to be on this stage. To be selected to perform on this stage back in NRA was such a huge Honour for me. Fast forward a few years, I got to see what goes behind the scenes for TBG. I swear nobody will expect it to be so crazy, the entire process is 3-4 months, crazy amount of money poured into it. All in the name of dance.but seeing the amount of inspiration that it gives us as a community was always the single most important driving force for us to do it. O school has always been the place I wanted to be ever since I know I wanted to take my dance to a professional level. To be among these people is kinda unreal. Thank you for inspiring me, pushing me, teaching me and most importantly accepting me into this family. Although I may be away for awhile, I'll still be back to do crazy thangs with y'all! This last #TBG16 marks my last performance with this Brother of mine. Been rocking local and international stages, won all my championships, travel and teach, troll the word with this damn bitchhhhhhh. Although our life focus is gonna pull us away from each other now, but I always got your back my Brother. Thank you for grooming me this past 10 years. I'm so Honoured and proud to call you my Brother! Your talent and light is a blessing to everyone around you. I'm excited about what the future holds for you! Alright, finally time to sit down and reflect on my week long learning journey on #TBG16. I've taken plenty of classes, experienced many different type of learning journeys, breakdowns, uplifting moments and euphoria in dance. This journey is definitely all of that and more. I believe the man @tonytzar needs no introduction, so many people look up to him as a teacher, artist and more importantly, a special human. The way he imparts with such selflessness, genuinely passionate about people's growth is something truly humbling and amazing to witness and be on the receiving end of. Within a week I got to learn 3 styles, the HISTORY, CULTURE & ORIGINS (which we too often are not curious enough) of it. Seeing someone from the American dance scene that is well involved in every aspects of it work, was huge for me because of my next move in life. My biggest takeaway? 'You just have have to get out of your own way and go, because you already get it.' Despite everything, I had really low self-esteem growing up. This is a barrier I'm still trying to break. I feel it hold me back in so many ways. But through this, I want to say to myself and everyone out there that I am enough and deserving of what I have and what's to come. Thank you tony for giving me more than dance. I can only strive harder with more faith and pay this inspiration forward one day, to the next generation of dancers.
